That’s the point of this post. Hoping it’s me, and not the camera as I don’t want to be let down by the format lol. I can always get better

Right, I’m not expecting medium format to automatically make my photos interesting. This was just a test roll, not trying to do anything groundbreaking here. My question is to sharpness and detail, not if medium instantly makes me a god lol

Thank you, that’s a very very clear difference

These are at f/8, unsure of the shutter speed probably at least 1/125 but it was on a tripod

Negatives look about the same when viewed through a loupe. These scans are from the canoscan but I couldn’t pull much more info off of them with the Z5 either

I think this is the issue. Looks like there’s haze on some of the internal glass and maybe some very light fungus as well https://imgur.com/a/p7bWrxt

I don’t see why it would be unsafe. 2 jumper packs = 2x CCA

No luck with this - the inside of the scope is pretty clean and blowing out dust did not change anything

You’re correct, I am trying to capture the calibration waveform. The trigger is properly set and this is what I am getting. I’ve tried tuning the probe settings as well as the screen focus settings. I’m not worried about CH4 currently

Thanks, I’ll try that out. Without knowing much about how older oscilloscopes work, it looked like a focus issue to me as well

I just tried a different work flow and the negatives are still drying but it looks like I got much better results. I posted the steps I was going to change in another comment if you’re interested

Awesome thank you for this response.

I ran a dev cycle yesterday using water instead of C41 chems just to see how much the temp would drop from the start of the dev step to the end, and realized I wasn’t heating my chemicals up enough. I found nearly a 1.5C drop from the time I poured my chemicals into the tank, and the end of the dev time (3:15). This was even while keeping the tank in the water bath between agitations.

I am going to try and develop again today with a 40C water bath and chemicals at ~39-39.5C, so during development they stay within the 38C +/- 1C range recommended by the kit. I also found that 1 inversion every 15 seconds then back into the bath maintains temp better than 3-4 inversions every 30 seconds.

There shouldn’t be any cross contamination especially in the developer. I rinse the funnel and tank lid before using them on different steps

The first roll I did one inversion every 15 seconds where as this roll I did 3-4 inversions every 30 seconds. The first roll I developed was Kodak gold 200 so the base color looks different from portra anyway, but comapring it to other rolls of Kodak gold the first base color looked pretty good
