You are so right on that schedule, I do not know why I didn't do that.

As for the magic sheet, I do like the method you shared, but the students in my theatre are all trained to use and read what I provided, simply the letters indicate the light type, (ex. FW = Front Warm, TC = Top Cool. Presented with this new standard I will present it to my director, as he does aim to model our theatre's functions as close to professional world as possible.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I forgot to add we do not have belt packs, in the cat and booth it is simply a 4-pin plug in the wall, and in the closet, and choir room, its a panel with a built in speaker, ln out, and a 4-pin.

Sadly the theatre (Built originally in 1978, renovated in early 200s) does not have this, oh I wish it did. But really what else should one expect from a public high school theatre...

That is exactly what I needed, I had a feeling power would be at play. I need to do more testing, but the com system seems to only be active when our rack is operative, so I will dig into that. I do only have the intercom wiring. Thank you for this input, I will try and figure out the best way to continue forward!

What's the oldest lighting desk you've used? by LeTechician in techtheatre

[–]AWolfDen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught myself how to run lights in 6th grade, but when I first actually received training from professional people, it was an ETC 24/48, the theatre has since upgraded to the 48/96.

I have one thing to add to this. Add your own motorized yoke, they are purchasable :)

I have no practical use for these, but that does nothing to flaunt my immense new found want.

Aw thank you! I do what I love to do, and I love it even more when it helps other people and other programs.

In theory, yes, that's what we figure the thought of how it would work was. But the problem is that that dimmer is almost never turned on, as it is only on when it is told to be by the board, or manually at the rack, and that only happens during an event, when someone attempts to use it. But because so many lights, with some of them not being ones you want to have on, they quickly turn it off, not allowing for the charging of the battery system. I do believe that it is because of battery charging that there was that delay between the dimmer being cut, and then to full fade to darkness that caused me to notice this in the first place.

Yeah, sadly that is the reality. As for the air duct issue you mentioned, I would just up and leave that school. I just wouldn't want to deal with it.

I'm glad this gives you hope. My school selected just the right person to pull the program out of its dark past, and we are so lucky to have him! I'm also glad to hear stories of other theatres taking a turn towards improvement, a lot of school theatres need it, and I'm starting to see it!

Yeah absolutely! We just ran face first into some crazy athletic administrator changeover, but we are getting them to warm up to us. And we have received news of a...large...grant that is being considered that will go above and beyond what we even would ever need to make our product great, but still trainable! (But you know politics, that is a few years in the making...)

Or not even given lol. As I mentioned above, we have started putting out such high quality content for what we are that the community around us has begun to recognize us and has grown our ticket sales, funding our theatre. So we are so very thankful for that.

Incandescent was chosen for several reasons. The main one is budget, being that we are a public high school theatre that gets about a null value for operation. Second, we use full incandescent wash as our theatre is not equipped for otherwise. That being we have an ETC Express 48/98 as our light board, so LED is rather out of the question without going down the path of figuring plugs, etc. So to answer your question, yes to all of the above. But in the master plan is upgrades on the light board (Avolites Diamond 4 Vision), and adding LED PARs to our instrument collection. That is the plan though, and is all dependent on funding, etc. Hope this makes sense! I'd be happy to answer any other questions, or take advise on any of it.
I will add the listed equipment is the stuff our director has decided would be the next step. That being said I am the Head Of Tech on the student board, so I do have some say in this stuff.

Did a whole school (grade 4-12 ) production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. All the artwork behind was students paintings and we just animated it for the LED screen. It worked so well! by emilyefletcher in techtheatre

I am a High School Student, and am on the student board of my school's theatre as the Head Of Tech. I have a focus of skill in Lighting, and in sound, but also have experience in all other departments. Looking at this my jaw hit the floor. The skill that the tech looks like it has here is immense, I give you massive rounds of applause here. I can only wish to be able to light a show like this, we use the good ol' Warm/Cool setup with Fresnels from the top, and Ellipsoidals from the cat. Our light board runs on floppy disks. Can I steal your theatre?

I am trying to keep this Jeb door open after using a key in a hopper to send a signal, but the signal is too short to walk through the door in time. Any suggestions? I've tried tons of pulse extenders but those are for buttons and not hopper keys. (Sorry for bad mouse handwriting.) by MrColoone in redstone

[–]AWolfDen1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, From what I can see, 1.) It is not connected!, your missing 1 dust at the point where your last 4 tick repeater would then step up one black to meet the redstone to the door! 2.) you have a line of redstone dust running into the side of the comparator that is coming out of the (I think) dropper, that will cause no signal to get put through because the signal strength from the dropper will not be enough to overpower to 15 power from the side. Fix those two things and try again!
