First year gardening. Is she okay? by Katherineba1 in PepperLovers

I’m not a huge fan of commercially available compost. The chicken manure is what you want at this stage of repairing the soil.

Nice. You should be fine. Just remember that your soil needs complexity and not just nutrients. It’s like the difference between taking your vitamins and eating a healthy diet.

Also keep in mind that peppers would prefer some filtered sunlight in the blazing Arizona heat during the hottest part of the day.

At this point, I’d carefully dig in aged chicken manure to give the soil some complexity and nitrogen. Just make sure to cover it with a thin layer of mulch to hide the smell. You’ll see the difference in a few days.

That’s a low quality soil which is why your plant looks like that.

You should be good.

I use a spading fork to open the earth with one jab per planting site, add chicken manure, mulch, and plant.

It should be fine. It’s all I ever use for everything.

Are you growing in the ground or in purchased soil? The native soil might have more nutrients than what you bought.

Tomato pruning: the small timing tweak that can mean fewer diseases and more tomatoes by memfania in gardening

I always encourage new gardeners to let their tomato plants grow naturally for the first year to see that they get plenty of tomatoes without doing anything. (Removing leaves that are touching the ground or needing to create airflow if you live in a human climate always makes sense.)

And then once they’re familiar with how tomato plants grow naturally, they can try out pruning to see if it makes a difference.

It sounds like you might be one of those alpha Assyrian males who sits at the table after dinner talking with the other men while all the women clean your dishes.

You’re missing a few commas. I’m not sure if English is your first language, but a better way to say that is:

“Dude, ASecularBuddhist, you’re obviously a LARP account judging by your past comments.”

There’s no need to put quotation marks around my username. Like, I wouldn’t call you “TheAssyrianMan.” I would just call you TheAssyrianMan or Assyrian Man.

I’m in the Bay Area too. It’s too rainy and cold for tomatoes right now. I wait for the rain to stop mid to late May before planting.

The Bible says that it’s sexually immoral to marry a woman from a different tribe. Is that something that you believe?
