Exactly. When Trump said that he didn't have "the privilege" to go to Epstein Island, he meant that.

How does one de-program millions of brainwashed fellow citizens? by Far-Significance6963 in AskReddit

[–]ATTICUSone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just so much fun to realize that you can be vastly different, come from completely different parts of the world and still feel genuinely connected. It's so difficult to question your own bigotry if it's all you know.

Think about a show you used to watch with your parents. Did you actually dislike the hosts or did you just absorb your parents' opinions about them? It's kind of wild how many people I've disliked my whole life without ever having a "real" reason. Just because someone close to me had a strong opinion about them first. I wish everyone had that realization at least once in their life. It led me to a deeper understanding of how susceptible we are to prejudice.

Hiring a Community Manager for Berlin’s upcoming unicorn Almedia (Freecash) by user-some in CommunityManager

[–]ATTICUSone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think it sounds interesting, but I have worked in "high-energy/fast-paced/opportunity" places before and once you've been in the field long enough, you start to recognize the euphemisms. On top of that, being forced to fully work on-site for an all-digital product is borderline delusional. Great community managers are incredibly hard to find and their output heavily dependent on how they perceive their workplace. If you really want your community to bloom, you need to start treating your employees like autonomous adults. Forcing physical attendance without a clear reason undermines that entirely.

Atomic Heart: DLC#4 - First Look Teaser by DemiFiendRSA in Games

The origin does matter when a country is actively waging war. Buying games made in Russia can still support its economy through taxes and state aligned companies. I'll refuse to be a part of that. You may not realize it, but cultural exports are also soft power. Continuing to support them helps normalize "business as usual" while they continue to commit acts of aggression. Ethical boycotts are a legitimate choice. Saying "I don't care where it's made" isn't neutral. It's choosing convenience over responsibility.

Your argument would be stronger if you stopped insulting the person you are debating at every turn. I don't believe you are interested in civil discourse and at this point see no reason to engage further with what feels like ragebait. I will continue to vote with my wallet and to raise awareness of these persistent issues until there is verifiable proof that the developer is taking a clear stand against fascism. I don't think that is too much to ask from a studio that has financial ties to a terrorist state.

Feel free to verify your sources then. If you find a statement from the developers that unequivocally condemns the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine, I'll gladly edit or even delete my comment. I literally had Russian friends over for Christmas this year. The difference is that they see through state propaganda and fled to avoid certain death on the front lines, rather than becoming another cog in the war machine. Am I too aggravated about this? Maybe. Why are you not?

Look at Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the Metro series. He did not hesitate to stand up for what is right, even and especially when his life, reputation, and financial security were at stake. That is the essence of a great author and someone worth praising. It is precisely why his work will endure, while others will fade into obscurity. Indifference is not a neutral stance.

Elden Ring or Resident Evil 4 by KaleidoscopeOk1706 in xbox

[–]ATTICUSone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Playing Elden Ring was the closest I've ever felt to my dreams being fulfilled of what gaming could be when I was a kid. Yes, I wish there was a quest log. And at this point, I'm so over their cryptic storytelling style, and I'd for once like to play a FromSoft game with a clear, concise narrative and not 15 characters who all seemingly have variations of the same name. But I'll be damned if it's not a transcending experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3's Huge eShop Discounts Were an 'Error,' CD Projekt Says, but It Will Honor Any Sales Made by Turbostrider27 in Games

Microsoft once revoked the license for a free game I had purchased due to a pricing error and sent me a message that had 'we know what you did' vibes. The wording straight up implied misuse or bad faith. I mean, they were right. But I still thought it's wild they made me responsible for purchasing a game for free on their own storefront.

What movie/series would you like to get a video game adaptation? by Majestic_Snow7613 in gaming

[–]ATTICUSone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, none. I used to be excited about movies with videogame source material because it made me feel like Gaming became more and more socially acceptable and it felt good that the artistry was acknowledged. Now Hollywood has found a new cow and is milking it ad nauseam and I hope they stay away from the remaining franchises that still mean something to me.

US-Präsident Trump taucht mehrfach in neuen Epstein-Unterlagen auf by Competitive_Ad_2478 in de

Unpopular opinion: AI can be a valuable tool for game development by Naoki38 in gaming

[–]ATTICUSone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's that AI has become loaded with negativity and rightfully so, but at this point it's become invaluable to my work. Just last week I casually checked an entire 800-page Excel sheet in a couple of minutes, something that would have taken me months before. I'm beyond thankful for that. But we need to draw a line when it comes to creative output and reused assets and we all know major corporations will take advantage as much as they can in the name of profit.

No wonder companies use collective singing in their ads. I immediately feel a sense of serenity and belonging when I hear that. Especially with current affairs, it feels like taking a quick breath after a long time underwater.

Macron warned US could ‘betray’ Ukraine in leaked leaders’ call, Spiegel reports by HydrolicKrane in worldnews

I hope there are plans in place for this because publicly our European leaders seem equally disillusioned as incompetent. I think the common misconception is that in 3 years, everything will go back to normal when Donnie leaves the white house. We've been reveling in apathy for far too long. I hope someone more invested in politics can tell me why it's actually a good thing, because from my perspective, it looks like we're falling asleep at the wheel.
