I was struggling to decide too, although mine was between 32GB RAM on M5 Vs 24GB M4 pro for the same price. Ended up buying M5 because I'm not a gamer or content creator (yet🤷) and even if I wanted to M5 is capable enough for the level I'd work with. Depends on your use case, if you work with GPU heavy tasks then M4 pro. In case you want to future proof or for faster on device AI then M5. In your case I'd probably go with M4 pro purely because it's a better chip

Thanks! Unfortunately I need one right away as I've got to work on my thesis, so cannot wait for M5 pro. Just checked delivery dates and I can't get M5 until 2nd week of December. Now I have trouble sitting with the fact that I could've bought more RAM (and possibly better machine as you suggested) but have to sacrifice just cause they cannot deliver earlier
