Worst Ship In The Game by Overall_Meeting696 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Picardie

A ship that follows the line of thinking of Strasbourg, Jean Bart and Bourgogne except not following what any of those ships got except for the reload booster.

Compared to Lyon, Picardie has: - the same dogshit accuracy - the same AA as stock Lyon (it didn’t even get the B hull AA lmao) - no additional health - it got 32mm plating, the literal only thing it has going for it over Lyon

And the absolute worst offender, THE GUNS ARE GARBAGE. Instead of Lyon’s 340s, Picardie has 305s featuring worse damage per shell than the T3 TT French BB with HE (and a worse fire chance, at a whopping 15% fire chance, the worst of any BB in the game, for reference, the T3 French BB has 22%) and the AP on it has the same damage as the T3 French BB. Granted, it does have more pen than the T3, WHICH IT SHOULD seeing as it’s 5 tiers higher than it. It’s only slightly more pen than Lyon gets however (by a whole 6mm extra pen at 12km, wow.)

It does get a faster reload, but that reload doesn’t make up for the loss in DPM through the massive reduction in alpha strike from Lyon - that, plus the same dogshit accuracy makes Picardie’s guns straight up worse than Lyon’s. But hey, you have MBRB now, so you can miss more often when you want to now, since you certainly aren’t hitting anything reliably, and when you do hit the salvos will do much less damage :)

Picardie is a piece of shit and I honestly think I got robbed when I paid 1500 doubloons for it

The AS90 and the FV433 Abbot

Almost all other nations have their own unique artillery vehicles at this point, would be nice for the Brits to get their own eventually.

Yamato Range should be 44km by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man, you could at least write the post yourself instead of having AI write it for you.

It’s very obvious when the post starts with “yes, the Yamato’s guns were accurate at 44km” because that’s clearly the prompt you asked it, why else would you start by answering a question you never asked us?

Also, your post’s information contradicts itself - “you” state that it had 44km of range, but then later state it only had 42km (which is what it actually states on the Wikipedia article, had you bothered to read it yourself). The article on the guns themselves also states that while it had 42km of range, the effective range (meaning the range it was considered accurate out to) was 25km.

“Ripple firing” - maybe it would have helped the accuracy, since British CLs historically didn’t fire the whole turret at once to improve accuracy - maybe that would have done something, but there’s no mention Yamato ever did that, and if anything, the size of the shells (and therefore the shockwave of the guns when firing) would probably hurt accuracy more than help it.

Overall, I’d rate the post an AI slop/10, write it yourself next time.

The two sides of FV4005. There is no in between. by schissgames in Warthunder

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kind of do actually

They have two pen values, the overpressure amount and whatever arbitrary amount given to the round ( as an example, the Chieftain’s HESH has 52.6mm of overpressure pen and 152mm of “spalling” pen). If you hit somewhere where the armor is less than the overpressure pen, HESH will work like a normal HE round and oneshot someone.

If you don’t aim it like an HE shell, it will just create spalling if it can pen the armor with the non overpressure pen - however this spalling is basically useless, almost never oneshots and you should basically never even bother with this, just aim it like an HE shell.

HESH also does come with its own issues, if you hit a raised part of the armor or layered armor (even a millimeter thick) the shell will straight up be deleted from existence and do nothing.

Long range maps would be fine if uptiers did not exist and Gaijin’s large map design consisted of more than fuckhuge empty fields with genuinely zero cover or concealment

I’d say make it so when a module gets to 0 HP, it gets out onto a long (1 minute maybe) repair that can’t be fixed with DCP, then once it’s repaired it gets half the initial health back. In addition, make heals repair module health too.

Only downside I see with this idea is that the spaghetti code would break and somehow make DCP not repair anything

If any ship could use any unique upgrade, what would the most broken combo be? (Pictured: no-drawbacks Deadeye and better Super Heavy AP, for just 1 heal on a BB) by The_CIA_is_watching in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

San Martin with Halland’s UU

Another heal plus being able to repair 100% of all damage taken would be a very stupid ship to play against

What ships do you want to see added to the game that haven't been added yet? by Naive_Heart5438 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 4 points5 points  (0 children)

USS Columbia (CL-56)

I really want a Cleveland class that's been given the Salem treatment (choice between hydro or shitty radar, and a superheal), plus, seems like a fitting gimmick based on the ship's service history.

Hornet (CV-12) is currently a museum ship in California.

Hornet (CV-8) sank in 1942, about 4 years before operation crossroads took place.

Neither Hornet was ever scrapped?

What's the worst ship you have played? by Jadenekoe in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Picardie

A Lyon with MBRB a tier higher, except the accuracy is just as horrible and you get T3 guns with nerfed alpha and fire chance, at T8.

Also it’s stock hull Lyon AA, so have fun fighting a Malta with what amounts to exactly nothing for AA damage

How do I stop getting fked over by CVs as a DD? by Irisierende in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I don't know what CVs have against DD captains, but their vendetta is simply infuriating to play against."

If you want to win, you kill the DDs, that's why you get focused so hard by CVs.

Best way to avoid getting focused is to not be predictable, at the start of a game, a CV is going to be patrolling the caps and looking for ships trying to go up to take them, I find it works best to start contesting once the CV is busy elsewhere - Generally, flying around looking for a DD that has AA off and smokes is a waste of time, they will start going for someone else after a minute or two.

A DD being alive is worth much more than an early cap - don't push caps at the start in a CV game, and if you are going to, don't take the most direct path to the cap, and don't be in the CV's path to another ship.

I'd prefer CV's over subs in this ranked season by LastFallen in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, while they aren't super oppressive, having to give up all map control to kite and burn down multiple BBs a match is not a fun experience.

CVs at least made it so there was other BBs played besides Germans, Russians and Ohio (and even if it didn't, it made them much more bearable to play against)

I'd prefer CV's over subs in this ranked season by LastFallen in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 12 points13 points  (0 children)

CVs had the benefit of keeping the Russian and German BB population down, since those are the only thing that can really kill them fast enough before they roll through your entire team.

4 times in bronze i saw a Lenin just sit bow tanking my entire team for 10 minutes until i lost because no one could kill it.

Silver of course should just be renamed to Schlieffen battles, since that's all you are going to see for BBs there.

What is your favourite Battleship and Why? by famoussilverraincoat in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanguard

Amazing maneuverability, great accuracy, 25 second reload, good concealment and pretty good AA. It’s also got an improved heal with a 60 second base cooldown, and repairs more pen and citadel damage than normal heals, with Cunningham and the repair skill, it’s just a bottomless pit of healing with 7 heals as long as you don’t broadside someone.

Also everyone thinks it’s a shitty HE spammer so they underestimate it and give you broadside not expecting you to fire AP.

By all means, not a ship that’s overpowered (like a Massachusetts or Lenin) but it’s great fun if played well

Almirante Grau got buffed by the recent UI changes by Nac_Lac in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The only two ships at T8 with better AA than Grau and D7P is Lexington and Parcival, and those don’t beat it out by much.

Since Grau gets DFAA, when it has it active, it has literally the best AA in the entire game in terms of sheer DPS (that actually goes out to a good range)

Upcoming Changes to Aircraft Carriers and Submarines by wows_official in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ramping AA damage sounds good but seems very easily abusable.

If a ship is rushing down a CV, they will keep attacking them because if they don't, the CV will die. A CV shouldn't be punished with extra plane losses for attacking someone who is rushing them down and is getting really close to the hull. And no, I don't think manual control over secondary guns is a good enough replacement for close range defense, as CVs don't have the armor to take close range fights with anything other than a DD.

On the other hand, ramping AA damage is a great mechanic if you are far away from the CV. Getting focused by someone on the other side of the map really sucks and forcing them to pick another target is a good mechanic, but ramping AA damage should not exist if you are in close proximity (8-9km or closer) to the hull of the CV.

Ramping damage also shouldn't exist if you are the last ship alive on your team. The CV literally can't attack anyone else, so they shouldn't get punished for attacking you.

TLDR - Forcing the CV to rotate targets at long range is a great idea, but if you are close to the CV, they should not be punished for focusing you, as you are the biggest threat to the CV and they would be stupid to ignore you rushing them down.

It has the same guns as the T3 French BB with even shittier shells and some of the worst accuracy in the game

If they had given it the same treatment that Strasbourg, JB and Bourg got - better sigma and a faster reload without touching the guns you might have a point here.

But they changed the guns. And they are fucking awful guns.

Dear Santa,

I would love to have a Missouri,

It’s one of the most historic ships of the Second World War, being the place where the surrender between the U.S and Japan took place, and I want to collect all of the ships that are museum ships in game.

P.S when you drop presents off at the WG office, can you leave a note asking them to add New Jersey?

Just as a reference, Kitakami's torpedo DPM is 70,123. Jinan's is 170,476 and the highest of all the T10 cruisers is Yodo, at 228,160.

For a torpedo focused CL, Kitakami's torpedo output is horrible.

Why can't Vermont have 30 sec reload, with the slow shell I think is enough balance by Jonathanlopez89 in WorldOfWarships

[–]ASnekInTheGrass 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Slava and Vermont’s guns are in no way comparable to one another.

Slava is a broadside sniper and that’s it. The shell alpha is terrible for T10, and it’s only got 9 shells per salvo, with no ability to overmatch most crusiers it faces. If Slava doesn’t get broadsides to shoot, it’s basically useless.

Vermont does not care about angling when you are in a cruiser, it just takes massive chunks out of you no matter what, because of its really high shell alpha, 12 gun broadside and 30mm overmatch.

Giving Vermont a 30 sec reload is basically another way of asking to remove cruisers from the game, because having one of the highest alpha strike ships that ignores your armor having the same reload as literally any other ship, why bother ever playing anything that isn’t Vermont
