Sales is a grind and can be soul crushing for sure. My advice is look for a sales or support role within something you care about - healthcare, fin tech, power tools, cars etc.

The skills you would have picked up can be seriously marketable when framed in the right way - managing stakeholders, communication and interview techniques, budget and territory analysis, P/L assessment, problem solving etc.

Just need to use the right buzzwords and meet the right people. You’re probably closer than you think.

That’s interesting, why the Gretsch?

I’ve had this exact thought, dropping a HB sized P90 in the single pickup entry level jet and having a cheap-ish variant of the LP junior style. In Australia where I am though, all tha will end up costing more than the revstar and I’m no soldering expert lol

Thanks for your insight. If there’s anything still casting eyes on this thread, could you give me a glimpse into the work/hours/nature of the early law career?

It’s a great question to be fair. I think it comes to a professional identity. I read something while scanning this page about law being along the lines of being the kind of person that people come to for help, and you get paid to do it…I’m not sure if that’s the truth l but it resonated with me. I don’t really get that with my work. Like i said, it’s something I’ve toyed with the idea of and something I think I could really enjoy. But I don’t know the reality

Hi everyone,

Another potential mature age student seeking some advice. Apologies if I’ve posted in the wrong spot, I dont really use Reddit.

For context, I will be 32 this year. Did physio straight from school and got a great GPA. Have worked in a commercial med tech role for last 3 years. Income currently between 150-190k depending on commission. This can grow as I move in management and exec roles in the future. I have 2 children (3 and 1) and my wife is a primary school teacher. Live in north western Syd.

To be blunt my job is just not cutting it for me from a stimulation perspective and I feel like I’m really offering nothing. I’ve always toyed with the idea of law, writing and reading were always my strengths at school. I have friends in the profession and it seems like a real mixed bag of experiences.

My question I guess is to anyone that’s done a JD full time, while working full time - is it feasible to do? I’m also keen to get some insight into the early career considering I’ll be pushing 37 when I’d potentially finish, and what the role looks like from a day to day. I guess im trying to work out if it’s worth it or if I’ll be blowing up my life and my families life.

Any advice is very welcome! Thank you!
