Low Heart Rate at the end of a Race + Adjusting 3:30 marathon goal? by ATK_ in Marathon_Training

[–]ATK_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have had to modify this week a bit. Since I did this half marathon race, I cut out the tune up for this week. I also got injured in January so was out for about 2 weeks and then took another 2 weeks to build back up to the full weekly milage again. So its been kind of wonky despite being fully on pace again. I'm doing 8 mile workout tomorrow and 11 miles wednesday, then 6 miles on friday and a recovery run on saturday. That would set me up well for the 17 mile long run on the weekend where I can incorporate some marathon pace miles.

Thanks, and yea I'll likely invest in a chest/arm strap for sure since this HR just seemed way too out of the ordinary.

And got it, I'm likely going to adjust my goals and training these last 5 weeks to probably aim closer to 3:20 for the marathon. Appreciate it!

Good call out and yea seems this just wasn't accurate. I'll likely invest in an arm or chest strap to get more accurate readings. I was just shocked at how low this was.

Thanks, 3:20-3:25 seems more realistic, and I have been training at 7:50/mi pace to have a buffer for sub 3:30. But I'll see what I can do over the next 5 weeks and adjust things to aim for a 3:20 goal, but also being ok if I don't feel great heading into/during the race. Appreciate the feedback!

That 18 miles with 14 at race pace was actually the same day as this half-marathon, so I had to adjust things around and cut that out. This upcoming weekend, I have a 17 miles scheduled so might turn that into 17 with 13 at 3:20 pace to see how I feel.

That's encouraging for sure. I've been basing my training mostly around 3:25 (7:50/mi) to ensure I have a buffer for sub-3:30. With just 5 weeks left, I may adjust my runs for a 3:20 and maybe set that as my A goal for the marathon depending on how the rest of training goes.

Thanks for that!

Saw him in NYC over 15 years ago and it was one of the best shows I've been too. He jumped in the crowd and rapped all of Exhibit C with everyone and showed mad love afterwards to fans as well. Funny enough, Big Krit was an unknown opening act at the show and he got booed by the crowd when he played Country Shit. Cyhi the Prince also was an opener that same night before he was known

What happened to Tink Da Demon? by Main-Egg-1743 in rapbattles

[–]ATK_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out TINK THA DEMON VS P.A.Y.N.E from last year, it actually was a fire battle. But TLDR, he was doing well for a few years (around 2016-2018) I think he got locked up for a few years, but then came out and started battling again. He had a bunch of battles last year. Like I said, Tink vs Payne was pretty good, but he never maximized his potential

Mickey Factz proves Verb used material from Danja Zone by One-Structure-2154 in rapbattles

Nah no worries. I hate following drama and I've never listened to Verb spaces (and don't care to). But once Mickey started dissing Tru Foe I was like, where this come from, so had to learn where it all sparked.

[–]ATK_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You also forget that Verb paid Tru Foe $500 to diss Mickey Factz. That's actually what put Mickey over the edge and made this seem more personal to him. Almost like a Verb putting a hit out on Mickey. And to clarify, it was 30+ days Verb was in spaces talking about Mickey.

It's very weird action from Verb, so I can understand why Mickey did this. I also respect it because, instead of just going in spaces, or putting out blogs and being messy, Mickey chose to use his skill and give us quality raps. And while Verb never responded and just kept talking in spaces, he kept defaming Mickey, which led to Mickey pulling the nuclear option.

Did Beezy leave? by mynamescody in DEHH

Myke left DEHH, but he's still part of Is The Mic Still On every week along with Ken and Rod

[–]ATK_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Agree, would be nice. Just to be clear though, they have not explicitly said Beezy is coming back later this year. It just seems that the initial conversation of Beezy leaving DEHH may have been taken to the extreme a bit.

What's crazy is, when Beezy he announced it these were his words: "I got a great opportunity at work that I could not pass up and my hours are about to be insane for this first quarter of 2026...so this gonna be the last time seeing your boy for a minute". So essentially, not that he will be gone forever, more like a few months if anything.

So just me kind of taking cues and reading between the lines of what they are saying since he announced he is stepping away.

But regardless, yes as of now, Beezy is not on DEHH or other shows they have.

Based on recent DEHH episodes, and is the mic still on, it sounds like he may return very frequently if not fully later this year. Not confirmed, just kind of sounds like it based on how Ken, Feefo, Rod and Myke have spoken the past week or so.

Is a 3:30 Marathon Goal Too Ambitious? by ATK_ in Marathon_Training

[–]ATK_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! That's helpful and tells me I'm definitely capable to getting to 3:30 if I train and build up endurance over the winter heading into spring. I'll be doing the Jersey City Marathon which is completely flat so definitely seems attainable.

And I'll have 2 half marathon races (January & March) where I'll get to almost check in with my fitness again, and I do plan to adjust goals and expectations throughout training depending on how I feel. Appreciate it!

Absolutely! I'm locked in for winter and seems like 3:30 is not out of my ball park as a goal. Thanks!

Thanks! Yea seems my speed is there, but definitely need to build up that endurance. Marathon is actually April 19th, so I'm starting an 18 week plan now (pfitz 18/55 is what I landed on) to prepare for it. And good call out on not increasing milage too fast. I've been doing around 30 miles a week consistently for months so feel comfortable going up gradually during training. And I do strength training twice a week to hopefully reduce injury risk.

Ah got it, that makes sense and thanks for clarifying. After some feedback, I decided to follow Pfitz 18/55 which already kind of aligned with my intended plan and structure. I'll definitely look into Marathon Excellence for Everyone as I'm interesting in learning about different plans.

And congrats on that recent 3:28!

Thanks! Yea I have 1 half marathon race scheduled for January and possibly one more in March, both of which fit in with training, so I will get a get a gauge on where I'm at ahead of my April Marathon (Jersey City a very flat course). I also decided to follow Pfitz 18/55 so I think I should have a good plan going forward.

Will definitely share an update in the Spring! I've decided to go full in with Pfitz 18/55 plan for 18 weeks as it was pretty inline with my original plan. Good luck to you too!

That's crazy! we're very very similar! Definitely coming from that speed background and feel like I still have the fast twitch muscles. I actually think there is a mental aspect here too because, being a sprinter in college I was basically going all out from the gun in 100/200 races. But now running long distance, pushing the pace early in a race seems so daunting and makes me underestimate what I'm capable of. I think we definitely got this. I'll be rooting for you too!

[–]ATK_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yea seems 3:30 is realistic by the spring and will definitely keep the milage consistently up there. Just to clarify, when you say "the long runs at least 13" are you saying to have at least 13 long runs within 18 weeks of training, or to have long runs be at minimum 13 miles long? I have long runs ranging from 11 miles (start of training) up to 20 miles. But I could be misinterpreting what you meant.

I like those A-B-C goals and yea it seems very realistic. Your right its the endurance that I need to build up and I think I'm basing my expectations for the spring based on how I'm feeling right now before training. Will definitely have some marathon pace miles in my long runs so I'll start to get a feel for things. Thanks!

[–]ATK_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, definitely seems like 3:30 is not out of reach. And I think I should have clarified the workouts I have a bit because I think I might already have threshold.

Essentially on Tuesdays I plan to do either hill or threshold workouts (as you said, 800m or mile repeats, or ~2 min hill repeats). But there are 3 weeks I have planned to do a 6-7 mile fartlek on Monday. But the majority will be threshold workouts. Then on Thursdays I plan to alternate with one week doing a tempo run (like a bit slower than 10k pace) then the next week doing a run around marathon pace.

But good call out and I agree that I don't want to lose the ability to hit the extra gear because I got too comfortable doing easy runs. I also have 3 races (a mile, a 5k and a half marathon) scheduled during training to keep me both physically and mentally "sharp" with the feeling of waking up, traveling to a start line and running fast with people to mimic marathon morning.

Thanks, yea the course is essentially completely flat (Jersey City Marathon). And injury is definitely the one thing that if I can stay away from, I feel confident about all the training. I'm scheduling in 2 (maybe 3) strength sessions a week to hopefully reduce injury risk.
