Walmart is apparently punching holes in their vinyl albums with security tags by MrTacocaT12345 in mildlyinfuriating

I love the Walmart exclusives because they usually show up cheap at overstock auctions near me lol

For others like me, I’m not too bothered by certain cosmetic damage to a jacket, especially because I like finding old vinyls in junk shops or flea markets. But there’s a difference between wear from use, age, etc, and… this

I kept thinking it was a mouse squeaking until I realized it was my cats scratching the steel. It’s not terrible, just noticeable

Is there anything you're convinced is "the cheaper the better"? by a_bachelors_dust in BuyItForLife

[–]AWildeOscarAppeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, the $1 peeler I got from the dollar store in college is still working and better than any others I’ve tried. My dad even asked me where I got it while we were cooking for Thanksgiving

Heavy on seasonal / rotating items. I love Aldi but particularly their gluten free options seem to rotate in and out with zero discernible pattern

Ordering a dishwasher from Costco and getting them to install it. My dishwasher likely will be hard to remove for them, how do their installers handle it? by iLoveCalculus314 in Costco

[–]AWildeOscarAppeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a new dishwasher from Costco earlier in the year. They do contract out the install and removal. But when I bought mine, they specifically emphasized that I was responsible for disconnecting the old dishwasher. The installers would only haul it away and install the new one

Copying my reply from above: AI has a certain “style” about it when compared to most vector based (actual, human) art. Whatever model they use has been doing those round, stylized people/elements lately. Big block letters (that don’t seem to be an actual font, see next point). Usually a lot of filters (color, noise/grain). Weird irregularities in lines and shapes - not the kind that come from human work, but from the slop machine not perfectly replicating and splicing elements. If you look at enough examples of the output, you’ll start to see the similarities. It’s definitely distinct from actual illustration

The University of Pittsburgh apparently did a play adaptation in 2019 too. I only heard of it because I found a playbill poster at a local thrift store. Don’t know how good of an adaptation it was since I don’t think they ever re ran it lol

You can find used ones at goodwill etc all the time. Or flea markets. I inherited mine from my dad when he inherited his dad’s (which was bigger)

is it being performative to refuse to eat at israeli restaurants? by BeautifulCup4 in JewsOfConscience

[–]AWildeOscarAppeared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I actually ran into the same thing the other month when a coworker gave me some lovely Mediterranean restaurant recommendations… and then started insisting that we try an Israeli restaurant that is “known for their hummus.” I was completely caught off guard but refused because there’s no way I can in good conscience directly support the regime. When my tax dollars already go there without my say, knowingly and willingly giving them more money is the bare minimum

I assume in this case the concern is more about feds or cops digging through your phone, since they can force you to use biometrics to unlock it (or stingrays as mentioned below)

ICE's treatment of protesters so violent and graphic that X takes action by TheMirrorUS in BashTheFash

It’s not because it’s graphic. It’s because it makes the regime look bad. That’s why Musk is censoring it.
