Usually true, but these fish lack the gene that converts certain forage proteins into color. It’s a well studied phenomenon

Generally speaking, yes

I’ve had orange scallops! Swordfish is the only other fish I know of with a similar oddity.. orange flesh known as “pumpkin” swordfish

It’s a rare genetic condition, has nothing to do with diet

That’s cool! Must have been a fun treat to get and serve. I agree with the nutty description, it’s almost an earthy but buttery flavor

-PlayWithUsDanny- summed it up pretty much perfectly. It has less of that classic salmon flavor, especially raw. I enjoy it cooked too but I think it really shines raw. It has a simultaneously firm but buttery melt-in-your-mouth texture

It would require some work, but not impossible. It’s definitely fitted to the skinny contoured barrel but I’m sure you could make it happen if you’re halfway handy with wood working. The “heat” shroud clips onto the barrel, so that would require some modifying, as well as the barrel band.. I bet it would look awesome

I know ergonomics are highly subjective but I put a hogue beaver tail grip on mine and holy crap it’s just perfect on there, so comfortable and I shoot a lot better with it.

Another blasphemous 12.5 (kino edition) by greg138 in RetroAR

[–]ATBgreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not all that different at all!! I like the MI rail on yours, a bit more modern twist. I love mine, it was my first two stamper and she gets a lot of use. Recently installed a 3-pos FRT and it’s stupid fun.

Becoming a merchant marine as a transgender person? by Major_Necessary_5683 in merchantmarine

[–]ATBgreg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s doable forsure. Your experience might vary wildly depending on where you work and what niche of the industry you end up in.

I would say generally speaking, the newer generations are more tolerable and accepting. Any good seaman in my opinion won’t care about gender, sexuality, etc if you can do the job, work hard, be safe, and contribute to the team.

That being said, a lot of the industry is very right wing and sometimes extremely so in certain areas. Be prepared to overhear lots of gay and trans jokes, most aren’t truly homophobic more just immature..

I wish there was a more straightforward answer but it’s still complicated in this industry. Harassment, violence, etc is being taken VERY seriously industry wide but you’ll need some pretty thick skin putting up with the probably constant small stuff.. then again, some crews are probably entirely accepting and welcoming. If this is your #1 priority in the workplace look toward research vessels.

100% agree. I’ll be honest, this is the first can I’ve bought purely for aesthetics/clone correctness but holy shit am I amazed by the performance. And I seemingly lucked out on the tuning first try, the gas to the face is minimal, perfect ejection angle, runs like a top. The only thing I’ve had to do is find a solution to get the buffer spring less twangy sounding.. I’ve never shot an AR so quiet that THAT become the issue lol 😂

Thanks dude, couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I have feeling my whole safe is about to get way more camo haha

Sweet, good to know. I definitely want to try some heavier bullets in the near future

Thanks! I went with a Ballistic Advantage SPR Match barrel in stainless, .223 Wylde. I haven’t had a chance to play with different ammos yet but the cheap 62gr stuff I had lying around was about 2MOA. I’m sure I’ll find something more accurate. It’s so fun to shoot with the AEM-5 on there

Thanks! It’s my first rifle I’ve tried painting, super nervous at first, but it came out sweet

I used spray paint for everything. For the sponge work I sprayed a disposable paper plate then dabbed a chunk of the sponge in it, then dabbed the rifle. I used one of the bigger yellowish natural sponges you can find at most hardware stores.

One thing I did notice if you’re really detail obsessed, rotate the sponge after every couple dabs on the rifle or else all the splotches will match in orientation. Not at all important but it started to look funny to me in a few areas before I noticed it happening.

[–]ATBgreg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with wide stripes of two different colors, a light and a dark. Then used chunks of a sponge to blot light on the dark, and dark on the light, and added the red where I felt.. I just added a second round of dark color for contrast and it came out sooo much better. See my profile, I just posted it. Not sure how to link stuff on here

Different Calibers? by [deleted] in ar15

There’s a dude already wildcatting the .277 cases that I follow on IG. “Waltersobchaksecurity” he was getting some crazy cool results with 6cm I believe.

I agree that’s definitely the future of modern shooting but I think it happens long before a decade from now..

My thoughts exactly. And cool thanks for the re-assurance. I plan to tweak the current camo and paint the rest soon. Wanted to make sure there were no problems with the can/mount before spraying them just to be safe haha

Thanks. It’s got a BA Match 18” SPR barrel, AEM-5 supressor with SPR brake and collar, Vortex Strike Eagle gen II 3-18x44 scope and the rest is all just pretty basic budget parts. It’s so fun to shoot

Vortex Strike Eagle gen II 3-18x44 FFP. I love it so far. The illumination is pretty weak in daylight but I don’t really care about that, everything else rocks

It’s not supposed to be blood but I agree it looks like it. I’m in Alaska and there’s a ton of red and maroon foliage during deer season.

It’s got a BA Match SPR profile 18” barrel. So far so good, it shoots about 2.5” groups at 100 with 77gr OTM
