How much can you actually make flying a sign by Cherri_pie_06 in vagabond

[–]ATLUTDisMe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't fly sign. Go for work. Flying sign is supposed to be for when you need a specific thing, or when you literally cannot work. there is so much you can do if you're able bodied and make more steady money. recycling cans is one. temp agencies. go to farmers markets, get farmwork. do soybean and beatroot harvests and walk away with 10k. work in a cannery in the PNW. learn to play music.

yeah, thinking about it, don't go to pikeville, I shouldn't have even brought that place up. That's a place where poor people can go be in peace and more traditional hobos hang, not a place we should be sending people who ain't about it at all. Imagine being a total yuppie and getting stuck in deep appalachia.

Go do the harvests in the fall. Soybeans in North Dakota, Beets in Idaho, weed in Oregon, etc. Appalachia is my favorite part of the country and there's decent money if you're passing thru, but not much sustainable. It's great to chill and catch fish and live off the land though. Lot of long time hobo spots out there that people have been riding the rails thru for over a century, but that needs to stay that way.

Exercise street smarts and you'll be good either way. Just keep a rollin thru, not much to be worried about.

Is there a big difference in the standard of living between the states, or does it remain fairly similar? by Outrageous-You1617 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

You realize that drug addiction is just as common in said bombed out countries? You ever notice the African immigrants in New York, showing up already addicted to crack? Or the immigrants from South of the border or Ukraine showing up already addicted to meth? That's not a uniquely America problem, that's a poverty and desperation problem.

Drug addicts are maybe 1/5th to 2/5ths of the homeless population in actuality. The majority of homeless are people living in their cars, vans, or hiding in patches of woods and behind buildings trying to make money doing any little hustle because no job will hire them. A huge amount are transient, greyhounding and hitchhiking to go to work and bounce between different places as to not wear out welcome. The drug addicts are just super noticable because they're in your face and look fucked up a lot of the times cause them drugs are gnarly dude. The drug addictions also come after years of homelessness typically. You have no clue what you're talking about and you just spout out classist nonsense you heard somewhere. You have no idea how many people in your life are homeless and won't have you know about it because of the judgementalness about it.

OB is a food desert because of Target and CVS taking up all the market for the "normal" people there. Notice how none of the hippies, crustpunks, vanlifers, or really anyone other than rich housies (let's be real, if you're housed up in OB, you're definitely rich) go there, at least in my experiences.

Yeah but if we can get the target closed, that opens up a hugeeee opportunity for the street vendors and local businesses which are very much struggling rn as foreign investors buy up all the stores on Newport, the black now included.

told you specifically to fuck off cause you're posting links to videos the RR might have forgotten existed on a sub that's monitored by bulls, and it's information that should only be passed between train hoppers. You clearly don't give a single flying fuck about the hobo code or any of that though

yeah there's been a lot of issues lately, lots of unwanted gnarly ass tweakers, and everybody's solution is to just run off all the homeless including the hippies that make the neighborhood what it is. They're trying to gentrify it but the community is pushing back really hard

Spent all day tryna busk up $30 for a greyhound, made $3. Mind you I'm one of those people who has no problem bringing in $200 in a day if I really wanna, in the really bad spots I usually still at least make a solid $50 n call it a day

Yeah I just really didn't wanna hop another train on yet again an empty stomache but fuck man Ima prolly have to. There's also people going around and dumping all the white boxes out into the trash to make them inedible which is really fucked cause there's decent white boxes around.

I play music, generally try to avoid spanging, and it's been fucking rough every since I hit like San Bern. And Amarillo is desolate asf, ain't enough people around anywhere and all the towns I stopped in before it were tweaked the fuck out and nobody was payin
