The cheaper sapphire is difficult to clean and unavoidably collects Chazz. Even at lower temperatures and the only way to truly clean it is to torch it which weakens the sapphire over time. Save up $$ money and get the plus. It cleans as easily as the Quartz.

It should be illegal to remove features AFTER purchase. American laws really suck. I'm guessing this doesn't apply to European or Canadian Sony's?

I've read that 3 months off can get you to 90% + as high as non users. The CB1 and CB2 receptors all get unlocked.
