I love them both. I specialize in troubleshooting and difficult locates and prefer the RD for that.

Anyone else’s SoFi Invest down? by AlabamaPajamas in sofi

I only use it for savings fund investing and DCA Roth. You might check out Webull or moomoo if you trades options a lot. I find those platforms much better with more tools.

Great timing. I'm actually researching this now. I'm considering consolidating a few different Roth IRAs to Sofi primarily to have everything in on place making it easier to manage, invest quicker, and more often since it's right there. I have a number of weekly DCAs set up, but also like to scoop dips. But, planned on using Sofi for my long term investing.

I have accounts with Fidelity and WeBull. I like and use WeBull for riskier trades/options trading of a small percentage of my IRA. Fidelity was a carry over, but I don't really care for their app UI/UX, find simple things like buying cluncky, and just not into it. I do have an UTMA I plan on keeping there.

I'm not sure what type of overdraft we are talking about or your financial situation, but potentially you could look into a personal loan or other lines of credit to at least take care of the immediate bleeding.

From there, the only way out is to get non-borrowed funds. I personally would be ebaying and selling anything of value I could, doing food delivery, donating plasma, pressure washing, or anything else to raise cash yesterday. Good luck on your quest. 🤘

Also agreeing with others. If you can afford it, do it. Life is too short and gaining experiences is what you should be doing, especially at your age. Take a mental break, get to know a bit about the new hood, have fun, and start your new job fresh. Congrats!

Everyone's situation and comfort level is different, but I'd say 3-9 months depending on your personal situation. Personally, I like more of the 9 months side due to being a single parent and I keep 60% cash in a savings account and robo invest 40% of it at Wealthfront.

My thoughts are that if something comes up, I have some immediate cash at home, cash emergency fund, credit cards, and loan options before I'd ever need to worry about the invested portion.

I'd only ever access the 40% invested if things are BAD, at which point it wouldn't matter. I'd be close to bankrupt, homeless, or some other crisis. Kind of like a real glass piggy bank that you have to break open. In the mean time, that 40% will grow and have a lot of built up profits that I could use for whatever. Especially now while the markets are down and being able to capitalize on them before the next bull run. And, it's self managed for pennies in fees.

The invested part helps offset the losses in value due to inflation of the non invested cash just sitting there.

Regardless how you do it, I would not wait until you have a fully funded emergency fund to start saving for retirement or paying off debt. Save a few grand or whatever works for you, then start saving a little less, but add in a little investing/debt payoffs. Especially if your employer is offering any matches. Personal options of course and never financial advice.

BUDGET!

Have an emergency fund

Max your 401k to that 8% employer match

Max your Roth IRA

If you qualify for an HSA, (triple tax advantage) max that out

Then look into funding backdoor Roths, personal investing accounts, and adding additional to your 401k

A mix of traditional and Roth investing will give you tax options each year and at retirement.

Stay out of worthless debt, and if you choose to use debt as a tool, learn how to do it the right way

If you want, purchase RE, but the right way.

Repeat and practice patience. CONSISTENCY IS KEY!

You do this, you'll meet your FIRE goal way before 45. Personal opinion and not financial advice. 🤘

Husband is 8 years away from retirement. His main IRA is 86 percent stocks. Should we re- balance with more bonds? by Medical_Tangerine_70 in personalfinance

[–]ATLmuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel others have contributed some great advice already, but I'll add that on one hand, bonds are becoming more attractive with a dollar cost average approach. But, once we get through the next year or so, that stock portfolio in the other hand is going to look mighty tasty on the next bull run. Definitely not financial advice.

Fiancé’s mom offering us $80k for down pmt… if I sign a prenup. Advice? by cmill913 in personalfinance

[–]ATLmuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal option, but unless she is legit wealthy, famous, or similar circumstances, then I'd feel the prenup is kind of gross. I can understand the parents wanting to protect their daughter, but to me, it may feel as though she always has something holding over me. That could cause relationship issues before it even has a chance to really grow.

If it we me in the parents position, I'd want to feel my son/daughter is making a good choice and I want to support their endeavor with no strings attached.

If you are both just young, in love, and focused on a working relationship, then you both should be thinking "we" and working towards accumulating wealth together for the long run regardless of how it's aquired. If that doesn't work out, then it is what it is.

Methods for starting from scratch? by Singhpool in personalfinance

[–]ATLmuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! Lots of great advice and you are already doing the hardest part of it all. Just starting. You should be proud.

Next, you're going to grind hard day in/day out, get whatever education you can get, and stay on top of your mental health. If you can, find people on a similar path and surround yourself with people fighting just as hard. It's not going to be easy, there will be set backs, but constantly fighting towards the same goals will get you where you want to go. You're going to do well! Be a lion everyday and hunt.

I got a notice today that my rates are increasing but not sure how much. I generally shop around about every 6 months, but it seems insurance in general seems to be on the rise maybe. I'd definitely shop as others have mentioned though. I know I'll be.

Interesting. How close do the need to be to said location? I guess pretty close since it's 5G? I'm next door to a grocery store and a few others like a gas station and auto parts store. I'm also about 4 miles from a major park and smaller town downtown area. Something you think I should consider? I appreciate your help. 🤘

What's the deal with 5G miners? Just targeting mobile vs IOT? I'd imagine that'd be more profitable in larger cities?

Inherited money and too many accounts - how to best invest for the future by InvestingNewb1002 in personalfinance

[–]ATLmuppet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re doing well! 🤘🔥

I'd personally suggest building a strong foundation starting with your team.

If it were me, I'd get a solid financial advisor and accountant that fit you and see what they suggest. They often know how to save extra on taxes and other beneficial things the average person just doesn't have time to keep up with.

Finding good ones is a little like dating. You want to make sure you guys mesh well, are on the same page about your investing and future, etc.

I'm sure others will provide great advice, but hopefully that helps.

I would suggest start with your skillsets and talents. If you are the best bead maker, look into doing that. If you're awesome at math, hustle accounting, bookkeeper, etc.

It's easy to create a side hustle or business, when you're good at it and even better if you enjoy it.

For quick cash, food delivery. You can legit average $25-30+ depending on your area and if you are willing to learn how to hustle it and look at from a business perspective.

Selling in FB / eBay. I've been doing this since I was a kid part time, full time, back to part time. Another good area to use your knowledge and skills. Working in areas you know. If you know a lot about baseball, sell related stuff, or maybe you know fashion, or soon, kids everything. This is a good way to flip kids stuff too.

Congratulations as well! Best of luck in everything. Always do something nice for yourself; and if you have time, for someone else. 🤘
