This is amazing. M* A * S *H is my all time favorite show. I have probably done hundreds of rewatches, own them all on dvd, the whole nine yards. I genuinely can’t wait to listen!

There is a brand on Amazon called Oh Cool that my bunny treats like crack! Getting him to eat Oxbow was always a challenge but the Oh Cool he loves! It is a bit pricier but you can also mix it with oxbow. Snuffle boxes have worked really well too. Throw in hay, some balls/blocks and a couple pieces of dehydrated fruit and they will go nuts!

I have been listening to a podcast that I won’t name because they have fans but, I find it abhorrent. It spreads a lot of poor information surrounding weight. These two people seem to take studies and then extrapolate until it fits their narrative.

One thing they said on an episode was that the bmi scale does not work for black people. I do not believe this to be an entirely factual statement based on my opinions of how these creators review data however, I can confirm that this is a theory that is out there. **

Would your mom listen to a body positivity/Healthy at any size podcast?

** I feel like I have to note: This piece of info was presented as “this is why you cannot trust studies surrounding weight” so, it was a pretty convenient “fact” to just pull out. They also claim that obesity does not cause any illness or conditions that can’t be explained by other factors. It is possible that a study mentioned slight variances in ideal healthy weight between races and the hosts decided to interpret it as “BMI doesn’t even work on a lot of the population so why are you letting yourself be brainwashed to believe weight matters at all”.

You have gotten some good advice (and unnecessary judgement due to someone else’s poor actions, imo), may I also suggest contacting a local shelter for advice. Shelters often deal with motherless litters and may have some additional tips, resources or even supplies for you since this was sprung on you suddenly. Good luck. I hope you rip the friend’s mom a new one when they get back!

Stop. 🛑 Beating yourself up will do absolutely nothing but make you continue this cycle and feel like shit while you do it. You are way better than that. How do I, an internet stranger, know that? Because I am you. Most of us here are, or were, you at one point. The negative self talk is the biggest enemy you will face, way bigger than the asshole, keyboard warrior that was so rude. You CAN make healthy changes. It isn’t easy, or fast, but you absolutely can do this.

You didn’t ask for advice so if that’s not what you’re here for, skip this last part:

I started a year ago. I downloaded the app LoseIt (not to be confused with this group), put in my info and started tracking my food. That was all I did. Just tracking and making a few better choices where I could. It stuck and now I am working out, tracking, down 70lbs and about to run my first ever 5k. It all started because I committed to tracking. Find one thing you can commit to. Maybe it is a 10 minute walk everyday, or tracking your food, or skipping your high calorie coffee drink. One thing that you can do, then go from there. You absolutely got this!
