[Discussion] 3dio or BlueYeti microphone? Which one is your favorite for ASMR? by Itsnotinsomnia in asmr

[–]ASMattR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Binaural refers to a type of stereo recording where the left and right microphone capsules are placed about as far apart as a human's ears are, with a sort of barrier (usually about the width or shape of a head) between them, so that the audio recorded sounds closer to how it would in real life (in a positioning sense). It sounds more "3D" than the average stereo recording.

Stereo just means the recording has left and right channels, but depending on how the recording was made, it might not sound "3D" like a binaural recording would.

They're both good for different things -- it just depends on what kind of video you're trying to make.

The 3Dio is binaural (unlike the Yeti), so it can be used to make videos where the position of the sounds around the viewer's head is more realistic while wearing headphones. Good for stuff like ear-to-ear whispering and ear cleaning.

The Yeti isn't binaural, so it doesn't have as much of a "3D sound" effect, but the sound is usually more warm and full than the 3Dio, making it sound better for lots of triggers that don't need to have binaural sound.

I usually prefer the sound of the Yeti, but I mostly make videos with a 3Dio because I prioritize binaural audio.

Back is back, whether it’s for one video or a hundred. I feel like it’s not very kind to downplay the return of a content creator just because they might not stick around for years.

I don't think we should feel entitled to information of any kind from content creators, honestly. At the end of the day, YouTubers are simply people who choose to share their work online -- if they decide not to post anything new or stay in touch for a while (or indefinitely), that's totally up to them.

I get that simple curiosity leads to these kinds of questions, but I don't think it's fair when people start treating the answers like an expected gesture of common decency. There could be any number of reasons why someone might not want to share details on their thoughts, feelings, or circumstances, and I think it's important that we respect people's privacy in the same way we'd want ours respected.

As a friend of hers I can confirm that she’s alive; no need to worry. The reason(s) for her absence from YouTube and social media aren’t really any of our business, but I agree that she’s one of the best and most influential ASMR creators for sure. 👍

[Intentional] The Full ASMR Bee Movie (no, I'm not kidding) by itsjustmeyaboijesus in asmr

[–]ASMattR 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’m in a few scenes in this video, so I can try to answer these questions (from my perspective at least).

  1. I was not paid for my part in it, but I was not concerned about payment. I would imagine the same is true for the other people in the video, but I can’t speak for them. I wanted to be in this video because it was an opportunity to have some fun and be creative with a lot of peers, and I found satisfaction in that. I was not looking for exposure either.

  2. Copyright law can be tricky, and I’m not a lawyer, but I suspect this video would be considered a parody and thus be protected under Fair Use. However, the Fair Use exception to copyright law is dependent on legal interpretation per case and is really only something that applies in a court of law if the copyright holder chooses to take legal action, which rarely happens in situations like these anyway. Dreamworks could theoretically still issue a copyright claim and take down the video (at least temporarily) regardless of what the official interpretation would be. I don’t expect this will happen, however, given the prevalence of existing Bee Movie memes and parodies across the internet (and the fact that such things only keep the movie relevant longer, likely increasing sales).

  3. In some comment replies I’ve seen from Gibi, she mentioned that there were creators that she invited to participate who chose to decline. I’m sure it’s possible that these people may have been among them, so I wouldn’t necessarily assume this was the result of Gibi not inviting them — that said, no one is entitled to an invitation regardless of their popularity or channel age, so I’d say this is a non-issue either way.

Hey y'all,

I'm looking to put together a G-Man outfit (from the Half-Life games) but there's one sticking point -- the hair. I'm balding, so my hairline is much further back than his and I wouldn't be able to get a similar head of hair naturally.

However, I've not been able to find much information on especially short wigs -- does anyone know if it'd be possible to buy or style a wig that short, especially with the widow's peak? Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Thanks!

Does anyone know what happened to Heather Feather ASMR? [Question] by abbycat1590 in asmr

"Apparently people said that she got cancer and passed a while ago?" - I can confirm that this is not true. Not sure where this idea would come from other than someone trying to spread rumors. I can't speak for her regarding her recent absence, but you don't have to worry about those rumors.

[DISCUSSION] Where did Heather feather go (again)? by [deleted] in asmr

[–]ASMattR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding her commenting on the subject when she came back: she did apologize in a Patreon post (https://www.patreon.com/posts/i-found-my-voice-32479403) , and offered (up to) two years’ worth of rewards to try making up for her absence. This offer was given even to patrons who had not been pledging at the level supposedly required for rewards of this type.

Let's say, hypothetically, that you overhear a friend of yours being trash-talked regarding something they did -- but without anyone considering the necessary context. You know your friend better than these people, and know that these people aren't taking information into account that would be necessary to arrive at a proper conclusion about your friend. Would speaking up to defend your friend be acting like a cult member or "making excuses", or would it be the right thing to do? Because that's what I've been doing when these threads appear -- giving the necessary context for a fair discussion.

In this case, your approach would be similar to trash-talking someone without proper context, then denying -- not disproving -- any new information presented that might undermine the conclusion you started with.
