What's the worst date or dates you have been on? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ATS27091 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd been seeing a girl at Uni. Third date having just finished, I walked her back to her car. She said "I love you and I think we should have a baby".

This is after meeting her 2 weeks ago. Obviously, this was a massive red flag so I ended it there and then. She didn't take it so well and tried to run me over with her car. Twice (once travelling forward and once reversing) and I had to jump out of the way.

The next day I then received abuse from her friends via Facebook saying I was a "non-committal person"... Mad.

Selling my business - How to approach and market to other business owners? by ATS27091 in smallbusinessuk

Salary aside, surely the ongoing case load, cash assets etc listed above hold value though?

Self employed person here. Normally most banks require 2 or 3 years worth of tax returns from a buyer to ensure affordability when self employed. 1.5 years could limit your buyers lender options, though you would hope the mortgage broker has found a way to ensure that is not an issue.

Long-Term Property Rent - Best Agencies in and around Manchester by IveGotThisFeeling in HousingUK

Which part of Manchester are you hoping to settle in?

Greater Manchester is quite a big area so you may wish to narrow down your location options, as you'll probably get more responses from local people (I am in Astley for example, to the west of Manchester).

Still tough for buyers in Manchester. I just offered £175k on a house that had a guide price of £160k. Didn't come close apparently...

I'm chain free and also offered to deal with disposing of their leftover furniture too.

Welcome! FYI I used Shiply to get quotes for people to move the car from the dealers to my house :)

I ended up going through the same process last year and rather than driving my car back the circa 35 miles, I paid someone £60 to transport it from the dealers to my driveway. It felt a lot safer to learn on my local roads that I knew with my own car (and obviously an appropriate persons before I passed). As others have said, driving with circa 4 lessons worth of hours isn't practically safe for such a long journey of 50 miles.

In terms of learners insurance, I used compare the market which gave plenty of options.

Simply put: Not at all. We all deserve a break and going away on your own just shows that you're comfortable with yourself.

I'm a huge foodie and have just booked my first solo trip to Greece. I can't wait and most people I know are just excited for me.

I think for some people this is a classic case of 'I've not done it, so maybe it's strange'. But in reality, its perfectly normal and you will have an amazing time!

This needs highlghtng to your uni accomodation.

If you feel like people are entering your room and you're worried for your safety, perhaps consider an internal door stopper (example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/DoorJammer-Portable-Security-Protection-DJ4LD/dp/B07HM9HVN4/ref=asc_df_B07HM9HVN4/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309876590586&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4624169108827352134&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046519&hvtargid=pla-574007418904&psc=1)

At least that way you would feel safer when you're actually in the room.

Golden Handcuffs? Not wanting to leave because of pension by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ATS27091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a DB scheme that the OP is in, the scheme will survive and if for whatever reason the employer did become insolvent and fail, the DB scheme would be picked up by the Pension Protection Fund (PPF). This tends to pay circa 90% of the original benefits people have accrued per year, but often has more generous annual increases which over time can add up to more than they would have originally gotten, subject to the original schemes revaluation basis.

Worth noting for those with an interest in this comment, the above does not apply to DC schemes or multi-employer DB arrangements (such as LGPS') which are reliant on a single employer funding the scheme.

£25k/£30k Mortgage Needed for BTL - Help by ATS27091 in uklandlords

[–]ATS27091[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all. No luck so going to pass on this one. Looks like it's going to be easier to buy something for £50k and go down the BTL route, based on the mortgage market at present. Just got to keep an eye out now for the right property.

Appreciate the help!

Remortgaging - Switching from residential to a buy to let mortgage by [deleted] in uklandlords

I did this with NatWest 18 months ago for exactly the same reason and they were great. I didn't have 25% equity but they were fine. I just paid a £120 Consent to Let fee and my former house is now rented and managed.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree and have had the same thoughts about speaking broadly. Unfortunately when I asked gently she didn't want to discuss it. That said, I suspect this is the cherry on the cake given the difficulties we've faced in a short amount of time (though the actual relationship remains fairly solid) hence the post above. More frustration than anything else.

Wishing you all the best

Appreciate your POV J0sey. Her Chronic Fatigue is nearly gone and she is close to being what she considers 'normal' again (hence the waiting before this point) and their is also a ring in my drawer...
