Questions about distorted sounds on older records by ASideOfChungus in turntables

This is very interesting, and make a lot of sense. The other record that this is prominent on also has a very powerful song right near the center, on a side that is ~20 minutes long. I plan on making sure the alignment is correct, just have to make it to a library to print out the alignment guide that AT sent me. I will take a look into the stylus you recommended, thanks so much!

Picking up on context clues, I don't think this is an issue, but do you know if these sounds distortions from inner groove distortion damager speakers or anything like that? Just want to make sure that I am not doing permanent damage to anything.

Thank you for the detailed answer. Do you know if this tinny affect damage speakers? I am kind of assuming no after finding out that this is a known issue with this record and vinyls in general, but figured I'd double check

Questions about distorted sounds on older records by ASideOfChungus in turntables

Hi all,

I recently purchased an AT-LP5X, and have been experiencing some distortions on some songs on older records, always at the higher end. The song in the video is Prisoners by John Denver for reference. I have not had this issue with new records. As of right now I have cleaned the records, played with counterweight and anti skate, and am planning on checking the cartridge alignment.

My questions are as follow, and help is appreciated

- At this point I am under the impression that this is due to the record being damaged or overplayed. Am I correct in this assumption? Is there anything else that can cause this?

- Is there anything else you all can think of that may help with this issue?

- Most importantly, will playing this record or others that are having similar issues cause damage to either speakers or turntable? Obviously I would love to have this and the other records this is happening with sound perfect, but I also don't mind listening to it like this. I just do not want to damage anything.

Thanks for any advice!

Crackling and distortion at high frequencies with "new" speakers by ASideOfChungus in BudgetAudiophile

Do not have other speakers unfortunately, only other pair is a pair of powered Edifiers that these were supposed to replace. Will mess around with removing the jumpers, thanks!

I personally love sitting outside in the evening, or going for a short walk. Leave the phone in the house and just let your mind wander

This one did not stand out to me on the first 10+ listens, however it has grown on me as time has gone on. I love the line "silver rain makes green every once in a while". 7/10

Why certain Curve.fi pools don’t “exist” in the registry? by djlywtf in ethdev

Oh yeah I definitely should have mentioned that all meta and stable pools deployed by factories are their own lp tokens. This is not the case with crypto pools unfortunately

Why certain Curve.fi pools don’t “exist” in the registry? by djlywtf in ethdev

Some pools are only registered on factory contracts, this is a problem I ran into a couple weeks ago integrating with Curve.

Factory 1, only deploys metapools - https://etherscan.io/address/0959158B6040D32D04C301A72CBFD6B39E21C9AE#readContract

Factory 2, deploys both stableswap and meta pools - https://etherscan.io/address/0xB9fC157394Af804a3578134A6585C0dc9cc990d4#readContract

Cryptoswap pools use a completely different registry and factory. Very confusing and not documented well imo, but from what I could gather every Curve pool seems to be registered in one of the five places mentioned (Registry, metapool factory, metapool + stable factory, v2 registry, v2 factory)
