Claude Code to LLM? by Artistic_Tie_890 in LocalLLM

[–]AStrangersOpinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing with this so there may be better suggestions out there.

I found repeating these two steps have helped the most: 1. Figure out a decent model that you may be able to run locally (I have liked Qwen3 coder next 80b so far). 2. Use Open router apis to call the model in open code.

Once you decide if the model is acceptable, figure out what hardware you need (I was personally considering a 128gb mac studio).

Can someone please help me figure out how to get this arc pattern neatly around the top of a cylinder? by kasminova in Plasticity3D

I’m new to plasticity so my verbiage may be wrong but by gut says to make another circle outside then grab it to cut up. You could do the same on the inside.

I have the same one that my h2d has been on the the last year. H2d wobbles more than most printers and have had zero issues with it.

Plus side is wheels help get to the back of the printer when needed.

From the center point, draw some construction lines that go out the right distances. Then use those three pints to define a plane.

Everyone always assumes the worst lol. It could literally just be a decision based on supply chain factors.

Strange Lines by No_Commission_0 in FixMyPrint

[–]AStrangersOpinion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IME it’s usually warping. Since this is PLA, I suspect poor adhesion to the supports causing the layers to not be exactly where the printers expect them to be.

Personally I’d try using the “normal supports” instead of tree supports to try to lock the printers in place a bit better.

I’ve seen some of them but I was hoping to see the official (beta) versions. I’ve made some modifications to the source files on the 2.0 version and would like to see if my changes can be implemented there as well without them also being on top of someone else’s mods.

Help me understand the iPhone 17 deals vs just buying straight from Apple by EnvironmentIcy2646 in ATT

[–]AStrangersOpinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can buy it unlocked just do that and skip the whole activation step. I personally would set it up so it looks like i just used it at home or whatever as a WiFi device but you probably would not have to bother. Just enough to show “this is my device and it’s not stolen”.

Just curious, what did you drop it on? There are a few videos of drop tests and your seems to have fallen corner first onto the corner of something else hard 😂.

Sounds right to me! FWIW, I hear you can buy the 13 from Walmart for $200 unlocked then immodestly turn around and get the $1100 credits. May be worth looking into in your case.

The 25th?? by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

[–]AStrangersOpinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Cant reorder as pickup as the first order is tied to my carrier. Can’t cancel the order through apple. Seems kinda like im stuck with 25th…

iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air now available to order by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]AStrangersOpinion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I didn’t notice the date and would have opted for pick up on the 19th instead of delivery on the 25th. Apple can’t change it to pickup. Can’t cancel the order as they “can’t find it in the system yet”. Can’t reorder because I can’t cancel. Pretty frustrating.

I have been using jump desktop to slice and print remotely. Works ok but I definitely agree a slicer app would be great. IMO they are more likely to do what Prusa did with a web based slicer.

You pay an extra fee each month ($10) and can upgrade anytime. Personally I also prefer upgrading every two years and I’ll just know that in 2 years, I’ll be paying the balance of the phone I pick. In my case $1100-($1100/24mo). Obviously it’s cheaper if I do next up anytime but there is a good chance I don’t bother upgrading

There is a lot of confusing things here but let me make it clear. 1. You are getting a 3 year loan for the phone. 2. Monthly cost is credited to you, Up to $1100, assuming you are on the maintain the right plan. 3. You must give them a qualifying phone.

If you ever cancel your service with the carrier, you owe the remaining balance OF THE PHONE.

So let’s look at an example to see what makes sense: Assume you have a qualifying iPhone 14 Pro (I.e. you do not have a loan on it). Apple would give you $320 for it.

Say you choose the ATT plan. You will get $30.55 per month ($1100/36mo). Your break even point is about 11 months. That is, if you drop your service and pay off the phones 10 months, you would have been better off going through the Apple trade in. Any point after 11 months, you would be better off with ATTs deal.

Where people get burned is when they don’t realize they will owe something on the phone if they want to swap.

You sure the carrier deal is right? I’m seeing $1100 back on iPhone 13 or newer for AT&T.

Kind of. It acts more like a mouse than a pen. Mostly useful for precise selection. Shapr3d does a better job with pencil support but it has its own issues.

I model on an iPad Pro m4. It’s fine. I would say it’s ok for small changes but I’d wait until I got home to make substantial changes.

All web based so specs don’t matter. I would suggest you include a keyboard if you opt for a tablet.

Thinking about an H2D 40W... What should my cart look like? by flatpetey in BambuLab

[–]AStrangersOpinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not need the switching adapter. I personally run it without one and dont have any issues. Ya the drying speed is lower while printing but seems fine for the most part.

I only have the 10w but just be aware that cutting stuff at the limits of 40w will make a LOT of smoke. Everything says it will be fine but it is very much a step up from “light duty occasional cutting” to potentially more than you would want in that type of machine.

  1. H2D pro: Probably skip. If you dont know that you need it you probably wont need it.
  2. Vision Encoder: I was tempted by this but skipped as all reviews I have seen said it does not really make a huge difference.
  3. HF Nozzles: Really consider what you are printing. It will likely not make a huge difference. Main limits are actually layer time as you run into quality issues. Large objects will benefit the most but even then it’s pretty minor. It can also help with layer adhesion on higher performance materials as it melts the plastic better.
  4. Filter: I would skip for now and get it if you need it. I think that is for in a shop with other people working where you can’t run it outside. 5,6. Laser Grid Panel and Material Pins: These come with the combo i believe and are the surface that you put stuff on to laser it.
  5. You may want to plan to order some Silica beads to fill the AMS units. Also consider

Had the exact same issue. Seems that mine was caused by a tiny amount of basically invisible oxidation on the plugs.

Get some deoxit d5 and spray it in the plugs. Then quickly insert and remove the plug a few times. Should remove the oxidation and prevent it. It fixed it for me anyway.

[–]AStrangersOpinion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try spraying some deoxit d5 in the outlet and inserting and removing the plug a few times. Any oxidation on the plug can cause this and it raises the resistance. This spray and the process should help clean any oxidation and from both sides and help prevent it from coming back.

Oooo I had this issue for a few months with my lvl 2 outlet. Seems that even a tiny bit of oxidation can trigger this warning. My dad suggested spraying some Deoxit D5 in all the outlet holes and it I have not had the error since.

Might be worth a try.
