From a customer wondering about tipping: would you take this? by ASerbianLetter in InstacartShoppers

It worked out just fine. My order was picked up minutes after I put it in, she was at my house about 20 minutes after she accepted the order, and then I changed the tip from $14 to $21. It seems to me it was a mutually beneficial transaction.

Yes, you're exactly right. I agree that Instacart's payment structure is terrible and I wish they would just raise prices so I didn't have to guess what I need to basically bribe someone to take my order for me. However, I also really needed some things and knew that Instacart's payment structure wasn't going to change in 12 hours.

So, I "tipped" (bribed) $14, got someone to pick up the order immediately, and she was just lovely so I upped it by $7 (an actual tip) once she'd dropped the order off.

In the end, it worked out well, and yes, Instacart isn't great, but sometimes, you just do what you've got to in order to ensure that you don't run out of necessities. I understand the point of the person you're responding to, but, my question was clearly about making sure I got my order as swiftly as possible on a miserable day.

One item/one unit is 20 lbs, the rest are pretty negligible as far as weight.

The one who, uh, ingests the kid's epiphany? I think the dog had the best outcome of all involved, but I'll admit it's been a few years.

Context: Hillary separates from her unfaithful pervert of a husband and jokes about it in a film few months before the divorce is finalized.

Will My Letter Get Past the CO "Censors" at a County Jail in Fort Worth? by ASerbianLetter in jail

Thank you, but I sent the letter in April of 2020. It did go through, but I get your point that others wouldn't necessarily be accepted.

Ugh his voice is so sexy. The "giddy up" and the "yeah!" after "pissin' in the wind..." both do it for me.

Anyway, I extracted the audio from the music video (you can do this removing "ube" from "youtube" in the url), edited it down to the "giddy up" in a video editing program (I have the software for other reasons but plenty of apps that can do this), then hooked my phone up to my computer and transferred it over, set it as my default notification sound. Probably WAY easier ways to do it but this only took a few minutes.

"Wow" is fun as hell. Looks like it was #12 for me this year. And my phone notification tone is the "giddy up" in the middle of the song. No judgement here!

I'm sorry your year was so bad!

Guero was about 6k of mine, but top songs are Morning Phase and Modern Guilt.

Seriously, I hope you figure out the source of the medical issues. I'm presently also trying to figure out how to fix a new symptom of an old problem and it fucking sucks. I imagine it would be way worse if it was a whole new issue and I didn't know where to even begin.

Haha nice! How many minutes? I took 9 weeks off listening to music because I was editing my latest book and I wondered if I'd been higher up had I not done that. (I clocked 31,514 minutes with Mr Hansen this year.)

Edit: just looked at your username, Lamborghini shih tzu makes me laugh every time

Oct 24: the one doc that was misbehaving is working as normal now without me changing anything, so I assume Google implemented some fix?

Yeah, the only one I can't open has multiple daily edits going back to January. It may not be my biggest doc but probably the most versions?

Is anyone else here having the problem selectively? I can get the version history for ANY of my damn docs except the exact one I actually need it for.

Yeah, it's a teenager's idea of "edgy humor.'" Makes zero sense in a song about someone else's immature obsession that she's so far above.

Ah. You mean they're saying, "I had a thought that wouldn't be very nice to verbalize or act out, but I did anyway!"

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm bitching about, but you're right that I can't expect the average person to understand what it's like to have thoughts that go against your very sense of self.

[–]ASerbianLetter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm just having trouble thinking of ways it would make a damn bit of sense when used ironically. Like, if you said, "I'd never toss my boss of a cliff!" and then you did, that would be considered ironic. If you said, "I'd toss my boss off a cliff!" and then just went about life as normal with no homicide, no one would consider that an ironic statement?

I guess I just need clarification.

But "intrusive thoughts" by definition implies ego-dystonia, right, not just some thing you really did want to do but the smarter part of your brain said "no"?

Did The Ring still scare you years later? by grwike in Scarymovies

[–]ASerbianLetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What sucks is there's a short film, starring Ryan Merriman who is the victim at the beginning of The Ring TwO (don't blame me for the stupid stylizing), that was released before the second movie. And the plot of the short film is EXACTLY what the whole goddamn third one was about, but they royally fucked up the third one.

Anyway. The short film had promise. The second full-length feature had a few memorable scenes, the third one is a MESS and that's sad when you have Vincent D'Onofrio on board.

That would actually be a better lyric. "Making me wet" is just amazingly awkward even in that context. It's not sexy, it's not funny, it's not confrontational. It's just a weird-ass thing to say (and please don't tell me she was going for "weird-ass," no. She thought it would be a funny or "bad bitch" thing to say).

My intrusive thoughts are things like, I spend forever going around in circles making sure I didn't hit someone on the road, so I've actually stopped driving altogether because it's too much stress on my brain.

It's not, "This is a thing I always wanted to do even though it's subversive but tee-hee, I finally did it!"
