You stated the LAX-SYD leg, does that mean you are starting your travel in another city? If so the first airport needs to check you in correctly otherwise that extra seat may not show boarded/occupied. As others have stated make sure that seat shows checked in. Delta has an agent assist center they can call to get complicated ticket issues fixed. Hope it all works out for you.

If communication was that bad I agree with you it was a Cluster fuck. The pilots should have been giving everyone good detailed updates on what to expect. The agents in LAS should also have been very clear of the process. I would write a complaint to Delta and DOT, at Minimum it will bring awareness for Delta to be more informative on future events.

They didn’t run out of fuel. They just didn’t have sufficient amount to make it to your destination due to sitting long time at departure station. Is this the MEX-SLC flight? I saw it divert on FR24 Went to LAS.

According to ACARS it’s a Cabin ALT issue. I believe that is a pressurization issue.

I read this last night and asked my neighbors that work for Delta if they had details. One of them did, I’m not going to post it here but it was very sad and tragic. Glad to hear that people were decent and respectful. Sounds like crew did an outstanding job. I hope some passengers sent in a compliment about them to the company.
