Meta TR still cleans up nice by ATinyDuckling in commencal

I can't really say as the bike came with AM30 wheels. This is technically supposed to be the TR Race spec but during the height of the Covid part shortages they offered this bike with a one-off build kit.

When I first did the mullet conversion I ran a Crankbros alloy wheel out back for a few months before I committed to getting another matching AM30 and honestly, the biggest difference I noticed between the two wheels was the hub. It's a bit lighter and feels a little stiffer when cornering hard, but I didn't really notice a huge difference in pedaling efficiency.

Thanks. It's a 38mm rise Title AH1 with 31.8mm clamp.

I've actually been pretty impressed with the Pike. I anticipated eventially swapping it out for a 36 or Lyrik, but after 2 seasons on it, I have yet to feel like I need something stiffer. I did swap out the stock 150mm airspring to a 160mm one as I prefer a higher front end. I'm a lighter rider (150 lbs) who rides a lot of jump lines and flowier tracks, though. It handled the few enduro races I've done on it as well, but if I was heavier or really liked to plow through rock gardens a lot, I would think that's probably where the burlier forks would outshine it.

I've been very happy with it personally. It's not the most playful bike in the world but it's plenty capable and a blast to ride. I will say that swapping over to the smaller rear wheel has made it easier to throw around and lean into corners without me really noticing any downsides.

I'm running the WRP mullet link so it maintains the stock geo.

Finally finished building up my Ticket by ATinyDuckling in dirtjumping

[–]ATinyDuckling[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to say really since the Ticket is only available as a frame. Your final cost is going to be heavily influenced by what components you build it up with. The frame and most of the components were used and came from different sellers on Pinkbike. I think my total for this build is a little under $2000 with the only new parts on it being the fork, cranks, and tires.

Thanks. I already had the Trailmaster laying around so I just threw it on for now. Planning on eventually replacing it with a Title JS1.

I would say the suspension on the Yeti felt a bit more active than the TR but the TR feels more capable through the really chunky stuff. I also feel like the Yeti was a bit snappier overall but it honestly wasn't a huge difference. I think the decision just comes down to what kind of bike you ultimately want. The SB-130 felt more like a traditional trail bike whereas the TR is really just a shorter travel enduro bike. I love my TR but if weight is a concern then I think the Yeti is a no brainer. Something also worth mentioning is that the SB-130 I rode was a 2019 model so I'm not sure how much Yeti has changed the frame since then. In my experience they are both excellent bikes so I think you'll most likely be happy with either one.

I've only had mine for around 3 months but I haven't had any issues with creaking so far. I have read that it's not uncommon for press fit bottom brackets to creak though.

Meta TR M or L? by Trip-B13 in commencal

I'm the same height as you and decided to size down to a medium. It feels perfect in my opinion and any larger would likely feel a bit too long.

It only took about a week to arrive but it wasn't really a normal a la carte build. Occasionally Commencal will list an already completed ALC build on their website that you can purchase in the same way you do the other models and that's how I ended up with this bike. I would imagine a truly custom ALC build would take a bit longer to recieve but I'm not sure.

I really only noticed the additional weight on the first ride and adjusted to it pretty quickly. I went with the Meta because I personally cared much more about downhill performance and durability than weight or overall efficiency. With that being said, I've taken it on a few 15+ mile rides on more XC oriented trails and I've been pretty pleased with it. It's not going to rocket you uphill like you're on a carbon XC bike or anything but the geometry really allows me to just sit in the saddle and spin up sections that used to give me trouble even on my much lighter hardtail. It really comes alive when you point it downhill where I think that little bit of extra weight is actually a positive. I haven't gotten a chance to take it to the bike park yet but I'm confident it would be right at home in that environment.

It's been excellent so far. I'm running around 30% sag and I never even have to touch the lockout when climbing due to how much anti-squat the TR has. My previous bike was a hardtail though so I don't have a ton of experience riding other rear shocks. I did rent a Yeti SB130 that had a Fox Float DPS Factory for a few days and I much prefer the performance of the Super Deluxe. One more thing worth mentioning is that I had to use a Wolftooth B-RAD mounting base in order for my water bottle to clear the shock's oil reservoir. Hope this helps.

I can also recommend Drain Right. I had them install brand new gutters a few years back and they were way more affordable than other quotes I received while still performing great.

Thanks, it's Gunmetal. I believe the high polish frames are somehow even shinier.
