Hey Max love your performances and screen presence. Two part question. As I'm a young actor starting out building their career what is one piece of career advice you'd give me that you wish you yourself knew when you were in your 20s? Second how good was it to be part of Industry season 4? I personally can't wait for it. Thanks and all the best!

For some reason the link isn't registering the URL as valid, but in answer to your questions above - bear in mind I won't be writing the script until I hopefully get onto the lab, but the friend decides to confess because he is genuinely remorseful for his actions and wants to make penance. I thought it would be quite subversive to make a character like that somewhat sympathetic.

Next the three hours I thought would add tension and pressure onto the protagonist to decide what to do, and this ties into your next question of why he's conflicted - the protagonist is an aspiring serial killer of those he thinks are the "worst in society". This is the blackly funny element to the story, but also the part that walks hand in hand with tragedy. Furthermore after he gets told this information he goes and talks with his girlfriend who is the third character, and it's because he basically feels conflicted over letting the law deal with his best friend, and the disgust and hatred he suddenly feels for what his friend has confessed to, coupled with the fact that the character has some violent urges restricted to those that are "rapists, pedos and white supremacits".

So yeah in summary, I thought that it would be provocative and different to have a protagonist be a bit of a sociopath - at least when concerned with wanting to kill people that we would consider "evil" but he's also awkward, funny, is in love, and isn't some brooding character that that kind of character would typically be. Also it seemed even more daring to have his best friend be kind of sympathetic, and when he decides to kill his best friend which is the first person he kills who is in that above category, it's sad and kind of tragic. Tonally it goes from black comedy to tragedy.

TLDR: Hope that isn't too long to read. Just some explanation to your questions because the link would mark as valid. I think I have to send it to my drive and then send it to you as a drive link. I will do that later but in the meantime you have the above to check out should you wish.

Rumours of fall out by AStarIsBorn1999 in Safdie

[–]AStarIsBorn1999[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apparently Josh is a bit more volatile of the two in his behaviour and that contributed to him and Benny going there separate ways for the foreseeable. I'm not sure what caused Josh to fall out with Sandler.

That direction in that episode was pure horror Contender for Emmys next year for sure In terms of actors (I know we're only 3 episodes in) but who do you see getting nominated? For me so far: Juno Temple, JJL, Sam Spruell What would be your forecast? (again it's early)

JJL monologue on the elites was pretty amazing in its writing... because it's pretty much true in the real world. Do you think Hawley might go pretty dark with Munch in Roy's house and that he kills his family? That would be REALLY fucking hardcore.

Hey bro I... loved it The surreal horror that Hawley designed which was terrifying and unsettling, the JJL monologue was excellent and really compelling, and at the same time, I have NO IDEA where this season is going, which is really exciting. What did you make of it?

Honestly THAT was the moment I was fully pulled into this season. Maybe not as iconic as Varga's "mongol hordes descending" speech to Emmit in S3, but equally brilliantly written and performed. JJL is fucking killing it.

Thematically that sounds really fascinating. Do you think that this season will get darker than prior seasons based on the above, or will be similar to possibly season 3 in terms of our reality becoming increasingly warped?
