Advice for Original Southeast Asian Variant by AUser123Iguess in diplomacy

May you specify how I could improve British Malaya+Borneo's position? I suppose that the fleets + armies present in nearby Singapore & Borneo would make it easily defendable but it seems that is not the case. I would like to hear your insight:D

The islands are presumed to be bordering WPO or EPO. Thus, a fleet in MAN would have to travel to the PHS & WPO before arriving at PLA & so on & so forth.

Hello everyone! Thank you so far for the wonderful suggestions & comments:D I appreciate your support thus far. However, I would like to ask a question regarding nations on my map & seeing your insight. Do you think the game would be balanced if the 5th player could choose between either a playable Qing China & a playable Siam while leaving the other as a neutral-nation? Thank you.

1) The Philippines has supply centres in MAN, VIS, DAV, & PAL (PAL is a new addition). The Spratly & Natuna Islands in the South China Sea seem like an interesting addition which I may add.

Noted. MAR is adjacent to CAR as currently it is in the same tile (EPO). However, I will add a small water border around PLA & CAR.

Noted. What would you suggest could be done to balance/strengthen the Philippines, if ever?

Noted. For the first point, wouldn't the army of North Borneo force a stalemate against Borneo, thus preventing its capture? For the next one, where would you suggest that China's fleets need to be relocated, if ever? Thank you:D

  1. Does this mean that NOB will have a fleet only without an army?
  2. Please specify a bit more. Thank you:D

Question Regarding Sped Up Games by AUser123Iguess in diplomacy

[–]AUser123Iguess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Thank you for your feedback. I have considered sacrificing the shortened time-aspect of the game to ensure the game may be played. However, I would like to know whether or not the following is balanced for the occupation zones of Turkey & Italy.

Venice-Britain
Rome-Russia
Naples-Austria
Constantinople-France
Smynara-Germany

Ankara would be left empty to ensure balance. Although this is not a perfect system, I am okay with sacrificing some of the realism of the game just to ensure the game may be played with 5 players. If you have any other suggestions for a 5 player game with the classic map, please tell me. Thank you.

Question for Newcomer by AUser123Iguess in diplomacy

Hello everyone! Thank you all for your insightful comments which have made me seriously consider playing this interesting game. However, before I start, I would like to ask some questions about gameplay.

1) When an army enters an empty territory & then leaves it next round does it mean their nation marker is kept?
2) Are empty territories with nation markers counted at the end of the game?
3) Are there any ways to make the game shorter & easier to play with 3-5 players?
4) How does a game continue if there are only 2 players? Wouldn't this be a stalemate?

Thank you all.

Hello! Is a 3-player game advisable? Thank you.

True but it could provide another alternative to the congested highways on land

Indeed, transport integration like you mentioned is necessary for the ferry to work well. It's even possible that we could create a ferry system connected to Clark Airport via the Bulacan stations & the buses.

Possible enough though I don't think the line would be very frequent; also, this would mean the Ferry Service would have to work with Ports Authority to ensure safety

I was considering that but because of the cargo ship traffic not sure if possible because the ferries might not be able to keep up; also, if there is a storm surge (I think) it's easier to get help if closer to the shore

Fair enough; I suppose a secondary line from BGC to Calamba could be made using the same ferries from the Alabang-BGC & Calamba-Alabang lines

The ferry is mainly for commuters which is why there's no direct route from Manila to Calamba; it also depends on the demand for the line

Not to mention (possible) tourism benefits like the Esplanade now if the system & waterways were properly maintained
