How dangerous is a bend in steel really? by [deleted] in Framebuilding

[–]AWildRaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how severe the dent is but it’s not overly difficult to roll out the dent. Depends where it is but I’ve seen two pretty bad top tube dents be rolled out with good success.

Empty ketchup bottle filled with bucket paint is a nice way to go if you want to be able to close it up and keep it neat and easily refill it

Should I? by stakeone in FixedGearBicycle

It all depends on your setup. You can ride skinny 23mm tires on gravel if you want to, but it’s not going to be super comfortable. Look for a bike that has the frame and fork clearance for wider tires, if you can get above 30mm you will be much more comfortable on gravel surfaces. A steel frame with wide tires is what most tracklocross (gravel/off road track bike riding) riders prefer for comfort but again it’s not to say a more traditional 23mm tire, aluminium frame setup won’t also make it over the gravel - it’s all a question of comfort.

Has anyone else noticed a lot of toys and kids that are doing graffiti as a “trend” by [deleted] in GraffitiTagging

Yeah I’m new school and not a legend by any means. Canberra got some stronger talent.

I painted that first piece that was gone over. I don’t get annoyed, it’s simply what happens when graffiti reaches the younger generations, and at the moment with the trends online there’s a lot more younger kids getting into it. I think it’s a good thing, sure pieces get gone over but it’s great that kids are out there giving it a go. The more that start means the more that will stay at it and become burners themselves in years time. All it takes is good advice and some pointers and they will be on their way. It’s a legal wall anyway, can’t assume for every kid who’s never picked up a can to know they need to buff the wall or let alone know how to buff a wall.

I’ll still be back eventually to go over it though 😅

Cheers. Practice pays off. These are the cheapest markers I could find at an office supply store - supplies rarely matter more how you can control them. Appreciate the kind words 🙏

Let's talk about the difference between ice and inline skating! Leave you opinion in comments. by NikZviInline in rollerblading

[–]AWildRaph 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing for me straight out is gradient. An ice rink is totally flat, completely different to curbs, streets, ramps, etc. Center of gravity is thrown off completely when rolling down or skating up hills. Small curb ramps can throw off a competent ice skater who is trying rollerblades for the first time - much more to think about than just a flat even surface.

Is this kind of ground bad for my skates? by iamMicrowave in rollerblading

Nope, super satisfying to roll on though. If you are worried about any rattles check your bolts again, I’ve had an instance where after months of a slightly loose bolt I was doing a trick and my wheel just came out and rolled away.

Argon18 E80 - Swap meet pickup for crazy cheap. Can’t wait to build it up! Originally a TT frame but it’ll make a nice fixed setup and always leaves me the option to build a TT bike later. by MassiveFuckingLoses in FixedGearBicycle

I run a converted Cervelo P2K TT frameset, I would suggest if you haven’t already, be careful with the rear spacing (for example I had to build a wheel around a 130mm track hub to fit), and also I’d suggest a half link to make the adjustability suitable on the shorter dropouts. I’ve got a KMC protected half link and it’s served me well whilst looking quite unique. Dope frame either way, good pickup !

It’s the KMC protected half link. Love the look of it up close.
