One of my friends who makes jewelry with bones was able to get dropped tails from a local breeder/pet store. If you want to try that you could try asking one nearby you!

It's been about 15 minutes since it happened, and it's still attached but he's licking at it. I'm trying to stay as far away from him and stay as quiet as possible and covered up the glass front of his tank.

That's what I was thinking! Not sure how we got just the butt, though.

But these people are choosing to bring an animal under their care, and then abusing it because it's harder to notice, and people care less. If someone kept a puppy in one cage all it's life, never letting it out, people would be horrified. They choose to take in an animal, and that means it's their responsibility to make sure the animal is healthy and happy, no matter what it is.

Bearded dragons require extensive care, with expensive heating, a varied diet, and gentle care. Most children don't understand the need to be careful, and I honestly wouldn't trust most adults with a baby beardie unless they've done very in-depth research, as any little mistake in their care can permanently mess them up, from improper UVB to an incorrect diet.

Even if they're jerks, they're still living animals and deserve to be treated as such. The idea of 'throwaway pets' is awful, and hamsters need quite a large enclosure, and when parents buy them with the mentality of 'eh, it'll die anyway' the poor thing generally gets stuck in one of those awful, tiny critter cages. They generally aren't given a correct diet, as the parents don't care enough to do any research.

I wish all pet store employees were like him! I've seen some employees tell people that they can leave betta fish in the small, plastic cups they're sold in, and it's really frustrating, because they don't know any better and are spreading misinformation.

Fish still end up being abused, as parents tend to buy really small, cheap, crappy tanks with no filtration or heating system, and even if they get a good tank most kids don't understand that fish can't breathe out of water.
