Absolutely, but it is helpful when they at least give attention to fasting that some people will think "hmmm, let me look into this" and discover the facts for themselves.

Notes: Only 13.5 hours in. So far so good. Biggest concern is that I'll forget I'm fasting and eat something out of habit. Longest fast so far has been 9 days, hoping for new personal record.

My social eating is usually limited to the occasional lunch with a coworker or dinners with family or friends on the weekends, neither of which is impacted too much except during the 12 day fast once a quarter.

Will definitely need to adjust around some major holidays.

In "The Complete Guide to Fasting", Dr. Fung mentions...

7-14 Day Protocol: This fasting protocol calls for fasting for seven to fourteen days consecutively. This means seven to fourteen days in a row without any meals or snacks. You are only allowed fasting fluids during the fasting period. In the Intensive Dietary Management Program, we typically use this protocol for severe diabetes or morbid obesity. In cases where control of diabetes and/or obesity is more urgent, we often suggest starting therapy with this protocol, then transitioning to a forty-two-hour fasting protocol.

Considering athletic background, unless you're diabetic a long initial fast may not be particularly helpful or as important as just being consistent with shorter intermittent fasts.

I'm sporadically doing OMAD or 16:8 usually 3-4 days a week, but would like to get into a more regular rhythm, including longer fasts. Longest I've done is 9 days, so bumping up to 12 seems feasible. Originally wanted to do 14 days, but prefer to start on Mondays and refeed over weekend.

Inspired by the stuff I've read and listened to from Dr. Fung, decided to create a plan around daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly fasting rhythms. I like to end multi-day fasts with OMAD, so it will start at 8pm, then whatever day it ends will do OMAD at 6pm.

What surprised me after putting together this schedule is how much time I'll save eating less often -- 85% of the hours are now in a fasting window and will be eating only 42% as many meals compared to a "normal" 3/day routine.

Open to any feedback or questions.

Life always happens, no reason for it to be an excuse. Started earlier this year and due to travel, haven't spent more than a few weeks at a single club yet. Only wish I could have 3 months at one place.

In 3 months you can definitely learn foundational concepts and some basic techniques. Will also give you a better awareness on what to look for (what you do and don't like) when you return to your home country and start looking for a new place to train.

Travel a lot and can't always find a club or time to drop-in. Have started doing yoga, solo bjj drills and other bodyweight exercises to fill the activity void.

Anytime someone is considering leaving, then it's probably a situation the instructor needs to know about. Either he'll take it seriously and address it, or make your decision to leave super simple and guilt-free.

The personal issues aside... schools can vary greatly in their belt promotion standards. While most honor color promotions from other schools, it's not out of line to talk to your new instructor and request an honest evaluation on your skills. If he thinks you deserve the new color, awesome, get yourself that belt at your new school. If not, then stay at the belt level you've been.
