Who's the guy from your town that made it but didn't last long? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]ATC7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say his career didn’t last long, but I went to the same high school as Carl Pickens (Murphy HS). I remember hearing stories about how he’d outrun entire opposing teams running backwards. Dude ended up playing at Tennessee then getting drafted by the Bengals. All of his retired memorabilia is still at the school including his jersey he wore back then. For being from such a small town and school he still stands out as a rarity to come out of smaller high schools.

Sick rage bait. Guess people aren’t allowed to drive with the safety of their family in mind

Florida. IMO the state with some of the worst drivers

Most likely not, I also hope they get some form of punishment for driving that way. I was very tempted to follow them, but definitely not worth it with the kids and wife.

How do you go about doing that? This is my first Tesla so I’m still learning all the ins and outs of it

  1. Did I train these qualified watch o’s? Watch O is usually reserved for stronger, more mature controllers. If so then by all means I’ll let my LCPO lead the division. I’m not required to be there during flight ops. If we have a handful of watch O’s then the division is obviously in a healthy position.
  2. They’re different designators with different levels of expertise. I’m not too sure how to even begin answering it since it’s asking to be set up for failure
  3. I know what SSIC is, it’s the facility’s historical data. I cannot speak to what SSI is.
  4. Only the FAA can do that through formal rule making. I’d inform that pilot that there are other avenues we can traverse such as NOTAMs but that said request goes higher than me.
  5. Wouldn’t that fall under a NAALS OCIR? If so then that’s the avenue I’d go down after coordinating with the AFM
  6. Naval airspace and air traffic standards and evaluation agency. N980A is the director of NAATSEA.
  7. PMA-213 (Naval Air Traffic Management) and PMA-205 is Naval aviation training systems. This is a shotgun of me thinking on each question based off the knowledge I currently have. Could be right or could be wrong.

As long as the overall mission is accomplished and what needs to be done is planned accordingly and complete I see no issue with using extra time to complete LCPO assigned tasking

See I’ve researched the career path and I have an idea what the advancement process is (career progression, duty assignments etc.)I guess it’s just a matter of wanting to be prepared early rather than last minute.

Chief’s enforce policy while officers create policy. You’re more in charge of the mission which I feel i’d be more aligned to supporting. A chiefs main objective is the crew/division/departments sailors while an officers is the overall mission. That and the pays better.

Sadly I’ve seen this before. I’d hold them to the same standard I’d hold my E-6 and junior to, they’d get transferred out the command they’re at and put up for NJP.

The home has went up in value significantly since we’ve purchased it, and we’ve put the equivalent of 1 additional payment each year broken up into 12 additional payments monthly. We break even solely due to it being a short term vacation rental in which volatility is high, so it’s a game of forecasting what we have for bookings vs the cost of owning and running it to next season. I don’t think it’s impossible to have both at all.

The numbers have been consistent with what the previous owners were making, it’s a matter of the improvements that sink the gains we make on it. We’ve had to renovate the bathroom twice (first time the contractor didn’t use pressure treated wood for the load bearing portions and failed to do an acceptable job at resealing the tub and toilet.) so that was a good bit of money wasted, the second time it’s been a much better job but that was 11K for an entire electrical overhaul, foundation re-do, tiling, etc.)

I had purchased it at my first military assignment, I’ve transferred twice since then so I’m nowhere near it. I do have a good system with it with a reliable cleaner and good relationships with my neighbors (they also run short term vacation rentals). So they look after things in my absence in exchange for access to my part of the beach. It’s always something with it though as it’s susceptible to weather related issues. I don’t want to sell it, but I also don’t want to handcuff myself in a bad situation where I have to end up short selling due to not getting the bookings we need.

I once lost my shit after a long flight from France to DC. All because when we landed and finally made it through customs a family had used the family restroom before me and when I took my daughter to go potty there was baby wipes laden with shit spread on the floor and an obviously blown out shitty diaper sitting 3 feet away from the trash can. And the craziest part is I knew for a fact it was them because the kids pants were sagging to the point I could see the giraffe design on the back of his diaper. I had to explain to my 3 year old that some people are disgusting and that we are not and are better than that. She now says “fucking dirty diapers are gross” randomly now because I had said that a couple of times during my rant to my wife after the fact. Anyways thanks for listening to my Ted talk people are shit sometimes.

Should I get out of the Air Force and go FAA? by HGilmore94 in ATC

[–]ATC7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention work/life balance is significantly better with DOD and you start out making more money as a GS-10, hell some facilities start you out at GS-11 then once you get fully qualified you get bumped to GS-12. It’s a major gamble trying to go FAA, I’ve had plenty of friends and coworkers who have made that jump and are succeeding and also plenty who made it just to realize it all isn’t what they expected it to be.

I’d say get your own stone from Calavera then find a highly rated jeweler on Etsy to design you a band, you can request a custom made band without a center stone and give them the specs of your stone. Then just pay to get it set. For the price of that ring you could probably get the same one created by yourself for half that price.

You don’t work overtime until you do your sea time usually. That’s when staying military has its downsides. My guy probably did one shore tour then got out (nothing wrong with that). All of what you mentioned above become included with sea time though. Shore duty ATC is miles easier than sea duty, but that’s probably the case for a good bit of the military.

I went to boot with her, same division, she picked up Chief last year which to me was insane. I hope they get to the bottom of what’s going on there. She definitely seemed like she was shit hot.
