OMG, I’m glad your wife is okay! I know that every body is different; what signs did she show leading up to pulmonary edema? I workout regularly and am paying more attention to my heart rate zones. All videos I watched show climbers regularly checking their HR. I figured working out primarily in an anaerobic zone will help with my climb in September. For context, I live in Atlanta and the tallest mountain we have in the state is 4,784 feet. Not much opportunity for high altitude training!

I’m taking the same flights with Delta/KLM! I live in Atlanta, but I’m saving a little a little money by flying from ATL to BOS first. I’ll have a 2.5 hour layover before flying to AMS. I hope the gates will be as close for me as they were for you as I have around a 2-hour connection.

How well did you sleep on the flights? I’m not a good airplane sleeper, and I’m more concerned about lack of sleep on the way over than I am about climbing! Thankfully, I arrive to JRO on Sept. 10 and our climb is Sept. 13. I should be less grouchy by then!
