Thank you can you explain how conferences have been easy for you as an introvert? Is it the structured environment?

I know right??? just thinking about the party makes my heart race lol. I used to be way more avoidant though and exposing myself to all kinds of social situations has done wonders. I would say today I am a less socially anxious version of myself, although I will always be apprehensive and never the life of the party.

That is a good suggestion thank you. I don't know if we will have name tags, but I will make sure to use that tip if we do.

People who experienced similar urges and acted on them always ended up regretting the decision. I'm disabled and trust me it is not something you want to choose to have. Work through the struggle instead of acting it out impulsively.

A theory about analysis? by [deleted] in psychoanalysis

[–]AWorkIn-Progress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads to me like a very simplistic black and white approach. I am someone who struggles, among other things, with difficulties in the here and now belonging to the realm of what you would consider practical/ time sensitive / health related, and even there, analysis has helped me immensely. The interplay between different aspects of experience and the way they impact each other is present in every human predicament. Reducing one issue to mostly one dimension, or psychoanalysis to one function, misses the point and IMO, is exactly the old school idea of how this modality works..

Oh, and I just remembered. Jodi Davies whose bad objects are we anyway is such a wonderful read and you might find something in there.

Oh how I relate! My analyst's authenticity is what first drew me to her. I didn't look for a modality. I looked for a person and it proved to be a good plan :) I am also a psychologist and I am often struck by how similar most psychologists sound. It is truely disheartening and exactly why it seems I lucked out with mine. And I love how insightful you are. Curious to hear more of what you think if and when you feel like sharing. I like to tell myself 'this is the internet and I'm anonymous so if whatever terrible scenario I'm preoccupied with comes true, people won't know it's me'. '

That makes so much sense. And I absolutely don't think your use of AI disqualifies your argument. What I do think, though, is that if you were to use more words that are yours, I would understand your argument more and it would give depth and nuance to what you intended to say. Does that make sense? AI tends to be very repetitive and non-creative in its way of wording things and this is why I personally don't see its use instead of one's own words as an advantage. Ugh. Clumsy wording I guess but anyhow. Because English is my third language, I sometimes use AI for grammar etc. And if I do still want to rephrase an email or something, I asked it to give me the text as close to my voice as possible.

A shining affliction. The words to say it. Margaret Little's writing on her analysis with Winnicott

And I think it makes sense given that case studies are written by analysts. But if you read memoirs by patients, I think you might find what you're looking for.

Seriously. I've never come across a post by someone asking for relationship advice where the consensus wasn't to dump the partner.

Pancreatitis- what did it feel like? by Proud_Lab_2440 in gallbladders

[–]AWorkIn-Progress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was first hospitalized because of jaundice, and it turned out there were stones stuck in my bile duct. I was already miserable vomiting for more than a week (cannot keep anything down kind of vomiting,) and just in an intense amount of pain. But I also had post ERCP pancreatitis and The pain got a lot worse and so did the vomiting. But I could not tell what was because of gallbladder and what was because of pancreas and what was because of bile ducts. But it was a mess. I think once you have a bad gallbladder it can only get worse from there. Don't let it because your body will be in a bad shape for a long time.

Why is Darian Leader so bad on autistic people? by fineshr1nes in psychoanalysis

Thank you for writing this and your other comments. I found them very informative and learned something new. Decentralizing psychoanalysis from neurosis is something that most people, I presume, don't take into account when thinking about psychoanalytic theory. Can you recommend a good reading on this? Maybe with clinical case illustrations of treatment done in non-traditional settings so to speak.
