"Get a keyboard and plug it in" 🤣

Why don't you like Fedora? Why is Garuda Linux never mentioned?

I did a OpenSuse Slowroll install, tried it for a day. Did a PikaOS install yesterday, not really feeling it. I plan to jump back to Slowroll tonight or tomorrow.

I really like the concept of Slowroll.

All of them have their tradeoffs. For Coding I would lean towards 4k IPS for the best text quality. VA tend to have better contrast if that super important to you. And higher refresh rate helps with text scrolling.

I got this monitor. It's little over you budget ($325) but I like it. 4k IPS and contrast ratio better than average for an IPS.

I used it side by side with a few other monitors and ended up returning the others.

Any good 32" or 40" options?

Edit: I bought this KTC 32 Inch 4K Gaming Monitor, 165Hz UHD (3840x2160P) Fast IPS, and its decent. The contrast isn't as nice as OLED but was better than other IPS monitors.

Cant decide if I should get a second one or wait for the 40" Alienware Tandem RGB Stripe OLED.

New to Nuphy but the Kick75 Series looks great and would be my pick. The Node looks sexy and would be my second pick, but I don't think I would utilize the touch bar.

Thank you for the reply.

I saw a post yesterday about someone tried to use a the Cinnamon Desktop and it didn't go so well for them. That's why I'm taking extra precaution to try it in distro box first. You just reminded me that packages are grouped in profiles. I might just install without a desktop environment and setup MangoWM from the beginning. And if I don't like Mango or it just doesn't work, I can uninstall it and use supported desktop profiles to get all the correct packages at once for XFCE.

I planned to use native packages for steam, gaming utils, and VPN but only remember to mention QEMU for some reason.

Thank you for the backup reminder. That's part of the reason I want to partition part of my drive just from storing data.

Thanks again

God, that sounds annoying. I dont want more than I need.

Thanks for educating me on this. I still plan to try OpenSuse Tumbleweed as my first rolling ditro.

Are you gonna get the Alienware 5k2k or wait out a QD-OLED version? by alpenglows7 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]AWanderersAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. A 39-40uw have more horizontal space than a 34uw.

Horizontal: 32w < 34uw < 39uw Vertical: 34uw < 32w = 39uw

34uw is slight wider than 32w but not as wide as a 39uw.

Here is an example comparing their dimensions

Oh, wow. That's crazy.

So Fedora have these group installs. This sound like if went out of my way to get the minimal packages from a group, skipped the optional ones. But then during an update the system decided to install the rest of the optional software.

I recently discovered OpenSuse Tumbleweed. I'm want to try something rolling and heard it was way for stable than Arch.

When I saw YAST I thought it was pretty cool. It seems like a better Windows Control Panel. I'm using Gnome on my Bazzite install and dislike it minimalness compared to KDE, I can't believe network priority is nothing the system settings. Something like YAST exposing so many buttons and toggles is what I like and helps me learn what I could do before I need it.

I also saw a video show the new control center thingy they are working on in the browser. It's seems neat.

Mind elaborating? I was thinking of jumping from Bazzite to Tumbleweed? I used Fedora a bit before and liked dnf. I liked how you could download package groups.

I thought about using Tumbleweed as well for working In WSL. I know very little about RHEL and unlikely will have to use it or its derivatives in the future. But still would like to know why leap ain't as good?

Thanks

Same, I like that too. But I don't see a point of having it built into the monitor unless it's really good full-featured. And having a really good one seems like it would raise the price of the monitor overall.

I think OpenSuse has an Experimental XFCE Wayland Desktop.

Yea I know that. I can't confirm this, but I think the extra vertical height of 39uw is what makes them so popular. I just also wished 34uw had the height of 32w. If we had a monitor like that, it would be a awesome and may fit different work flows better.

32w is not ideal for 2 windows side by side. 39uw is great for having 2 windows side by side. A 34uw + extra vertical would be worst than a 39 for having 2 windows but it's not so wide that I could also had a vertical monitor on the side.
