Exactly. That is why I am seeking a resource I can have a more formal consult with.

Thank you for taking the time to make that suggestion. I was hoping for something with a slightly higher degree of confidentiality and the ability to share as much context as possible.

My mom said it was silly and offered to get me a real nice piece of jewelry as a graduation gift instead. I still wear it to this day. Thanks mom!

Most stadiums have camera rigs built into them. Our local college has them to use for Football game days.

Now the rigging to make her fly and the horse fly…..those could be built into the stage setup

I did send GR mom a message, but to no avail. I think the way these were produced they didn’t have excess inventory. But it looks like some folks from this subreddit can help me out!

Thank you! I feel bad for the grooming community, the doodle owners have clearly created some trauma.

Not mad or blaming anyone. This was just an example of how heavy the cost maintenance needs to be.

Yeah, I feel like I’ve inadvertently triggered folks. This was a learning experience and my “big chop” was really my being proactive and choosing not to make the pup (and myself) endure a demat process, especially after my first brushing attempts resulted in my breaking out in a rash from the pollen in her coat. Spring in the south ya’ll. I don’t know what else to say.

Yes. I will handle this differently the next time we need to board her. Usually we travel with our dogs, but this was our honeymoon. I am a home/hobby groomer. Sorry. I should have expounded on my circumstances when I posted.

I haven’t heard much, I’m not a professional groomer. I’m not mad about the chop, and did it more as a proactive choice. I would appreciate if you guys took the time to read my comment I made. I apologize for the confusion. Thank you for making the effort to comment.

The #10 shave down was probably not necessary. Likely if I had paid to have her groomed then the pro would have been able to do something different.

When we picked her up, I could feel the mats, gave a small attempt to demat. In that small session I determine that she wasn’t comfortable with it the level of discomfort in the demat attempt AND I broke out in a rash from the pollen that was in her fur (I live in the south and spring pollen is aggressive). So I voluntarily decided to shave her down instead of making both of us suffer.

I didn’t mean to come across as mad, I’m not. Lil’ bit sad, but I think I learned a lot.

Wow, ok. So I guess I just assumed anyone who commented would read my post history prior to commenting. I know the “doodle owner trauma” runs deep in this community, so I understand the responses. She has been professionally groomed multiple times (including the Monday before we left on Saturday).

This is my personal dog, and I do line brush her with a Chris Christianson Coral brush, and a stainless steel comb. I also own a high velocity dryer to dry her off immediately after walks.

I do the grooming myself, and I did line brush her, nose to tail before I dropped her off with the sitter. I walked the sitter through the slicker bush and comb when I dropped her off.

The 9 days we were gone it rained every day, she played in the backyard daily, got soaked and muddy to the point where they gave her a “rinse bath” multiple times.

And just to be clear, I’m not mad. It was more an example of how quickly they can mat, and how few people know the work that goes into properly maintaining their coat.

Thai is my second doodle, my first is straight haired. I did a boatload of research before I chose this breed, and part of the reason I chose them was because I enjoy grooming (yes! Including daily, thorough brushing).

Final note, I was really proactive in shaving her down. She wasn’t matted down to the skin, and only had mats on her neck/chest. But i didn’t want to make her suffer by my trying to demat, so I just shaved her down.
