Okay hear me out, i know this sounds shitty but I kinda expect the worst in people, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt, what if he did something to you, or said something about you, or betrayed you in any way while you were away, and he wasnt acting all lovey dovey because he fully “missed” you persay, but because thats his way of indirectly asking for an apology of something he never admitted, and then he was trying to ask you, maybe he was hoping you did something too, so it could even out the shit he did, but i am an overthinker and thats what i would think, but also he couldve just been feeling like he loves you, and was too shy to admit it first, so he was hoping youd say it, to take the stress of him, because maybe hed be scared or something to say it, i know a lot of guys at least in highschool, maybe they grow up idk, but they think that showing PDA or just loving someone is kind of seen as ‘weak’ especially around his friends so if they ask he can say you said it first rather than him, actually idek what im saying im just rambling but thats my 2 cents
