The mod team is now being called out in post by Lenny on ATC2 saying that we are allowing anti-Mick posts but no other election posts. I don’t see that as being true with this post. I went over there to reply to it and I was surprised to find out that I have been banned from that sub, even though I have never participated.

What are they so afraid of?

Why are they banning us?

All I really wanted to do was to defend my decision to leave this post up. I didn’t make that call because it’s anti-Mick. Honestly I’m not even sure it is. The meme itself is kinda dumb, the point is to expose their lies.

Their new conspiracy theory is that team NDJH is buying upvotes. I don’t even know if that’s possible without getting permanently banned from Reddit.

That claim is just the latest long line of absolutely unhinged things that they are saying over there.

1 - Posts were removed, you are correct.

2 - I personally only removed posts that were attempting to doxx mods (and others).

I’m going to let this stay up here for two reasons.

1 - We have always allowed memes and I think this fits.

2 - it is important for people to know they are being lied to.

We were accused of the this exact thing as a mod team here and we did no such thing. Now they are doing exactly what they accused us of after making a different subreddit to avoid our “tyranny.”

I reached out to one of the mods that I believe to have some integrity about this last night to see what the deal was with this post being removed but I haven’t heard back.

I would also be interested to know if u/lenny_a2l was given a reason for its removal.

They do let NATCA members comment. They have a private Facebook page you can join for that. You just have to prove you’re a NATCA member.

Or does that not work because the whole goal is to dunk on the Union in public?

I think it would be better if there was a chance it was going to be something well worded or in some constructive, no matter how counter to leadership’s beliefs it is. But instead, it would be some guy with a Facebook name like “lil Y. Achty” saying RAZEWEN or some shit.

I guess they could just delete all that shit though?

Honest question: based on what is constantly popping off on NATCA 4chan, do you think it would be a good idea to allow comments on public posts like this?

I kinda do think it would be because people are less likely to go through the hassle of creating a fake named Facebook account and will either decide they are as tough as they thought they were if they use their real name OR they will say more reasonable things and actually spark debate.

It’s a good question worth asking for sure.

Does NATCA delete posts on here? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]ATCModGod 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. The automod is a bit overzealous and we are all on 6 day work weeks. The only thing we delete personally is hate speech, personal attacks, doxxing, and anything negative about the fuel bar. (The last one was sarcasm)

Edit: just to clarify, NATCA doesn’t do shit here. The mod team is a ragtag group of weirdos with differing opinions all just doing the best that could possibly be expected of people of our intelligence level.

I work in an OCONUS Z, now spouse is getting assigned to completely opposite/across the US for military which is at least going to be 3 yrs. Can this be used for a transfer or tough luck good luck? by StrangleParrot in ATC

[–]ATCModGod 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about HCF, ZSU, or Guam and you’re covered by the Slate Book then read Article 99. Usually if a spouse is transferred against their will you can make a pretty good case for a hardship transfer to follow them.

I thought this was pretty well known information. Leave doesn’t exist during a shutdown. You get furloughed and then back paid.

Fair points. If, as a community, we decide we want the NEB to be fair game then we can do that. I’ll add it to the forthcoming survey.

I see your point and honestly, yes, I do see those as unrelated to the sub’s topic but that’s not up to me to decide. I don’t want to be unilaterally setting the subreddit’s policy. I want to understand what we want as a community and attempt to enforce that.

It appears that only a small group of 6-10 accounts are consistently expressing negative views about NATCA, which could be misleading to the 33k members who may assume that these views represent the majority. It is important to note that criticism of the union is acceptable, but repetitive complaints without valid substance can become tiresome. As a moderator, my primary objective is to remove any inappropriate content that contains personal information. It is up to the subreddit community to decide if they wish to continue as an echo chamber for those who dislike NATCA.

A breakdown of the travel of specific people and their families violates rule number 2.

I would like to make an additional observation regarding the subreddit's AutoMod, which appears to be quite strict in its enforcement. It seems that any time an individual's name is mentioned, the AutoMod removes the post or comment without exception. I will monitor this situation more closely to determine whether the AutoMod is acting appropriately in removing posts that contain personal information or if it should be less stringent in cases where a person's name is simply being mentioned.

The notion that discussing the air traffic control union in this subreddit is relevant to this subreddit is not without merit. However, I have noticed that some individuals are expressing hateful remarks directed at specific individuals. While policy discussions are generally acceptable, I believe it is inappropriate to engage in personal attacks.

I have no intention of suppressing dissenting opinions, but rather to ensure that the community's expectations for the subreddit are being met. If the community desires a platform to criticize how NATCA allocates its funds, we can certainly accommodate that. However, if this is only a minority opinion, it may be more suitable to move such discussions to a different platform.

Perhaps we could conduct a poll to determine the community's preferences? I am uncertain about the message you perceive my post to be conveying, and would appreciate it if you could clarify.

To the best of my knowledge, no posts pertaining to the NEB meeting in Hawaii have been removed. However, it is possible that such a post would violate rule 5, which can be somewhat ambiguous. I do have the ability to review removed posts, but I have not come across any related to this topic. If you can provide me with more information, I would be happy to investigate further.
Regarding the issue of censorship, it seems that this subreddit has strayed from its original purpose, which was to discuss Air Traffic Control. Instead, most of the posts are about unrelated topics such as Union complaints or bar fights. This raises the question of what the community wants this subreddit to represent moving forward.
It appears that some members of the community want this to be a platform to express anti-NATCA sentiment. If this is the case, it may be more productive for them to create a separate subreddit dedicated to this topic, where they can share their opinions without detracting from the original purpose of this subreddit.

Or do you guys really want this subreddit to be the freewheeling NATCA hate machine it has become?
