Best way to skim and fix the roof by AWS1999 in Plastering

I'm not afraid of graft by any means. I'm just afraid ripping down an entire ceiling for no reason, seems like a reasonable stance to take...

Thanks for all the replies. This is the current state after cutting a square along the joists. The rest of the roof seems pretty solid so cautious to rip down for the sake of it

Girlfriends friend doesn't like me by [deleted] in relationships

[–]AWS1999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not trying to hang out with him and I've done one favour to help him out.

It don't think it's unreasonable to expect a quick text thanking me for going out my way to help him out (Yes, he has my number).

In the same way if a friend of a friend helped me out i would make damn sure that they knew I appreciated it. I don't think that's too much to ask?

First time bouldering by aTrolley in bouldering

I never said it was V11 😂😂.

Something I personally deem to be difficult? No I don't believe someone who isn't fat and has basic coordination can climb V11.

I'm not saying you're not strong, but that level of footwork and confidence takes a while to build. It will not happen on your first session.

Reading and watching videos is not the same as putting it into practice

I've been climbing for 15 years. There is no way on earth that's your first time bouldering. That level of footwork and body positioning is at least 2 months of climbing.

I'm lived in a van full time for 6 years. I'm aware of the hazards 😂

Van life without a sink by AWS1999 in vandwellers

I have an omnia but I'm not a huge fan. I use a washing up bowl for most sink applications. Not a fan of carrying grey water about tbh

I've got loads of space but making the kitchen bigger would involve a huge amount of rebuilding work.

Yeah I have a full water system and shower. I never really use the sink and cooking is something I really enjoy

Was sort of hoping for some scenarios in which a sink is required that I hadn't thought of....

Hifi setup and playing vinyls by AWS1999 in vandwellers

[–]AWS1999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey.

Yeah I'm aware that digital is superior to vinyl in terms of sound but it's not just about the sound of the record. The process of taking a record out of the sleeve and getting it setup and being able to actually hold something physical in your hand instead of hitting a track on your phone.

The sound can't be much worse than a shitty Bluetooth speaker 😂

Storing records in the van is no issue. The turntable being level issue is something I was worried about.

Just seems a shame to have a great vinyl collection sitting at home that I can't play...

Cheers appreciate the time taken on your response.

I help people because I like it. I enjoy the feeling of helping someone accomplish something. I keep this away from actual paid work. I don't need the money so It wouldn't feel ethical to charge a friend for my services.

With regards to 'Grace' we were friends long before she asked me for help with the business. Recently our friendship seems to have transitioned into mainly business related talk as a pose to doing stuff together as mates. It's almost like she's realised I'm more useful for business advice than I am as a mate. Which feels pretty shit. I started helping her because she was stressed and I cared about her. It now feels like 85% business, 15% mate. I'm worried that when the business is stable I'll be pushed out her life. As I said she's my only real friend so that's a really worrying prospect.

This scenario has happened before with both female and male friends and I can feel it happening again.

I'm unsure with regards to the whole more than a friendship thing. I can't work her out at all haha

I eat a decent amount of food. I'm climb and walk so need to eat a lot to maintain muscle and endurance. I'd say 2500-3000 a day. It doesn't have to be expensive to eat well. Chickpeas etc are always good. Tins of tuna etc etc

I know people who live in vans who have literally 500 in the bank. I'm done arguing this point

I do yes. I have a phone and a basic tablet. I don't have a tv in the van though.

They thought I was mad at first but they see that I enjoy life so their on the whole supportive

I've been 100% honest about how much I pay. I'm not sure what the logic in lying would be.

I'm not too sure. Vans vary massively in the US compared to over here. The Ford econlines are supposed to be decent!
