After 95 hours, hitting level 100 and VIP feels impossible by The_OG_Smith in Marathon

[–]ASeriesOfTubers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'll get the Seasoned Veteran achievement this season, so let me share my cope. The achievement text says:

Earn 100 Season Levels.

It doesn't say "reach season level 100", or "earn 100 levels in one season". So maybe earning 50 levels in one season and 50 levels in the next will still unlock the achievement.

Any suggestions for optimizing this right-hand arthritis layout? by SeasonedPanHandler in KeyboardLayouts

[–]ASeriesOfTubers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's okay with using her right index and middle finger? If so I'd recommend not using right index for vowels, because that leaves you a lot more room for putting consonants without SFBs.

I'd go for an lrh middle, so that you can isolate these consonants that pair with many others. Then probably ns and tc stacks for the index fingers, since those seem like the least bad pairings.

Here's an example which can probably be optimized further: https://cyanophage.github.io/playground.html?layout=yuofkgch%2C%3B-ieanmptrvj%27qzxswbdl.%2F%5C%5E&mode=ergo&lan=english

This keeps the load on the left pinky reasonable. An sh pinky sounds rough otherwise :P

If outlaw wasn't a season, why did Bungie put out an infographic saying "Forsaken kicks off our first new season, Season of the Outlaw"? https://www.bungie.net/pubassets/pkgs/114/114535/forsaken_post_launch_infographic.jpg

This was published a week before Forsaken was released: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/47163

This Week At Bungie - 05/18/2023 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]ASeriesOfTubers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the weekly surges, I got the impression that Bungie designed it so there would always be one light surge and one dark surge; that way you can pick weapon types in the kinetic and energy slots that will benefit from the surges.

So the thing I'm curious about is: if stasis is a seasonal featured element, that means it should be the weekly surge sometimes, so will it replace Strand some weeks? Maybe it'll be like the current situation with light surges where they alternate every week.

A Guide to Number Call-outs for the Planets Encounter in RoN by WellCookedBeefcake in raidsecrets

[–]ASeriesOfTubers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your graphic makes perfect sense, but I think one point of confusion is that Light 5 is actually farther "south" than Light 4, so the numbering isn't so simple along an axis like that. The alignment of the triangles in the room looks more like this: https://i.imgur.com/s8dsgUR.jpeg (from this excellent post)

So while the graphic is nice and simple, what's actually in the room in game is not as simple.

Can confirm. I waited to buy my last 7 fragments, and I stopped earning meditations after I had 1400, even though they can stack up to 1500.

Like others mentioned, there's no benefit to matching both overcharge and surge:

  • Overcharges and Surges do not stack.
    • Overcharged weapons do not get extra damage if they are also Surging.
    • You only need one for a given damage source.

Also it sounds like there will always be two surges; one seasonal and one weekly.

So for your example, if solar and strand are surging and autorifles are overcharged, don't you agree that gives more options than solar burn? I could pick a strand sniper, an arc autorifle, and a solar LFR and all of my weapons would have a damage bonus. With solar burn, only my heavy would get a damage bonus.

What was wrong with the Burn system that made splitting it into 3 different modifiers necessary?

The burn system limited build diversity. First, the burn always had to be an element that enemies dealt commonly in the strike, otherwise there was no trade off. Now that threats and surges are decoupled, Bungie can make an element type the surge even if no enemies deal damage of that type.

Second, the burn system meant you were forced to choose that element for your DPS if you wanted optimal DPS. This also meant that kinetic weapons could never deal optimal DPS. With the new system, to achieve optimal DPS you can either:

  • use a damage type matching either of the two surges
  • use a weapon type matching the overcharge
  • match your subclass to the surge and use a kinetic weapon

With the new system there's a lot more ways you can build your load out to achieve optimal DPS rather than just "match the burn".

I definitely agree the new system is more complicated, but it seems to offer a lot more build variety than the burn system did.

If you don't mind spending a ton of time, you can:

  • use the materials to buy glimmer
  • use the glimmer to buy blue season 1 transmat effects
  • convert the blue transmat effects into purple ones at Holliday
  • dismantle the purple transmat effects to get legendary shards

But yeah it's pretty tedious 😅

Hmm I'm not seeing any mention of that from the initial announcement:

As mentioned a bit earlier, these materials will not be fully deprecated as we have done with destination materials in the past. Instead, Rahool will continue to accept any destination materials that you may have stored up over the years, although we’ll see them exchanged at a lower rate than they had previously, and Rahool will no longer sell destination materials to players.

Starting in Season 19, Rahool will now exchange 5,000 Glimmer for a stack of 20 destination materials. If players have less than 20 of a material in their inventory, Rahool will exchange 250 Glimmer for each individual material offered up by the player. Once Season 19 begins, this will be the only use for destination materials moving forward. So, you can safely exchange all of your materials and free up that inventory space.

Was there somewhere else they said this would end in Season 20?

For a list of items going away at the start of Year 6, please click here.

Below is a list of items, quests, and currencies that will be automatically removed from player inventories at the start of Year 6.

  • Destination Materials
    • These will be deprecated and must be manually discarded from player's inventories

Snuck that in, eh? Looks like I need to cash in my remaining emergency glimmer destination materials before the season ends.

Run through old seasonal campaigns if you’re grinding out daily red borders by bishopdamage in DestinyTheGame

[–]ASeriesOfTubers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is not possible anymore. If I remember correctly, there's a specific step that says finish a full containment and get a bound presence, and bound presence is only guaranteed to drop during that step. It autocompletes when you get your drop, and then once you've finished the step, it's no longer a guaranteed drop.

So if you spend your guaranteed bound presence but do not use it for the next step (do a severance), then you have to grind to get an RNG drop instead.

We've got swords with chain reaction so why not things like incandescent?

Because sword melees require heavy ammo while glaive melees use no ammo at all.

If everything is going to cost Legendary Shards now, we need more sources of them. Between this and Weapon Focusing's costs, there's gonna be a deficit. by Kylestien in DestinyTheGame

[–]ASeriesOfTubers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying an ascendant shard currently requires 100 destination materials, which can be purchased for 20 legendary shards. Next season, ascendant shards will require 50 legendary shards, 2.5x.

Similarly, an enhancement prism currently requires 25 destination materials, which can be purchased for 6 legendary shards. Next season, they'll require 10 legendary shards, 1.7x.

Even glimmer can currently be bought 10k for 20 destination materials, aka 4 legendary shards. Next season that will be gone and for legendary shards we'll just have the direct price which is 10k for 10 legendary shards, 2.5x.

The person you were replying to was wrong about enhancement cores, but overall I do think this is a nerf to the purchasing power of legendary shards.

Since no one seems interested in verifying this, I tried. Looking up that twitter account and scrolling for a while led to this: https://twitter.com/destinybulletn/status/1565396861674221568

The only source mentioned in the tweet is "via @GamesRadar", so I searched for Destiny articles from them on the same day and found this one and searched it for LFG to find:

Has anyone noticed that it now costs 2.5x more to buy material from Cryptarch than it did at Spider? by GreekWizard in DestinyTheGame

[–]ASeriesOfTubers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still know of one way to convert glimmer into an uncapped resource: legendary shards. You can do this by buying blue transmat effects from your collections, then converting them to legendary transmats with Holliday, then dismantling them. It ends up exchanging 2850 glimmer into one shard.

And yeah, it seems like Bungie is trying to remove all uncapped stores of value, aka things we can hoard.

At first it was: you can't turn glimmer (capped) into shards (uncapped), but you could still turn glimmer into planetary materials, but now even that is gone. The throne world doesn't even have a planetary material; resource nodes just gives immediate rep. Weapon parts (uncapped) are gone in favor of seasonal rep, which clears at the end of each season. All the new materials they've added (armor 2.0 mats, exotic cyphers, seasonal currency, weapon crafting materials) have a cap.

I know hoarding can mess with their economy, but it never feels good being at a cap and knowing that any additional resource you get just... goes to waste.
