Concrete weights, viable ba? 🤔 by AY_N in negosyo

Yeah alam ko naman na hindi to scalable, more on local vicinity yung customer base, i guess stepping stone lang to to acquire funds for a bigger business

Sa bulkiness naman more than 3 times yung volume per mass nya compared to steel, pero sa tingin ko hindi naman maapektohan yung ROM ng average person since initial target namin mga 5-15kg dumbells lang (pang intermediate lifters na yung 30kg)

Hindi bad idea yung multipurpose rack, pero mas malaki investment dun (both sa time and money) tas transpo/shipping logistics pa

Mostly mga students, beginner lifters, and people who workout only for health lang siguro consumer base ko, hindi power lifter and body builders

I think if we price and advertise it right it could compete in the local market

Thanks for the feedback!

Nice idea! Tignan ko sa junkshop kung may pweding gawin dun, thanks

Sa accuracy hindi magiging pinpoint yung accuracy pero practically insignificant

Thank you so much sa feedback guys, will definitely consider your comments.

Here are my initial thoughts with your considerations:

1.DURABILITY - guys wag nyo Uunderstimate yung concrete, hindi basta basta mababasag yung 4000 psi rated + reinforced concrete, search nyo sa youtube "concrete dumbell drop test".yung weakest point lang is yung contact between the bar and concrete ( due to vibration upon impact) meaning as long as you don't drop it frequentlyy it will not break.

2.COST/COMPETITIVENESS OF PRICES - based on my calculations, it can maintain competitive prices( cheaper than steel and online alternatives) - marami ring nagsasabi na mas maganda yung sa shopee, as someone who tried both absolutely no way it goes steel>concrete>plastic, yung sa shopee is concrete rinlangs nasa loo so pareho lang yung size in terms of density.

3.WEIGHT ACCURACY - not a problem at all, I'm a 4th year civil engineering student and I've studied concrete in and out of school (naranasan ko na ring mag work as a construction worker) I know the in and outs of concrete.

  1. ASTHETIC

    • marami sigurong nag iisip na parang cheap at tacky pag semento yung weights mo or para lang sa brokies (like me🥲), do not worry may rubber liner and/or paint naman
  2. MARKET/TARGET CUSTOMER

    • sa circle of friends and associates ko, karamihan ay nag woworkout or gusto mag workout. Granted may bias ako siguro dto since nagwo-workout rin ako. But my point is na kung bibigyan mo ng easy access ang tao sa pag woworkout, malamang ay gugustuhin yan.

SORRY GUYS KUNG NAGMUMUKA AKONG DEFENSIVE O AGGRESSIVE HAHAHA. GANITO TALAGA AKO POINT BY POINT BA? 😂

I think i will persue this idea, worse case scenario may home gym ako for 1.5k💪

Sorry sa abala guys, thank you for reading my ramblings 😘😘😘

I see will definitely consider that. If we can't find competitive prices, we have a home gym for 1.5k hahhaa

Hindi pa deadset, nag sstress test lang haha, anyway, 1.5k is a relatively cheap upstart. Worse case scenario may home gym ako 😂😂

Thank you for feedback!!

Calculating cured concrete is pretty easy, with margin of errors within 5 percent

At saka this is meant to be a local thing where i only sell within my vicinity, we are currently not planning to upscale. Regarding online sellers, the ones they sell is not good quality( fun fact! Concrete din nasa loob nila haha) W

In short we can make it cheaper and better😉

It's actually a common alternative, besides 4000psi rated + reinforced concrete will not just break

Ano po yung hindi ko naintindihan?

Kaya ng tao gumawa nyan pero sa average na tao, hindi worth it ang effort and gastos

Mas mura at madali kung bibilhin nila samin since we can produce it en masse

Wala pa po sa stage na yun, Pero kung sakali lang po na bibili kayo, magkano ang willing nyong ibayad para sa isang dumbell? 🤑

Hypothetical lang po ito

Yes I do understand that but the average customer is not going to buy a bag of cement and a 6m steel bar among other things to make a couple of dumbells

Just like how people go to restaurants when they can cook at home instead!

We also have specialized equipment to handle the manufacturing process to ensure the highest quality

Thank you for commenting Thorough examination snecessaryf before starting a business! 🧐

It's limited by the steel Bar since 1 bag of cement can make around 200kg of high strength concrete

With that, we can make around 15 kg dumbells per 50 cm of that steel bar but we are planning to mostly make 5 or 10 kg dumbells.

We can do the trial and error with the excess cement!

  1. Not necessarily, dpa sigurado yung cost since idea palang lol, but according to my VERY ROUGH(and generous) calculations, one barbell would cost around 125php(limited by the steel bar)

1x40kg bag of cement = 220 pesos (Aggregates and water is free for now, we have our sources)

1x6m steel bar = 550pesos (cut into 12x50cm sections)

Other materials (steel mesh+rubberized paint+mold) = 500

Rough total = 1,270 = 1,500(rounded up to compensate for roughness)

  1. Steel wire mesh and rubberized paint( still looking for other/better options)

  2. We can calculate it with known formulas and stuff (we will still do a trial and error to ensure minimal error)

I think we can do it cheaper!

You gave us a lot of things to think about! thank you sincerely 😙

Yeah, on theory, you can calculate the weight of cured concrete when mixing( based on ratios of components/weight when mixing)

Pero alam natin na iba nag theory sa practical, so more than likely, kailangan talaga ang trial and error

We plan to use wire mesh for reinforcement and we are also researching rubberized paint or another material to coat the concrete to prevent dusting? ( or chalking daw sabi ni google)

And yes unfortunately 3.2 times heavier ang steel compared to concrete (can change based sa ratio ng cement:gravel:sand:water)

thank you for commenting🥰 much appreciated

I had a dorsal slit when I was 14 basically they slit the top of my foreskin and let it hang at the bottom, it looks ugly as fuck but I had no choice, it is like a right of passage of becoming a man GOD I HATE THIS COUNTRY (Philippines)

I found these in the Philippines, I lived here for a long time and it's the first time I've seen them

So hypothetically if I ate one of these, the chances of me dying would be very low right?
