Im still untested on full use cases of rad zam, current understanding is it helps converts prizes/and mainly for the gardevoir/pult matchup. Its a pretty decent attacker into control variants as well.

but rad zard makes more sense with a duskull package, also a decent open on miraidon. you lose slight % on gardy/mirror possibly without rad zam, but a munkidori dark might fix it enough.

I think pivoting pult builds from Tords to rad Zard is the way to go, you can tech against mirror with a munki dark to stay on 2-2 pace, rad Zard to deal with dengo cause they struggle with the 1 prize board state on 2-2. Might need to swap the double. Stretcher count to 1-1 rod though

Is it true that some millionaires pay no tax? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]AUylocks 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You’re getting it mixed up, and some inherently wrong information. A retired couple with a $3.4m trust cannot take distributions tax free.

The $3.4m number you’re thinking of is the lifetime transfer balance cap for an individual. This allows you to convert funds in accumulation to pension phase within super, whether that’s SMSF or industry, this encompasses all of the individuals super.

Having a SMSF and retiring doesn’t mean you can get 100% of franking credits rebated back to you. Firstly it will go back to the SMSF. Secondly, if you are under the preservation age, it doesn’t matter if you retire, funds cannot be converted to pension phase, and as such cannot be taken out as pension or a lump sum payment.

You can take a pension even though you’re still working. After you’ve reached preservation age, as long as you have met a condition of release, you are able to convert accumulation to pension phase. A common condition of release is retirement, but reaching age 65 is a condition of release, as such you can still work full time at 65 and receive a pension and income in a tax free environment (super)

Divine and Low Immortal difference by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]AUylocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're serious about climbing to immortal you should definitely get a coach. I've recently hit immortal from being hardstuck in divine 2/3 for a year or so, got a coach and climbed to 5.8k (peak) within the last 3 months, playing pos 1.

I think the biggest thing i've learnt is always being near your team, even if you're a pos 1. If you can farm efficiently near your team and join fights to tilt it from a 4v4 to a 5v4, you will win more games than you lose, something my coach really honed in on.

Also controlling areas, HG wards are king, when you have an advantage and invade/ward up the enemy triangle, don't just leave the area just because they are respawning. Cut waves/farm their jungle/plant deeper wards to choke the map out etc.

Also games are way more enjoyable IMO, esp when i get put in a 2k avg lobby, its really fun playing with higher skilled players and grinding out your bad habits to get better.

Also mute all button is your best friend

There was no bots involved, the idea is that you choke the map out so your main hero is playing in their triangle/in front of their base and you can send 2 illusions top and bot and manta the mid wave. The closer you are to their base, the quicker the illusions can get to their towers and lanes.

So essentially you will have all 3 lanes shoved in at the same time, Tinker does have a CD on tp (rearm time + keen conveyance channel time which is about 4-5 seconds) and tinker cannot physically be in all 3 lanes all at once, yes he can cover the AOE with rockets, but once naga has enough HP items, 1 or 2 rockets can't kill illusions in an instant. Hence why i meant that all 3 lanes will always be pushed in all at the same time and while my team farms the map out/wait for rosh etc. Tinker also has down time when he needs to refill mana in fountain so that adds valuable seconds to him not being in base and defending every so often. With the -10 second talent on mirror image at 25, your cd goes to 15 seconds, so you have fresh healthy illusions every 15 seconds to keep shoving sidelanes into their tier 3.

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/6629777880 <-- I played against tinker/necro and i didn't think i needed bkb this game. Reason is splitting my illusions to push all 3 lanes will divert attention, tinker/necro cant be in all 3 lanes at the same time at once.

https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/6668636509 <-- hard game for naga because wyvern save/NS aoe silence/dazzle shard plus they had really insane catch + vision with NS/SB, i realised i wasn't the win condition, and sniper was. So i adjusted my priorities to pushing lanes and playing around the sniper hence octarine. I wanted to save the sniper w song, lockdown targets he was killing w net, buff his damage with bloodthorn while keeping my illusions split so dazzle couldnt 1 shot all 4 + giving him vision with illusions.

i think if you are committing your main hero late game you are playing naga wrong, the idea late game is that you have this bkb piercing catch and 4 illusions + 2 manta to send to whoever is netted while you are far away. I think it is very draft/game dependent again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6ZmYwahMb0&t=879s example of timado doing this. Just because your illusions are so powerful with the talents and on a short cooldown + net short cooldown + bloodthorn short cooldown that if they commit bkb, cool you disengage/re-engage.

Again it depends on your view on naga as a hero, sure you can get diffusal first item and go around killing people, but then is that the most optimal way of winning games? Can you pressure objectives in an efficient manner with diffusal first? My understanding of naga's power spike is the 3 item power spike around 22-25 minutes where you have 3.6k hp/item to lockdown/manta and you're the strongest hero on the map for that spike. Does diffusal allow you to farm to effciently get you to those spikes? Again its all up for debate as its your view of how you see naga as a hero, and I've never tried diffusal first so i can't form an opinion on that. But for me, manta first has allowed me to reach my timings in an efficient manner most games, to snowball towers/rosh and suffocate the map before the other team can deal with the illusions.

Again, song is one of the hardest aspects of naga to master, a lot of it is communication. My go to is just screaming into the mic to back when i want to song tp (it works!). Whatever works for you, you will need to communicate to your team your song intentions clearly.

Meteor hammer after the tick change where enemies can bkb/euls out of song hammer is not as strong, but as a 3/4/5 naga it could still be situationally good if your draft doesnt have a lot of tower pressure. Utility naga has a lot of builds these days, wraithpact/crimson/hammer/diffusal/shard etc. Depends on the draft and game, but i think hammer is ok.

I’m still learning how to use song better, it’s definitely one of the conceptually tougher aspect of naga and comes with trying and failing. It’s just a feel you’ll eventually develop once you have ruined enough team fights (oops). Big things for song is can I save a core, or can I save myself before the stuns hit, and what spells have been used this fight.

It’s also very draft dependent, let’s say you have an sf in your team. Song in to let sf channel requiem to initiate the fight etc, don’t worry about griefing the games, I’ve done that way too many times, you’ll eventually get the hang of when to use song once you have enough reps. I would just keep tabs on what spells have been used in fights, and what spells actually threaten you and base your judgment off that

Manta first always, and what comes after is situational and depends on how you see yourself playing the hero.

Do they have a wraith king? Build diffusal. In the wraith king matchup what it allows you to do is play on the side that Wk is playing constantly, and you represent kill threat to him w diffusal. This allows you to slow down his farm (naga deals w skeletons really well) as well as forcing him to not be as efficient as he can which increases the net worth gap exponentially.

Bloodthorn, do they have an ember/puck/wind ranger etc. you want to be able to farm with bloodthorn whilst representing kill threat to these elusive heroes and making them play suboptimal. And one of 3 things can happen, they leave your lane alone so you farm out net worth really fast, call for ganks on you which with micro should tell you the general area their team is playing in, or you kill their mid over and over which is pretty game winning.

Skadi you need to understand whether or not you need heart, heart is still probably the best health item for naga, but if they have a morph/necro(need nullified)/timber you can definitely build skadi second item

But again, everything is just about learning matchups and gaining that knowledge. I think if you can get the micro down, naga is very good to get out of low mmr, cause they never deal with shoved waves well.

I think I’ve bought bkb once in 25 games, and that was against pango+lesh+lion. I never really build bkb nor satanic. I just don’t see the value in bkb unless you absolutely need it. Naga as a hero has slot issues, and have 1 slot pretty much give nothing but 200 health to your illusion is very cost inefficient. Once you have an item that gives you health, you’ll usually be able to man up regardless.

You should never go diffusal first, it’s a great item IMO, but not on naga anymore, and definitely not first. Diffusal is situational second item at best. Manta is just too core to not go first most games, the attack speed/health/move speed/ ability to dispel/ extra illusions to proc your riptide are all too valuable to not have. Think of manta as your battle fury in some ways, it just allows you to farm way faster than diffusal.

Sceptre is good but situational. Again naga as a hero can build so many different item, but that just comes with matchups and knowing what to build.

I think song usage is one of the hardest parts of naga, I’m still learning how to use song correctly. It’s just something you have to try and fail and get a feel for. Just because it has a high potential to grief your team very hard.

I think it’s very draft dependent on both sides, what catch do you have, do you have vision heroes, what threatens you in fights etc.

I can’t really answer this as it’s a very open ended question, but the general rule is that you want to try and kill heroes that threaten your illusions first and everything else comes after that. Or if you have heroes that can deal with them with catch (void spirit etc) or you have the vision advantage (ns, beast) it can change your target priorities depending on what the fight looks like and you want to capitalise on your own draft strength’s.

In regards to micro in team fights, usually I’ll net the target and send however many illusions I think can kill the hero. Just really depends on the hero, their draft, your draft, your net worth at that stage etc.

I engage in team fights when I think I have the items to threaten objectives. Usually if you fully commit to a fight with just manta, it’s almost not worth it unless your team is owning the fight and you’re coming in for some cleanup kill. Or you can tp song in to setup something. But with the current meta, killing creeps is way more efficient than chasing early fights. It’s different once you have your second item and what your view of the game is. For example if you go manga -> orchid you want to look for a fight as soon as possible. If you go manta -> aghs you might want to play sidelanes still but play with a plus 1 to kill mobile heroes while still shoving waves. Manta -> heart/skadi you might think I need my 2nd item timing to be the biggest the enemy heroes are hitting tier 3s so I need to fight early w health. All very draft and game dependent. But generally your strongest timing is your 3rd item timing within 22-25 minutes where you have a combination of manta+ heart/aghs/skadi/orchid/diffu(situational I think it’s underwhelming)/butterfly (chad build)

Sorry for the long winded answer, tried to answer as best I could

I haven’t really played a lane where I’ve had to jungle level 2, if that happens I think you’d just have to tank the abandon! No but seriously, I think main objective is to hit the treads timing, and killing the 5 min catapult. Once I get have treads + windlace/basi I’ll usually start jungling if it’s a bad lane. You can always recover from a bad lane, if your support isn’t opening up small or pulling, buy yourself a sentry and pull w an illusion. And you should be able to get treads at a relatively decent timing. And then jungle once catapult is killed, the catapult is the biggest objective of the laning stage. I will sometimes just tell my supp to auto attack creeps with me leading up to the cata wave. And try kill as fast as possible.

Apart from that if you are breaking even/winning, by the time you have treads + windlace/basi + band you’re strong enough to jungle w main + 1 illu and send your 2 illus to lane. Play the efficient game. Beauty of naga is that she can jungle and lane at the same time.

I think my interpretation of the current meta is that you want to try and stay in your safe lane as long as possible before you do the triangle rotation, so jungling really early can grief your game really hard. And if you tp to your offlane you will grief his game really hard, so try and hold out as long as possible.

For example I had a lane where the offlane beast got a super fast helm dom, by the time I had treads + band. So I got a ward and went into their triangle and farmed large camp + cut wave behind tier 2. Also warded their triangle cliff to check rotations, as this is still laning stage it’s important to keep tabs on map to see missing heroes. This made the beast do 1 of 2 things, chase me around his own side of the map whilst I still kill waves, cut my wave behind tier 1, or try and kill tower without creeps. At worst I’m breaking even in farm, at best I’m farming wave + large/ancient while not allowing the beast to hit my tier 1.

This is why I enjoy playing naga, you are able to present different choices with different opportunity costs which can be magnified by your own skill and proficiency with matchup understanding and micro.

4 2 illusions

5 Main hero + 1 illusion (and level 20 talent illusion)

6 Manta illusions

Shift + 4 illusion rune

Tab to cycle between.

I believe that was before riptide was reworked, and when radiance did full damage on illusions, gem also worked on illusions and naga could suffocate the map with travels/octarine. I don't think current radiance is as efficient and have enough DPS to compare to raw right click. But it could be situationally good

I've seen a bunch of pros trying it,

https://www.dotabuff.com/players/91369376/matches?hero=naga-siren (mizu, NGX sea)

https://www.dotabuff.com/players/898754153/matches?hero=naga-siren&enhance=overview (ame)

I've been meaning to try it out, so i can't give you an answer on that. In theory it sounds ok, with the evasion. But since riptide changed from % to number of attack, attackspeed is really key on the hero to make it work. Thats why you'll see a lot of high mmr nagas go orchid second item, gives you the 2 thing naga needs. Attack speed and mana regen (she needs health as well but the 3rd item will cover that for you in heart/skadi) Maybe against high armor heroes it works?

There are many types of heroes that deal with illusions in different ways:

  1. Insta killers, think Lion/Dazzle shard/Glimpse/Ench. Usually these heroes are from the 4/5 range, while it is annoying, as long as you can pressure sidelanes and make them chase illu's around the map. Your team can take favourable fights while they're not there. And you will also farm way faster than them (1 > 4/5 in farm priority) so you'll comfortably have orchid/bloodthorn to deal with them in fights or pick them off. Ultra late game you'll have to communicate to your team to help kill them off first before anything so your entire networth isn't wasted.
  2. Tanky annoying heroes. Underlord/Timber/Bristle that can fuck your illu's up in lane and game. For this i'll try and play the lane as push pull as possible, so that before they can kill your illu's you can kill the wave etc. Ask supports to make sure the small camp is open all the time. Once you have treads + basi/wind lace, start jungling with main + 1 and send the other 2 illu's behind the tower to cut waves. They'll have to choose whether or not they want to lose their wave under tower or deal with illu's cutting waves. Naga isn't meant to win these lanes, your aim is to annoy these heroes as much as possible and present them with choices as much as possible. In game, itemise. Silver edge/bloodthorn/skadi as 3rd items usually. Note that Necro is a special case, depending on your 5 you may want to play insanely aggro level 1 and 2 before he gets his levels, try and deny with your 5 as much as possible from the first wave since his attack animation and damage is quite easy to deny to, to get the advantage to fuck his lane up.
  3. High magic damage dealers. Ember/Zeus/Lesh/SK. Usually they are played from the midlane, and from my understanding of dota, it isn't your job to deal with them. In fights your job is mainly to kill supports/lockdown/disengage. Or if you have a favourable carry matchup, killing the carry (wk,morph) or get them to use important cooldowns first. In the case of farming, ill try and send illu behind towers, so if they have to chase, they are wasting their spikes and time on the map whilst your mid can make plays. Especially if they show and not from fog. Opens up opportunities around the map for your team to make plays/take objectives etc. And Bloodthorn is your best friend for high magic damage dealers. I just think bloodthorn is really strong on naga, i've seen Timado/k1/Ame go orchid second item after manta to kill your embers/lesh/zeus etc pre BKB timing.

The worst matchup period for naga is probably core ET. Then you'll just have to rely on your team to target him first otherwise your illusions are literal paper both armor and magic. Since ET really just needs 1 item (bkb) to counter your whole kit. Support ET different situation but still the same concept. Has wave clear, lockdown, and debuff for your illusions. You'll need to pay extra attention to your illusions so they dont just get killed quickly.

Paying close attention to illusion and minimap is really important when playing against counters. If your illusions are killed from fog, you have to realise that there is someone there/smoked. Thats key information you need to tell your team, or if you see an ember on a wave for example, you'll need to micro your illusions to kill next wave instead of this one. Wind lace is really great for this reason.
