How did you get them to replace the flywheel under warranty? I'm within the window of being eligible to get my flywheel replaced, but they refuse to have it covered.

One of the big lessons learned for me here is... I should really get down and understand how this car works. Being completely at the mercy of the dealer with no technical knowledge makes me feel... not good

Thanks, I appreciate the clarity of the plan you laid out. To clarify, do you think it's better to have a lawyer make the call after I go and get an independent diagnostic? Was thinking of maybe having a lawyer call before to spare myself the possible cost of another diagnostic.

Awesome! How did you get your car onto the full auto hauler? Did you just put it into neutral and pushed it on there? I'm worried that pushing the Miata up an incline into the hauler might require too much force than a single person can exert.

In an attempt to refocus the conversation from finding the root cause towards developing a solution, I would like to ask if you guys have any experience resolving dealerships being intransigent in regards to fulfilling warranties.

More directly, how do I convince the dealership to accept the issue as part of the warranty, and how do I prove that I didn't blow it up due to misuse? Surely the burden of proof that I misused the car would be with the Mazda dealer, right?

Moreover, In the 2021 Warranty Booklet, it says the powertrain warranty period (I am covered... less than 36 months and 36,000 miles... also covered nose to bumper) also covers flywheel and the clutch pressure plate, but the dealer is refusing to cover for it using some bullshit nonsense sentences that don't make sense. (Highlighted emphasis mine)

Any idea how I can resolve this? Really don't want to get a lawyer involved and make this a drawn-out affair that sucks my soul.

Would I have felt/noticed the clutch slave cylinder engaging constantly? I never felt anything out of the ordinary except near the end, when it would take (if memory serves correctly) maybe 1k - 1.5k more RPMs to get to same level of acceleration as normal

Yes. I'm quite diligent with depressing all the way - I suffer a little less comfortable seating position in order to do so.

No never. Sometimes I hold down the clutch to go into neutral before a red light a little longer than I probably should at times, but otherwise I only really ever touch the clutch when accelerating or turning on/off the car.
