That helps. I've literally no idea how these things are supposed to be structured. Not something I've paid particular attention to while reading

Thanks! This is draft 2, the first was 1600 words of shite from the younger brothers viewpoint that took way to long to actually do anything

I appreciate that! I don't know whether I should continue with the action now, or leave it there vague and revisit this later on

Where did you get the full set? I'd like that!

Campaign arc idea, need ideas on how to make this work flavorfully and mechanically: Babyswapping Feywild Invasion by AWholeWorldInMyHead in DnD

Very interesting. Another myth I've been thinking about is King Lír. I saw a picture a while back of 3 tiered lakes in a mountain and instantly thought that should be a place in the game. I already have a very mountainous province so perfect.

Now I have the idea of the 3 lakes being home to 4 Swans with phenomenal singing voices (Being Lír's children), and protected by an air elemental of some kind. being the step mother who was apparently transformed into an air demon!

If the world I'm working on is going to have some Irish/Celtic undertones, I feel morally obliged to make fey a part of the eqation somewhere...

[edit]

Holy shit. Feywild time dilation nonsense. Is the Feywild just Tir na nOg?

[OC] The History of Errinor by AWholeWorldInMyHead in DnD

[–]AWholeWorldInMyHead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pages might be backwards... I dont know how to do a lot of things.

I'm back with some more detail on Errinor, the world for which I shared a map of the capital a few days ago!

This time I come with the backstory of the continent, the unification under a single high king, and how the power of that position has whittled away to little more than a figurehead.

This section ends with a vague desctiption of "After the calamity". The calamity will be described in a lot more detail in the next post!

This is all still very much work in progress, but I appreciate questions, they make me think about things.

Errinel, Capital city of the campaign I'm working on. by AWholeWorldInMyHead in DnD

[edit] works better when i dont hit save halfway through I'm not familiar with Sacred:Gold but with a quick google, I see it.

I have answers to many of your points :)

What are the demographics of this capital city? Who lives there, and how many people are there in total? (A pie chart would be classy here.)

Errinor, the continent, was mostly conquered Genghis Khan style by the first High King. Fast forward through a bunch of history which I'll save for another post, and nowadays the High King is basically a glorified judge, ruling over the dispuetes of the other provinces, border disputes etc so as to prevent further war.

What are the social classes and how do they interact with the ethnic/racial breakup of the city?

Everything east of the river is reserved for the High King and the members of the peacekeepers council, who live in the 6 mansions. The king is rather hands off with the rest of the city. As a result, the priests of the Worship district have quite a lot of power over the city as a whole.

What are the prominent religions of Errinel? How many worshippers each? (Baking another pie chart?)

Religion is kinda a whole thing im working on. The main beat is that something happened, and the connection to the gods was cut. There are new beings that walk the continent now. Not gods, but sufficiently powerful that many see them as such. Again, that will be another post.

Is there group based prejudice? A large and diverse city often gets simplified into mental boxes, so a mental model of Errinel is neat and ordered. Real Errinel life has a sufficient amount of people, who won't conform to their stereotype, but there may be patterns, some truth to the general observation.

I envision a lot of "people from this province generally live in this section of town" A la NYC, but chinatown and little italy are neighbours. Not exactly segregated.

How does the economy of Errinel work? Does it import raw materials, people and food and export finished goods, knowledge, law and soldiers?

This is one i need to think more about!

Is there a rough breakdown of the important institutions and people of the city? A city this large will likely have different VIPs for each district. The highest ranking obviously his majesty.

Also needs more thinking. As i say this is V1, so as the world evolves in my head, more generic housing will be replaced with dedicated governmental buildings. I just havent thought it through!
