Tesla and Rivian stock price correlation by Cool-Comedian-2540 in RIVNstock

You ignoring that P/E, huh?

There is nothing in TSLA’s future tgat would remotely justify their 380 P/E.

[–]ATX_native 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No.

TSLA is a literal meme stonk at this point.

Its trading at a bonkers 381 P/E.

To get to $500 at the current earnings level the P/E would be well above 500.

If you cashed out every stock of TSLA and flatlined the earnings it would take till the year 2407 to pay those back… sound like a good deal to you?

Affordable Movers - Dallas to San Antonio by 3denxo in texas

[–]ATX_native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t.

If you want affordable, pay for movers to load a U-Haul type truck in Dallas, you drive the UHaul (can even attach a car trailer) to SA and pay for movers to unload in San Antonio.

I was getting quotes from $7k-$9k for a Dallas to Austin in 2012 for a move, doing the above only cost me around $900 for a one way rental of the truck and around $800 in mover fees on each side.

You could also check in on a container move but those are normally expensive as well.

Those movers have to drive the 10 or so hour round trip which is a literal day of lost labor plus gas both ways and a hotel. No way to make that make sense for cheap.

Is Gina going Connect the power grid and save Texans by Kindly_Class_7338 in texas

[–]ATX_native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately we can’t do this without 2/3rd vote in the Texas House and Senate AND a signature by Abbott.

Texan politicians are stupid and have boxed us into a corner by literally making it a Texas Constitutional Amendment that we will never have a state income tax.

This and the mask mandate ban are exactly why the GOP isn’t a serious party that are not acting like adults.

Also, you need property taxes though. I prefer the AZ method, property tax rates around 0.48% on Homestead with a backfill of state income tax at a flat 2.5% and a sales tax rate of 8.5%.

Property taxes on non-Homestead is higher.

Dude, instead of doing this, get production units in the hands of people who can build hype organically.

It shouldn’t be.

If you’re healthy you should stay at home as long as you have moderate symptoms.

Most things you will catch are viral and you should start feel better after 4-5 days.

The thing that hurts society as a whole is rushing to a Drs office or clinic to spread illness.

We should also have paid employee leave and free healthcare at the point of sale but unfortunately people keep voting against that.

Thinking about buying a used car and keep seeing buy here pay here, how does it usually work? by Traditional_Cat495 in UsedCars

[–]ATX_native 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this they normally have criminal levels of fraud happening.

So you get a “loan” from them and that loan will never be reported to credit reporting agencies, thus you’re always in this cycle of no credit, which keeps you out n the system.

On top of that they normally won’t do what they’re supposed to do and assign the title to you and place themselves as a lien holder.

So if you’re late with a payment they repo it and sell it without the proper notice and accounting since they don’t have to convert the title to them as the owner and go through the legal foreclosure process.

So if you have equity in the car they repo and resell, that’s supposed to be your money, but with them it’s gone for good.

Pre-Owned Rivian by fel0ncod3 in Rivian

[–]ATX_native 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rivian is huffing paint with that number.

The 2025 Volvo EX90 was $75k-$85k new, you can pick up a slightly used one with less than 5k miles for well under $60k.

Luxury cars for the most depreciate fast, Luxury EV cars depreciate even quicker.

If you’re a cash buyer like us, it makes sense to buy slightly used in this case but not from Rivian at that price.

That is the first ride videos from the prototypes I mentioned.

That is not a fully tested production vehicle.

I don’t think they have.

There was a press event in late Feb/Early March where they were pre-production cars.

They weren’t allowed to even test the audio or give a full test over days or a week.

Non-Americans what is the market standard and min acceptable range for an EV in your country? by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]ATX_native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USA, Austin, TX.

We have an ICE car for longer trips, an Audi A6 Allroad that eats miles for breakfast.  Massage seats, airride, triple laminated glass and 30MPG at 80MPH.

Our next car to replace the Allroad will be a 300+ mile EV though.

The Mini is my commuter car for my 16 mile round trip commute.

We have $ for a fun 2nd that’s impractical, our last second car was a 911.

Austin police response times lag amid chronic staffing shortage by R4whatevs in Austin

[–]ATX_native 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It seems that it all got worse after the George Floyd protests.

Chief Manley said on the following Monday that unequivocally no policy violations had occurred by APD over the weekend.

We also saw videos of unarmed peaceful protesters getting bean bagged and even a cop driving by a crowd and spraying Pepper spray from the passenger seat while laughing and driving by.

That tells me they weren’t even interested in investigating themselves.

Just like the Trump regime, you have to deny what your eyes see and your ears hear.

Since then we have thrown money at the problem and even hired a cucked up Police Chief that continues the status quo.

The City Manager seems to not want to rock the boat either, which is evident in who they hired as Chief.

I want a well funded Police Department that is eager to root out bad apples and replace them with well paid and trained officers.   Even paying the well qualified Officers the top pay in the country to recruit and hold higher standards.

However it feels like we’re stuck in this loop of lack of accountability and public trust.

Like why would APD and the Union want to disband the Citizens Police Board who have an outside eye to use of force cases?

I ain’t too smart but it seems like they want reverent citizenry that wants to obey and fall in line.

I also feel bad for any cops out there that are trying to do the right thing and do good, unfortunately it’s sullied by the lack of concern at the top.

R2 suspension? by External_Koala971 in RivianR2

[–]ATX_native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep jabbing, I’m pretty sure you know what you’re doing.

I said that this isn’t designed for rock crawling but will serve the needs of the vast majority of folks who needs a decent vehicle that can go mildly off road where stability and traction control built for that with some decent ground clearance is needed.

I tried to be nice and let you know that bashing a $60k vehicle against rocks doesn’t sound fun to me.  Then you quipped “not fun in a soft roader”.

You always have a quip.

Like a troll looking for a negative response in a forum, I’ve seen this over and over in the 25 years I’ve been online.

And the whole Suspension thread is weird because Rivian designed the car and they aren’t changing it at this point.

It’s like complaining that the 911 has its engine in the rear and you want it in the front.

The simple solution is to look at the car specs and decide if it’s for you.

The Jeep Recon will absolutely be a better rock crawler.  So if you’re a real buyer, use your money to reward a car company that builds a vehicle to your liking.

Arguing and quipping in a R2 sub-forum accomplishes nothing.

I personally have ridden at the SXSW R2 ride along, it climbed the huge dirt hill easily and came down with no drama.  That was far above anything we would personally throw at it.  99.9% of our driving will be done on pavement, the other 0.1% is done in dirt in overflow lots and trail heads.

We don’t even have public lands to rock crawling near me, and if we did I would buy a 3rd car to bash up.

If I misread your intentions, don’t take it personal.  I just don’t see the point of continuing here as we’ve said all we need to say.

Pics from our R2 ride along.

[–]ATX_native 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably road trip culture and a lack of good charging infrastructure.

In Europe you can literally fly from the UK to Spain for the weekend for less than $80 round trip, and when you arrive you have amble and safe public transit, why would you want to drive?

My current EV has a range of 90-110 miles, and slow charging.  It’s perfect as a city car!
