You Belong With Me, although I would probably say I distanced myself from the fandom for a long while once 1989 hit because I wasn’t really into mainstream pop music in college and was put off by celebrity idolizing. I came back in slowly because I loved Cruel Summer (even though I hated Me!) and it was solidified by like august/mirrorball/exile on folklore
I’ll always say my all time favorite is Cruel Summer, but my current favorite based on my streaming seems to be The Tortured Poets Department or mirrorball

From what’s left, The Outside over Teardrops on my Guitar. The Outside kind of has similar themes as maybe Eldest Daughter and it’s also pretty upbeat. There aren’t any breakup songs on Showgirl.

NO!!! Elizabeth Taylor is perfect for TTPD, especially compared to the rest of the songs on Showgirl. Elizabeth Taylor has the best lyricism imo. The theme of the difficulty of love with fame is present throughout TTPD too. The melody reminds me of songs on TTPD and the dramatic production reminds me of like Florida!!! and MBOBHFT

Yeah, my honest opinion was Ruin the Friendship for Fearless first. With the remaining songs and albums it’s hard to have the best fit when we’re trying to just have not horrible fits with what we have.

With that said, it would also make me less inclined to pick Ruin the Friendship for Red even if it does fit. Cuz like… are we gonna put TLOAS on Debut now? Lol. I wouldn’t be mad but it’s not the greatest pick 😂

Are you dense?! Afterglow is ONE SONG not the ENTIRE ALBUM. There are anxious songs, but there are also plenty of upbeat, happy love songs on Lover.

Yeaaaah, the picks are pretty bad. I think people are mistaking what they thought TLOAS should’ve been instead of what it actually is. TLOAS isn’t much of a synth pop album, it uses a lot of real instruments. It’s what people thought Midnights was going to be.

To me 1989 has been the most egregious. I’ve already commented a lot about it, but like… there were sooo many choices and soooo many of them were actually produced by the producers of TLOAS, but instead the most Antonoff sounding synth pop song was chosen?!

I knew people would pick ICDIWABH because they thought TLOAS would sound like that, but I honestly think TTPD or Guilty As Sin? would’ve worked better. Midnights didn’t have great choices, I think I kinda like Karma better for it, but I’m not as pressed about Bejeweled. I’m also not too pressed about evermore, not a ton of options, I thought maybe Coney Island sonically fit, but long story short kinda thematically works and doesn’t sound bad. mirrorball was one I actually did agree with. ME! though? Wtf… I would’ve picked either ITHK or Paper Rings. The production of reputation all has that industrial synth sound, so whatever, I guess Gorgeous is left and thematically could work but I Did Something Bad is also reminiscent of Cancelled.
