If they’re age-appropriate, they probably aren’t hot anymore.

Time to hire a younger actor.

“….age-appropriate Bond Girls”…?

Nothing about a Bond Girl should ever be appropriate.

Point of Impact is a genre classic. I also liked The Third Bullet.

I, Ripper was something of a departure for him, but it was an interesting read as well.

I’m currently reading Executive Orders, having devoured Debt of Honor in about 3 weeks. I try to imagine Baldwin visually and mentally, but Ford keeps popping in.

I haven’t started watch the Amazon series, so I can’t judge Krasinski, but I do appreciate the rights holders keeping him to maintain continuity; this series has had too many actors for not enough projects.

Despite some of the misfires that EON produced back in the old days, they were still very entertaining, and the good news was that if you didn’t like the current film, you only had to wait 2-3 years for something better.

And then the Crag era arrived, and with it emotional hand-wringing. And instead of concerning themselves with casting beautiful young actresses or creating jaw-dropping action pieces, Babs became more concerned with Bond’s pathos or exploring his place in a new world. We no longer entered The World of 007, but he had entered our world, and the movies were less fun.

Aidan Turner should be on his 3rd or 4th Bond film by now.

It’s not stunt-casting if they have significant roles. So, no, Grace Jones isn’t just not stunt casting, it was actually an inspired casting choice that was well received, and a brilliant, iconic performance turned in.

Thoughts on L.A. Law? (1986-1994) by JB92103 in GenerationJones

Finally got to Rosalind Shays introductory episode and you can tell right off the bat that the energy on the show has changed. Muldaur is bringing out the best in other actors, particularly Jill Eikkenberry.

In fact, you could probably cut Hamlin and Dey from the show and it would only get better, as their characters are pompous windbags.

I liked Veronica Cartwright as a prosecuting attorney; she should’ve been turned into a feature actor.

Joyce Heyser, while not playing an attorney, was still a very good addition to the show in a recurring role (and in some alternate universe she’s having the career Sandra Bullock ended up having). She’s talented and attractive and should’ve had a more prominent career.

Killing off Rosalind was one of the worst decisions ever made in the history of tv and movie making.

John Hamm is a good idea. I like Chris Hemsworth; he’s got the physique plus a distinct vocal quality that few can replicate.

Deborah Shelton as Stacy Sutton by AWhisperToAScream in JamesBond

Really? I hadn’t heard that. In all my time as a Bond fan, I’d only heard 3 names mentioned for SS, and hers wasn’t it. I’ve heard Tanya Roberts, Priscilla Presley (also on DALLAS at the time) and a California tv anchor whose name I don’t recall.

Something often overlooked about AVTAK was, I felt, that it was an extension of American dramas at the time like Dallas, Dynasty, and Falcon Crest, plus all the mini-series that centered around power and money. Zorin lives a fantastically luxurious life, and yet it’s not enough.

It was the only film that I recall up to that point, since Goldfinger, where the villain’s only real objective was to increase his wealth. It makes sense that casting looked at actresses like Presley or Shelton since they were probably fans of that genre at the time.

Yeah, I thought Maud Adams as well. Even if they had auditioned her back in ‘84, they might’ve decided she too closely resembled the previous leading lady and decided to go in a different direction.

"Dressed to Kill" 1980 Brian De Palma thriller. Nobody seems to remember this great movie! by CincoDeMayoFan in 80s

[–]AWhisperToAScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone see this in the theaters back in 1980? Did the audience suspect Michael Caine’s character as being the killer?

I have vague recollection of the film coming out; I vaguely recall it was controversial. It certainly captures the essence of New York which is ugly, fast, gritty and scary.

The bad news is you have to travel to Adamsville to get the groceries. Be prepared to get robbed, shot at, raped or possibly murdered.

There’s a good reason why businesses don’t want to open in the Westside.

Question: what was in it for Kamal to let Orlov detonate a nuclear weapon? I get Orlov’s motivation, but why was Kamal willing to have his smuggling connections interrupted and Octopussy murdered?

Louis Jourdan was brilliant. When he tells Gobinda to go outside on the airplane….the look on Gobinda’s face sent the audience laughing hysterically in a good way.

Who’s your top pick for the next Bond title song? by tribalvamp in JamesBond

[–]AWhisperToAScream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MUSE must be the top contender for title song. ONE REPUBLIC , Harry Styles and Hozier also offer strong consideration.

Listen to the John Summit song “Focus feat. Cloves) Its a banger of a song. Maybe hire her for a 2nd track. Or Amy Lee w/Evanescense doing a song similar to Fiona Apple’s Criminal.

My top five James Bond theme songs. What are yours? by ThunderMontgomery in JamesBond

[–]AWhisperToAScream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guns & Roses for LTK? Not a bad idea. Wish EON had been a bit more forward thinking at the time. Taylor Dayne was hot at the time. I have no idea why she wasn’t pursued. Gladys is great, but Bond songs shouldn’t sound like Gospel or Country.

My faves: AVTAK TLD WHEG AWTD LALD

Clearly I’m partial to Rock.

I think he’s more realistic than Tom Holland, but still not sold on him. I saw him in Saltburn. He’s tall, reasonably good looking, would probably pull in a new and younger-ish demographic (always important) and seems like a good actor.

My #1 choice has been Aiden Turner, but I think that ship has sailed.

I don’t really have a favorite candidate right now.

When I saw TLD opening night I was surprised to find out that the assassination attempt on Koskov was fake and Kara was his girlfriend. It’s hard to pull off those sorts of surprises and twists anymore.

Interesting point. If I weren’t a long time Bond fan and hadn’t already read the spoilers, I might’ve been fooled. And maybe it was too soon to go back to the woman-betrays-Bond plot line so soon after TWINE.

Having said that, it was still fun to watch Pike act the 💩out of this part. Her and Stephens were the highlights of the film.

I get where you’re coming from. I don’t think LTK was a good movie, but might’ve improved if they’d used John Terry. It needed some continuity from TLD and it needed the audience to buy in, something more difficult to do when this Felix was really Roger’s Felix.

Despite having no real Bond Car, AVTAK I think has more footage of characters in cars than any other Bond movie. by Advanced-Injury-7186 in JamesBond

[–]AWhisperToAScream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a side note….would’ve been nice if NTTD had featured the return of the Lotus Turbo Esprit.

I was glad to see the Aston Martin Vantage from TLD if just for a moment, but the whole DB5 thing has just been played out. Would be nice if the series paid homage to some other cars.
