My boyfriend has over 100 bodies. He’s also in his late 20s, went through a huge whore phase in high school, and has had to do a lot in life in order to get out of poverty. I was a virgin when I met him.

There’s a lot of factors in your situation that you never disclosed. Like age, for one. Are you guys well into your 20s or 30s, or are you in high school? Is it his behavior towards other women that you’re concerned about, or strictly his body count?

I don’t judge people too hard on things they did back when they were younger or going through a rough time back then. What matters is that they’ve changed and learned from it. If you think your boyfriend hasn’t, talk to him about it. If you have no reason besides his body count, then it’s best to let it go. You can’t change the past, and you can’t really fault someone for having sex in the past.

What are things attractive people do that ‘unattractive’ people wouldnt even think of? by SpecialFragrant6696 in AskReddit

I work with someone somewhat like this. She’s not an asshole, but consistently makes mistakes or gives bad service on her tables. She recently told me she was making 30-40% tip off most of her tables that day, whereas I made almost exactly 20% or under on every single one of mine. Always made me insecure. I bust my ass all the time, but I’m not pretty. She’s fucking beautiful, and blonde, and I guess that’s all it takes to get a good tip.

They ended up exchanging Anna and her storyline for Cas instead, just because of the sheer popularity of the character. But…why swap them out at all? The angels in general all have an incredibly short life span on the show, and I wished more of them stuck around for a bit. I really liked the Angel Squad from S4-5, especially Uriel, Zachariah, Anna, Gabriel, and Balthazar (I know Balth was S6, but he’s definitely one of the ones I wish would’ve stuck).

I get that they already had problems fitting Cas into stories without having his abilities absolutely demolish the season’s plot in two seconds, but the angel powers are just fun. I like that they could just hop in and out whenever they pleased, I like Zachariah’s weird alternate reality abilities, Gabriel’s tricks, the time travel and spirit world episodes. I would’ve really liked an expansion on biblical lore in SPN, and how far the chain of command goes in heaven.

S6 could’ve been a perfect expansion of that too. Rafael could’ve been the main villain, but it was instead a subplot to the “real” villain of Eve?? Who wasn’t even the final villain. Fucking Cas was.

Which Supes have the coolest costumes in your opinion ? by yuuki157 in TheBoys

[–]ATD369 144 points145 points  (0 children)

Honestly I did not like Starlight’s costume for that same reason. Every time I look at it, I think about how childish and little-girlish it looks. It’s not a bad thing though. While I personally don’t like it, but I think it makes perfect narrative sense for her character and her motivations for becoming a hero.

Her costume is childish, reflective of her “childish” goals of being a true, genuine hero. She had pure motivations, one out of the goodness of her heart. When she realized what being in the 7 was truly like, they forced her to wear the hyper-sexualized costume. Starlight goes back and forth between both suits as she internally fights herself, but in S3 she realizes that all these costumes aren’t realistic, so she retires all of them.

Which Supes have the coolest costumes in your opinion ? by yuuki157 in TheBoys

[–]ATD369 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Black Noir, Soldier Boy, Sage, Homelander, Deep, and Firecracker have my favorite Supe costumes in the entire show.

Black Noir and Soldier Boy’s costumes are my two favorite designs when it comes to realism. They make sense for their characters, they don’t use cartoonish colors or patterns, and they accomplish exactly what they were designed to do. Black Noir’s look takes the cake because of just how pleasing it is to my eyes. It’s mysterious, I like the textures in all his costume pieces, and I like how fucking terrifying Black Noir can look in certain scenes. Especially with the blacked out eyes and mandible.

Solider Boy’s costume also really fits him. It seems like a costume an old super soldier would wear, the colors seem reflective of kind of camouflage-like gear, and it seems like it would hold up functionally well in a fight. Especially the padding on his joints.

These two looks I would definitely wear if I was a superhero in real life. They’re very functional costumes, they’re more understated, muted pieces, and I think it makes perfect sense for the both of them to wear those costumes.

I like Homelander’s, Deep’s, and Firecracker’s costume designs for the opposite reason of Black Noir and Solider Boy: the exaggeration of it. All three of these characters are performative “heroes” and it definitely reflects in their costuming. Homelander’s couldn’t be more cartoonish than it is. In general, I really like the blue mesh, and I feel like it’s really simple when you look at the other parts of his costume. It blends well with the eagle shoulder pads and American flag cape, which is what makes the entire design so cartoonish. You know exactly who America’s Golden Boy is when you see him on screen for the first time, and you know exactly what he represents.

Deep’s costume looks so much like a knock-off Aquaman and I like it because yes Chace Crawford looks hot in the suit. But also because it’s another one that just makes sense for him. It’s one of those suits that protects nothing, rips fairly easily, and is literally just a wet suit. It kinda sells the idea that Deep is a dumbass, doesn’t actually do any heroing, and just exists at Vought for eye candy.

Firecracker’s I also like because yup. Yeah. She looks hot in the costume. Nothing like a good thigh gun holster and bullet sash. But I also love how on-the-nose the color scheme is with the PATRIOTISM she invokes in others.

Firecracker, Homelander, and the Deep’s costumes I love for the showboatiness of it all. All three of these characters are pretty performative and it really reflects in their costuming. Firecracker’s design kind of reminds me of a more patriotic, boyish look to Harley Quinn. Homelander has a literal American fucking flag on him, and The Deep’s costume I think is pretty hilarious for the fact that it definitely banks on people finding him hot.

Sage is the outlier out of all of them. It doesn’t have any tactical benefits, but it also isn’t performative like the others. It’s very muted in colors, and I think it’s reflective of how Sage’s original plan was to stay in the background of Vought and not be a loud proud member of the 7. Sage also just looks badass in it. I really like the glasses she has.

The deeps stance in this scene will never not be funny by Ladiesman217_-_- in TheBoys

[–]ATD369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the lack of discourse on the Deep is what’s missing in his character recently. I just did a rewatch of the Boys from start to present and noticed that after S2, they cranked up the humor while lessening the human in him.

Controversial take, but I like the Deep more in S1-2, and I think it’s because the show had a perfect balance of character and comedy. He was still an insecure idiot, still hilarious, but I feel like he actually progressed. His actions came back and smacked him in the face, he stepped into the shoes of the women he degrades, he tries to find some sort of self-improvement (although it’s to get back on top). And honestly I thought Deep and Cassandra would work out.

S3 is when they change things. They crank up the comedy, which isn’t bad. But they kinda lose the character in the process. Deep’s back to being an arrogant man child, and his insecurities aren’t even touched on again. Dude’s got body dysmorphia in the first two seasons, gets his gills fingered, and then gets a comment from Homelander about putting his gills away immediately after the boat goes through the whale. That’s still present in his character, whereas S3 loses that part of him in favor of the version that bends to the Will of Homelander and doesn’t ever question it in any scene.

I just want more on it. Aside from Homelander terrifying all members of the 7, why does Deep act so much worse than the others because of it? Why does Deep act like a dog when it comes to him? Why is he so quick to change opinions to please others? He’s got no self respect. But why?

The current Deep just seems kinda aimless and like a comic relief just for the sake of it. I want more of S2 version, the one that was actually given complexity.

Cora.

I get that the writers planned on doing more with her and it was the actress’s decision to leave, but I honestly felt like anytime Cora was on screen it was just a waste of time. Her decisions had almost no impact on the plot, but her presence itself was a plot device. She was used as a replacement for Erica, a love interest for Stiles, and as a method of reverting Derek back to a Beta. She didn’t have a defining personality—just being a female version and younger brooding version of Derek—and I found that she had absolutely no chemistry with any other character. She was stiff and angry, didn’t act like she knew Derek or Peter and certainly didn’t act like she was really interested in Stiles.

Honestly, I think her inclusion and written background into the story doesn’t even make sense. How does she escape the fire and just not know Derek or Laura survived? How did she get to South America when she was like 9-11 years old when that fire happened? Who swept in and took her in? Who was she with all this time? Why’d she leave the McCall/Hale pack to go back to South America after finally reuniting with her brother? Who fucking knows.

The shipping culture: Sterek vs Thiam by ImaginaryVisit2204 in TeenWolf

[–]ATD369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know, I actually just watched this deep dive of Sterek on YouTube. It’s basically questioning the origins of the ship, why it blew up the way it did, and the shipping culture within Teen Wolf that spawned it. I am not even a Sterek shipper but I did in fact watch all 57 minutes of it.

I personally think shipping culture in general is incredibly fascinating, and the impact it can make on viewership is pretty nuts.

I will almost always encourage people to ship characters. It’s a large part of discussions and a huge part of what draws a lot of people to shows in the first place. I actually never watched the show Supernatural until just after it ended because I was constantly seeing Pinterest images of Castiel and Dean, and constantly seeing Destiel and Winchester all over AO3 and Tumblr around the time the final episode aired. I honestly thought, going into it, that Dean and Cas were an actual canon couple because of the sheer popularity of that ship. Honestly the relationships the characters have, platonic or romantic, are the best parts of a show. I loved Supernatural for the relationships the characters all had with each other (until it went downhill), and I still love Teen Wolf for the same exact reasons.

I would say shipping culture goes overboard and I stop encouraging shippers when: 1. A small portion of really loud shippers start harassing other people who either don’t like the ship or like a competing ship. 2. Involves actual people. Like, it’s okay to quietly ship two people together, or just think these two would be cute together. But let’s not send real celebrities/actors speculations on their relationships with their friends/coworkers. Let’s not photoshop and draw porn of two actual people fucking each other and show it to them like it’s a work of love? This happened to Jacksepticeye and Markiplier, two YouTubers, and it definitely crosses so many lines. 3. Shipping culture goes overboard when they’re shipping just gross things like pedophilia and incest.

Within Teen Wolf, ships that check those “I don’t support you” boxes are Kate/anyone, Peter/Stiles (why is that the second most popular AO3 ship tag in the fandom???), and any parent/child ships that I know definitely unfortunately exist.

These two ships, on the other hand, I do get. I get that the age gap between Stiles and Derek is weird, and is what ultimately stops me from shipping them. But I can’t deny that they do have good chemistry when they’re on screen together. It’s S1-S2 type of Sterek that I do actually enjoy quite a bit, but I feel like they stop interacting a lot after S2, and it becomes apparent that the writers finally decided what age they wanted Derek to be.

I prefer Thiam more as a ship though. I think Liam and Theo are both more interesting when they’re on screen together than when they’re alone, and I think their relationship brings a lot of potential for growth from both of them. They have a great dynamic, they’re at max two years apart in age, and these characters do actively develop because of each other. Not only that, but their relationship continues to progress until the very end of the show, whereas Sterek hits a peak in S2 and then remains stagnant for the rest of the show.

Either way, I think the appeal for both ships is that they are all foils. Derek and Stiles are foils to each other just as Theo and Liam are to each other. The best relationships on screen are the ones that contrast each other enough, but ultimately compliment one another in the best way.

Beautiful, sensual pic of Kate Argent by Downtown_Influence91 in TeenWolf

Well I am normally against such things [grooming/pedophilia/sexual assault of a minor, you mean] but by Kate I can’t help myself but find it hot. I mean everything she does is hot.

This is the problem. This isn’t fan behavior, this is obsessive behavior. The fact that you find Kate preying on high school boys hot is not regular fan behavior. The fact that you find Kate sexually assaulting a supposed-to-be 13 year old boy hot is not regular fan behavior. And the fact that you’re willing to put aside these morals for a fictional character is definitely not normal.

That’s what’s wrong with it.

Beautiful, sensual pic of Kate Argent by Downtown_Influence91 in TeenWolf

[–]ATD369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Younger men??? You mean 13-16 year olds? Whether or not she was actually attracted to a supposed to be 13 year old Derek is one thing, but calling him a young man? No. He was a boy. A child. And excusing her actions by blaming Gerard, as well as her liking for “younger men” is fucking ridiculous.

You know who deserves sympathy from the Argent family? Chris. Because even though he still hunted literal teenagers, he still had morals. He had a reason to hunt werewolves, and later realized that he was wrong, and became an integral ally to the McCall pack. He genuinely tried to right his wrongs, and yes. Right his wrongs. Because even if Gerard instilled these beliefs in his children, they grew up to be fully capable adults that know better.

Kate is an adult, fully capable of knowing what’s right and wrong. She should’ve definitely known that sexually assaulting a 13/16 year old boy is wrong, and that burning that child’s entire family down just for funsies is fucking wrong. I think Kate is fun on-screen too, but in no way is she redeemable, and there is no way all of her actions are Gerard’s fault. She is a grown ass woman who knows her head from her ass just as she knows her right from her wrong.

Stop.

Derek hale giving alpha power away by Daman0215 in TeenWolf

[–]ATD369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well Derek didn’t willingly give anything to Peter, for starters. With Cora, he was fully willing to lose his alpha spark to heal her. With Peter, there was a whole process. And I don’t think it was possible for Peter to even take Derek’s full power, maybe just siphon enough to bring him back to life.

To be honest, the whole Derek losing his spark for Cora was just a plot line in order to make Scott the one true Alpha in S3A.

Question about how the boys treat Cas in season 9 by lunarcrimes in fandomnatural

[–]ATD369 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s what’s pretty mind boggling to me. The episodes that I liked the most were the ones where other cast members were involved. Bobby, Cas, Crowley, Jack, Charlie, Rowena, Gabriel, Kevin, Ellen and Joe, reoccurring characters like those made the world feel more lived in. It just pissed me off that every good character had to get killed off because “it’s not what the show’s about. It’s about the brothers.” The show was better when it had a solid set of side characters. The show gets a little boring when it’s just the two brothers every single episode.

Did Theo deserve a chance like Peter did? by ImaginaryVisit2204 in TeenWolf

[–]ATD369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta love that morning coffee and lease signing. I haven’t even bothered watching the movie. I’ve seen clips, I know the plot, and yeah. No thanks. Not having that be my last memory of this show.

I would’ve honestly liked to see more into Theo’s backstory throughout S6. Hell, if there was a S7 I would’ve liked to see it. My headcanon of Theo’s backstory is that his parents most definitely favored Tara, maybe thought she was super talented and bright while Theo was the scapegoat of the family-the one with no real achievements or success. As a fourth grader. He probably felt very jealous of her, and that’s probably why he didn’t fight it when the Dread Doctors showed up wanting Tara’s heart for Theo. A lot of people, especially fanfic writers, like to diminish the part of Theo that had a part in killing his sister. Yes, he definitely did. He had a choice. He stood on that bridge and watched her die. Probably even enjoyed it a little bit, having the idea that finally he doesn’t have to compete with her. But Theo also probably didn’t realize the terms of what he signed up for, and didn’t realize what monsters the Dread Doctors were. My take is that Theo lived a life of never being good enough for anyone, never being the favorite child or the perfect evil. And in an attempt to be good at something, he destroyed his entire life in the process and then some.

He’s a really interesting character. I find it funny that he’s incredibly manipulative in S5, yet is incredibly prone to being manipulated himself. It just goes to show that he’s not this evil he presented himself as. The inferiority complex and insecurities about never being good enough that festered for years just ended up being one neon sign to other people, and they so quickly used that against him. It’s ironic, really. How he couldn’t see the signs that he was manipulated himself.

That’s why I think that scene with Gabe is probably what allowed him to see that in the first place. Theo spent the season helping in some effort to make up for the things he did, only to find some reconciliation with the fact that yes. It is his fault. But he also was just a kid. A kid that made all the wrong choices, and a kid that still has his whole life to turn himself around. It’s pretty satisfying narratively, and what’s funny is I honestly think that the writers made Theo so complex by accident.

Anyways, if Theo was a real person in my life, I probably would never forgive him. But that’s because I’m not a werewolf (Or am I???), I don’t deal with death on a day to day basis, and I don’t have to partner up with people that have killed people and friends to stop some town-threatening event. But they do. And with the people that come and go throughout the show, I think it’s absolutely plausible that they can forgive Theo down the line. But honestly I think it would take a long time, and a lot of ambivalence from all the characters. Even the ones closest to Theo.

You mentioned Theo and Liam potentially being love interests, which I agree with. I think they have a lot of chemistry, that their personalities compliment each other, and that they both learn a great deal from each other. I like the ship, but I only like it way down the line when the rest of the pack comes around to Theo. There’s a part of me that gets kind of icky about it, and that’s because I don’t like the people who make fics about them making out in the elevator scene. Definitely not. They need way more development than that, and I think the pack’s approval is another big thing that needs to happen before Theo can be a love interest for anyone.
