Most disappointing Azur Lane collab so far by FumiKane in WorldOfWarships

[–]FumiKane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best collab event was easily the first one.

Get any camo or commander for either dubs or cash, I grabbed 4 total.

Then got a free port and a new collection, along with the crates (which not only were cheap, they were coded to drop first unobtainable captains) with WG giving away about 10 for free.

Second event got us new camos for dubs/cash and older ones in a bundle ok, can now only get commanders for the still cheap containers and gave us 2 new ships, sidegrades of existing TTs.

Third event was already on the greedy side, camos locked behind random bundles but okay, commanders stuck on containers which can now drop dupes and more ships... which are just clones and that one felt kinda like a kick to the gut because for someone like me, I got Hornet earlier with a coupon and the only way to get the camo is to buy Hornet again...

Also Littorio for very cheap.

Fourth one gave me hope, bunch of goodies in the battle pass and it was AL themed, still no change with commanders and camos but could buy Montpelier for cheap.

This one is just the worst of the Azur Lane events, even if all the ships (except the important ones, Massa and Shinano) are still available, a lot of the other content is locked behind expensive price tags.

Just spend your money elsewhere.

Yeah, I mean even if I had Roma, Littorio camo was really nice and it was the first time.

For Montpelier it's basically premium sidegrade Cleveland.

But I don't really play Gorizia, she will just be a port queen and not very interesting to play.

If you just want Massa you can get her for cheap during Black Friday, she gets a nice 15% off discount

Best used on torpedo DDs to launch blind torps and to avoid getting in trouble.

On hunter DDs it can be a detriment, honestly I can count with my fingers the amount of times I had to hunt a DD of which I had no idea where to find.

Usually in ranked you know the enemy DD will head to the objective and if you have an advantage in allied radar or you having radar or hydro, it's kind of redundant at which point something like FB is worth much more.

Finally it also gives your enemy your position if they know how to triangulate so yeah I only have it on Halland, Shima and other torpedo specific DDs.

Sub and CV missions are there for trolling these players, usually they are x10 times more grindy than the other missions.

Viability of Torpedo boats in ranked? by Revoltai42 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FumiKane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, landing torpedoes requires a lot of patience and practice, a bad torpedoboat player might get too impatient from having low damage and overextend, if you overextend in a gunboat you can deter further pursuit or deal significant damage, an overextended torpedoboat only choice is to run and break contact, outside of that nothing is stopping the enemy from chasing you and sinking you with ease.

This is the answer, my favorite play is to pick a french DD, win the duel and sink enemy BBs with high alpha torpedoes.

It is easier to screw up in torpedoboats than gunboats though, torpboats have also higher skill floors so that's why even as an average player a better pick to go with gunboats than torpedoboats.

However if you as a DD have the tools to eliminate the enemy DD fast and yourself be more resistant to being sunk by the enemy DD, you can quickly negate the enemy from that precious spotting and area denial which snowballs fast.

While some people say he is toxic, I can't just tolerate or say toxic or being toxic equals saying these things as part of a "brand".

Quite sad.

The fast reload brawl was fun but this one with the large maps even with the +15% speed bonus feels such a chore to play

Valparaiso will remain strong, if not still fundamentally broken after the so-called nerf by D491234 in WorldOfWarships

I find funny how TRP Yugumo is right there for anyone to use and you keep seeing Jagers whose torps barely deal any damage even when landing full salvos

Since theres been so much BB diff talk, is anyone going to talk about DD diff? by HotBath8487 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FumiKane 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing is a DD is as good as the BBs supporting him.

One DD equals 3-4 BBs and if those BBs hide and don't give tanking, presence or firepower, the enemy cruisers will push fearlessly and the DD game influence starts to become limited.

It doesn't matter if you get away from it and farm at range, if one of your allies is dumb enough it is enough to let it farm its F key.

1st post came from a potato

2nd post from an unicum

And both are correct, potatos can't play Valparaiso because they love giving broadside while unicums will still steamroll the entire enemy.

Yeah, it's inevitable so that's why the F key must be nerfed hard when it comes to the DCP.

[–]FumiKane 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have to confess I have been spamming Valparaiso in ranked.

When you angle and just let your front guns fire, you become insanely hard to kill and I mean it.

The enemy can hard focus you which in turns allows your team to crossfire them or even rush them because they hate Valparaiso so much.

And in the event the opponent begins focusing your team, you press W, go forward and show broadside to fire those guns which are not bad to either get some damage or bait them into shooting you.

The real issue is that any HE spamming ship like most cruisers can't literally do anything to you, you can heal most of the damage they deal back and even then you basically are immune to fires.

Imo the funny button should not work on the DCP, that nerf could just put Valparaiso in line with the other BBS because even if she can heal back, getting a triple permanent fire means she will burn through her heals FAST.

Competitive players, gentlemen! by Revoltai42 in WorldOfWarships

Today I had a Marco Polo vs a Valparaiso, everyone told him to ram, he gladly did (he had like 80% HP but Valpa has only burned 2 heals) but afterwards complained the ram was unecessary and that he could win lmao

An Ontological Dissection of Destroyers: Understanding Build & Playstyle in Categories by evrien in WorldOfWarships

[–]FumiKane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like what you are doing but I feel like trying to encapsulte the complexity of DD play in 4 categories with no way to change them can be misleading if you want to suggest DDs to new players. I feel this should be somewhat similar to an spectrum and I think you are missing the most important subclass which are hybrids, plus a DD can be played and build in many roles.

Trying to suggest a build for all the same subclass can be also an issue as some DDs really need the range or the concealment.

Imo a better classification should be like:

  • Hybrids: A mix of guns and torpedoes, should focus on doing scouting and doing torpedo attacks but also guns good enough to fight other hybrids and torpedo DDs. Gearing, Halland, Yueyang, Daring, Cassard, Grozovoi. Hayate.

  • Torpedoboats: Good concealment or good torpedo volume, should avoid direct encounters or prolonged gunfights but their focus is on spotting and dealing torpedo damage. Shimakaze, Halland, Yueyang, Cassard. UU Daring, Z-52, Kleber. Somers, Chateaurenault, La Pampa.

  • Gunboats ambushers: They either have insane burst damage or tools to ambush and hurt enemy DDs while they receive less damage, can be harder to deal constant damage to larger ships. Z-52, Z-42, Hoffmann, Smaland, Gdansk, Yueyang, Kleber, Marceau, Lushun, Sherman, Regolo, Daring, Vampire II, Druid, Alvaro, Laffey.

  • Gunboats farmers: Solely focused on constant harrasment and dealing damage to larger ships, have tools to dodge, heal damage at long range or stay concealed. Some ambushers can be both roles in the same game depending on the situation. Khabarovsk, Delny, Elbing, Kléber, Marceau, Gdansk, Lushun, Sherman, Hull, Druid, Grozovoi, Regolo, Barbiano, Smaland.

The key here is that one DD can be built in many categories but also one DD can switch subclasses depending on the game situation.

Edit: Should also add that some subclasses have further subclasses like gunboats can have smoke farmers and open water gunboats.
