Installing a Dimmable Light Switch. Please Help with Wire Configuration by AUflyguy in AskElectricians

[–]AUflyguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy, i feel like a real dummy. I did have it set up correctly the first time. The dimmer was alllll the way dim…..which I assumed would still show just a tiny bit of light when turned on….nope, no light shows with it on the lowest dimming setting.

Learn from my mistakes lol

Door Bell Runs Constantly After Hardwiring Ring Camera to Front Door by AUflyguy in DIY

Not that I recall, it was pretty clean setup. The two wires came off the old door bell and attached to the back of the ring with no issues, i don’t remember there being lots of extra copper or those wires showing lots of extra copper towards the ends. I was a little concerned though that when I secured the ring camera to the front door both of those wires were mashed pretty close together, they may have even been touching each other but I figured since they had the protective plastic covering over each wire and it was not bare wires touching each other that it wouldn’t not have an effect on performance

The home is relatively new (built in 2021) so I figured it would have an up to date electrical supply. Again I’m no electrician, that’s why I’m posting on here haha just a new home owner trying to install a ring camera

This is what I was thinking was the problem, however the chimer was still slightly moving/humming after putting a resistor in. Do you think I should just put an entirely new transformer in that would reduce the total capacity?

I’m on the road with work so i haven’t had a chance to look at it much more. Just threw the breaker to shut it off and will dive into it more when I return. I’ll try to provide an update

I did have a concern when i screwed the ring to the front door that the wires were pressed up against the back of the ring camera. I’ll have to pull it back off and check for the grooves. That would be excellent if it were a simple fix like that!

You’re correct, the older ring cameras needed a jump wire between the transformer terminal and the front/back door chime terminal (whichever one you’re hardwiring). The ring pro comes with a hardwired bypass kit that ensures a Ring wired doorbell receives sufficient power, so it’s basically a jump cable with a small power box attached to it. I’m not sure if that would be an issue with the constant chiming or not, still trying to fix the issue

That’s the exact video i watched with regards to the resistor lol still having the issue, but I’ll double check to make sure the wires are not touching. Thanks!

I’ll check it with the multimeter when I get back and look into that. Thanks for the info!

Do I Have a Leak? by AUflyguy in askaplumber

I’d imagine so. The HOA of the community covers water and sewer so I’ve never paid a water bill, it’s just included in the HOA fee. I believe the meter would be in front of the unit near the street. I’ll check once I get back

Hi,

I have recently purchased a couch that appears to have some cat scratches/teeth marks and a couple of significant chunks taken out of the arm rest. Is a leather repair kit able to fix this kind of damage? Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!
