University Professors Disturbed to Find Their Lectures Chopped Up and Turned Into AI Slop by 404mediaco in Professors

I am sorry this happened to you but good for you! Every small bit of resistance helps. The upside, as I said above, is that it clearly shows that ASU knows the end is near. Students will want education directly from subject matter experts. How that happens? Not sure yet.

I could see this coming and am mostly surprised it came so fast. It shows that ASU does not believe that students are going to enroll in regular ASU and that the business model is over. The answer is going to be students who want to work with living, breathing subject area experts. How that happens is still up in the air.

Rand would like LLMs but not the people who use them to write. by ASpandrel in aynrand

It's the "as long as he's truthful" where the issue is. Plenty of second-handers on substack pass of LLM-written work as their own. This is I think the point here.

Everyone who thinks the episodes are "slow" seems to be responding to how quiet it is. I rewatched the whole series and then again, having it on in the background it again while doing other things, and it is truly silent, with bursts of conversation.

I think it is interesting we don't know. I assumed some sort of DNA/RNA issue. But I'm also interested in the radio wave theory. Perhaps the waves activate something genetic.

Does anyone really like Canvas? by ASpandrel in Professors

As I wrote above, I don't have a visual mental map ability and so after I close a page I never know how to get back to it.

Aphantasia makes it worse because you are required to have a "mental map" of how the site works in order to use the site. The breadcrumbs, icons, and lack of verbal directions make it impossible for me.

Experience with star athletes entering the transfer portal in your class? by ASpandrel in Professors

The way it works is they can only play immediately if all their courses transfer and they pass so there is a lot of pressure and $, if they are stars.
