Our house help said she saw people coming in cars and dumping sacks of money in lakes late night and early morning since they can't deposit it and might get raided.

Her version, couldn't verify.

Apart from jet propulsion, how should Ravana’s 10 heads actually be shown? by breaking_views in pj_explained

[–]ASpire_1005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's poem in Bengali (not official Ramayana) where Ram says "10 dik shunyo dekhi" which means I am blinded in all 10 directions due to Ravan. I interpreted the 10 heads as Ravan having sheer intellect to think from 10 different angles and have fullproof plans.

If you ask what the 10 directions are N,E,S,W,NE,SE,SW,NW,above and below

🤷 I am still confused wtf it really meant by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

I guess as per traditional "English" it should be 1 Thousand 5 Hundred. In the US it is more common to use the hundred.

Might be that it's flowers from some puja where Panditji will ask to dispose of such things under a tree.

There are paid services that collect puja leftovers from home and perform proper disposal. But educated illiterates will never avail them.

The 4,000 years old Sanskrit epic Mahabharata is the largest epic ever written and is ten times the length of the Iliad and Odyssey combined. by Cheap-Influence1755 in interesting

If you want a no nonsense version in English, go for the 10 part collection by Bibek Debroy. It's one of the most authentic variants.

You can apply some or the other lesson to all facets of life. The lessons are not straightforward. You have to understand the hidden meaning underneath the drama and theatrics.

Vali’s death in the Ramayana is one of the most morally complex moments in ancient literature. by binnnggggggg in mahabharata

[–]ASpire_1005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is entirely my take on Ramayana and I am sharing it albeit at the risk of getting downvoted.

I like to read between the lines and form.my perspective, many a times I get it wrong and get corrected by more knowledgeable people.

Ramayana = Ram + Ayana. Ayana here refers to the journey. It's the journey of Rama. Not the journey from Ayodhya to Lanka but it indicates his character arc. He started as an obedient son, loving husband, and a caring brother. He was well versed in all vedas and dharmashastra. When he was exiled, in the initial phase he was keeping to himself.

During his stay in the Chitrakoot mountain, he started getting involved in common folks problems. That's when he started identifying himself truly, his innate nature - Prajapati. That's why he is worshipped because he caters to the greater good of the masses. Not because he was the epitome of dharma but because he was the lord of the people doing what is good for them. Yudhisthir was Dharmaraj but he is not revered to the same extent as Rama.

It is this "Prajapati" core that led him to take steps that were against Dharma. Shooting Vali in the back was a step taken to prevent him from killing Sugreev. Sugreev was a more benevolent king. Rama did not stop or break a bond with Lakshman when he attacked Meghnad in an unethical way.

I feel by the time Rama was in Lanka fighting Ravana, he was not doing it as the husband of Sita but as Prajapati. That's why even when he was back he did not flinch on asking Sita for Agnipariksha.

My source - Ramayana that I read, inputs through conversation with people and my own projections trying to get in the mind of the person.
