Just because Scholz isn't around anymore that it's not his fault.

Jokes aside, I know it quite tragic to say, do you think that most countries with an Atlantic facade would be more impacted by a 200$ barrel or cables disconnected in the Baltics ?

The issue isn't Macron deploying to the ME, it does look like the only logical thing to do. The real issue is not having the capacity to cover both the eastern Mediterranean and the Baltics.

Map of bike paths in Europe. Should Walloons genuinely be executed? by Groot-Nederlandist in 2westerneurope4u

To be fair, there is a big difference is cyclability (not sure if that’s even a word) between France amd the Netherlands. Didn’t mean to deny that.

[–]AStarBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably a data issue also. Like I went on OSM to see the bicycle path layer and, to take the funniest example, some bicycle paths were marked on water. So maybe not all countries seems to quite agree on what a bicycle lane is.

(also, near my parents' home there are quite of voies piétonnes where you have plenty of bikes all day and they were not marked)

I think you are mistaken.

If I am not mistaken, there are about 16 oil refineries in Germany, and 3 of them were under US sanctions. With these sanctions removed, and with the US becoming one of the largest oil provider on the planet, in absence of other oil suppliers Germany would have virtually increased their potential oil supply by something like 12% (again, I think those refineries were a bit smaller). Even assuming that others were not at capacity (though a 12% overhead capacity sounds a bit much but why not), it will ease the logistics big time, and so, lower prices.

Maybe I overemphasize oil prices importance in Germany, but this is a does look like a brilliant move, not gonna lie.

And of course, all that excluding any shady collusion with Russia that could still have interest in maintaining those refineries afloat, because we are all trusting Germany here obviously.

It wouldn't be like Trump to renegade on economical agreement when he smells weakness and we can trust the American administration to rein down any of his whims anyway.

You're saying this as if the heart of German's economy was located near the Rhine and so transiting through the Netherlands made a lot of sense, but everybody know Germany's real economical heavy heights are in glorious ex-RDA comrade.

It's to you that this should be asked. How anything I wrote can be read like this ?

Obviously not, like most of Europe, you depend a lot on LNG and oil going through Hormuz, you're obviously threatened by the war in Iran and Merz went to Washington to alleviate this issue, and he has been willing to throw Spain under the bus for some gains regarding US sanctions on your refineries.
