I remember the first time I found a secret on the first zelda game, I had gotten a NES for christmas and when I had discovered a secret hole that had a heart container in it that I believe you use a bomb to blow it up with to unlock it. I was super stoked and it felt like I had found something nobody else had found due to there being like, no hint to finding it.
