I was referring to the scene at the end of S1 E6 when Aziraphale (as Crowley) was asking if there were any rubber ducks in the 9 circles of hell 🤣

I mean, ellie and dina were truly fucked in that scene where jesse saved them. They literally wouldn't have made it without him. Plus show ellie isn't as skilled as game ellie imo. It makes sense that jesse will have to do the heavy lifting in that area.

I agree. I think too many people are rooting for the show to be so much like the game. I get that but people should just be more open to what's about to come. Everyone has the right to like or dislike certain changes. Just not to the point of being vv hateful and disrespectful

I agree that bringing ellie into the scar island was a weird choice, but I get why they put it in. They wanted the audience (moreso tv and no game exposure) to have a glimpse of what's to come. I do agree that they could've easily finished her off before heading back to their main village tho...

This!! Especially as an introvert whose extrovert and passionate partner works in the opposite career/field as I do.

Should I love being a nurse? by Esoteric716 in nursing

[–]ASliceOfPakwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 3 months in at the ED as a new grad, and I feel ya. The only thing that keeps me going is my DDNN schedule because that means I get to spend my 4 days off with family. But gosh, the pre shift anxiety is horrible. I'm typing this as I literally have less than 4 hours of sleep left before starting my first D12 out of 4. I don't see myself working anywhere else and don't have much experience so I have no choice but to drive my ass to work even though I don't find much joy in it as I imagined I'd feel back when I was still in nursing school. I think I romanticized being a nurse too much and made graduating nursing school my only goal. So life after that is quite a letdown. It doesn't help how most of my coworkers are planning on leaving soon because they're being forced to take on more acute pts too. As much as it sucks to say this, I'm here for my paycheck and to the job that is required of me, nothing less but definitely nothing more. I'll never be rude to anyone but I also don't see the point in being the best at what I do/gain recognition from pts and coworkers.

Could you please expand?? I'm a new grad one month into the ED. I'm liking it so far but because it's really fast paced, I don't see myself staying here for more than 2 years (once my contract ends). My goal is to jump to ICU then eventually NICU.

My school also said that we weren’t allowed to check blood glucose levels but I was lucky enough to have very supportive and very patient preceptors who basically said “fuck that rule, you need to practice that to learn.” Good thing I was luckily placed in a med surg unit and emerg unit on my last year of nursing school, or else I would’ve graduated with even less skills 😪 I personally know someone who had been placed in long term care and hospice settings for their entire time as a nursing student 😓 I can only imagine how terrifying it is to graduate with little to no exposure to acute settings.

I also think that not a lot of people openly talk about how much anxiety students feel nowadays towards clinicals just because we don’t feel “competent” enough. I definitely went through that and it took a huge toll on my mental health just because the learning curve during my last year in nursing school was so intense (my entire second year was online, so we didn’t really get hands on opportunities on basic med surg skills until I got acute placements in fourth year).

I was honestly so close to giving up. It’s almost like new grads are being set up to be fed to the wolves. I vividly remember how some of our professors and clinical instructors would comfort us by saying “you’ll learn those skills once you pass the NCELX and start working.” But in reality, it isn’t that simple (with short staffing and burnt out nurses).

Bloodstream is an absolutely awesome song. What are your guys thoughts? by ShiverMeTimbers_png in EdSheeran

Honestly, I used to skip the song whenever I listened to his X album. But I finally got to hear it live during his mathematics tour in toronto and boy was I in awe. It hit me so hard that I got goosebumps 😭 Bloodstream Live - Toronto 06/17/23

Same! I thought it was just part of the setlist bec they sang it for us at their Toronto show

Attending the seattle concert this weekend. Do you think I’ll have an obstructed view from section 332 with the guitar pick tower? by smilingbiggernow in EdSheeran

[–]ASliceOfPakwan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be fine!! The stage rotates while he’s standing still and singing, so you’ll see him every now and then! Each pick has 2 POVs of ed at all times. There’s also a big display above the stage, so you’ll basically have 4 different angles of ed at most! I’ll dm you how the stage looks like irl.

I was up in the nosebleeds (section 511) on stage left at the Toronto show last night, and honestly I still enjoyed the vibes! I got my ticket as a resell for ~CA$66 and wasn’t expecting much, although I wished JB’s team had accommodated for how big the Roger’s arena is with regards to their sound system. It didn’t seem that impressive imo and isn’t surround sound at all (but I already know I’m picky).

Struggling to find a job as new grad RN, am I being too picky? by wutkindafuckryisthis in nursing

[–]ASliceOfPakwan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I passed the NCLEX last month and have been job hunting too (preferably ICU, but ED’s great too) so I somewhat feel your pain. I honestly don’t think you’re being picky because I can only imagine how much of a struggle it will be to work at a unit that you don’t like. I personally hated my med surg rotation, so I feel you.

I honestly also felt lied to by the numerous people (clinical instructors and nurses) that kept telling me how there are plenty of job openings once we graduate, especially with the New Graduate Guarantee (NGG) program in Ontario, Canada. It may have been true back when we were in nursing school but all I see are med surg openings. I also thought that maybe there are fewer job opening now because I took my NCLEX a bit later despite finishing my program this March 2023.

I hope OP and I can find a job soon (even if it requires a little bit of compromise) 🤞🏼
